Wailea Ekolu 702 is a Premium 2 bedroom, 2 bath top-floor condo ideal for family getaways. This unit was updated in late 2021 with Daikin Split Air-Conditioners in each bedroom and living room. The master suite has a luxurious King bed and the second bedroom has a Queen size bed and 1 twin bed. Another update is the new Queen sofabed in the living room and all new living room furnishings. Tile flooring is throughout. This unit has been completely remodeled from top to bottom, all new windows and double pane sliding doors provide for extra insulation to keep the heat out and the cool air in. Guests enjoy panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean, Koho'olawe and Molokini from the living room, lanai, kitchen and Master Bedroom.

The full kitchen has everything guests need to prepare meals. For some privacy on the lanai, all while keeping the sun at bay, guests will enjoy automatic sun shades that go up and down with the click of a button.

Really nice clean condo with nice furniture and decor, beautiful view in quiet setting. Well appointed kitchen with all items needed for cooking and food storage. We have stayed at several condos in this complex and 702 ranks high on our list.

This is the first time I have left a negative review, which is sad because this is a great property/location that is poorly managed. My review summarizes two emails I sent management that were ignored. Such a frustrating experience for very expensive rental.Primary issue: ants in primary bathroom. After not getting a response to my first email, I called management who sounded surprised despite there being ant bait on the counter. She sent someone out, who sprayed the bathroom (just a few feet from where our infant's travel bed was). The bug spray smelled so bad we had to sleep in the kid's room the next 2 nights. There were only 5 bath towels, which seems unreasonable for a 2 bedroom condo, and the one my husband used on the first day has greenish black stains on it. All towels smell musty, and washing machine has mildew/mold. We only found 3 beach towels rolled up by the front door, and the first one I pulled out to use was wet (and musty). When we tried to use the dishwasher for the first time, we found it completely full of wet dishes. They smelled musty, so we had to re-wash, dry, and put away someone else’s dishes. The "wecome" email says in all caps WE ARE NOT A HOTEL. It's one thing to only offer "starter supplies" but we didn't have even a full roll of paper towels or a single kitchen sized trash bag when we arrived. I would stay here again if it were under new management because the views and location were ideal.

Gecko feces everywhere in the unit

The location and view was great. However, there was gecko “poop” everywhere in the unit. I have pictures. The poop fell from the ceiling onto the bedding. It was on the headboard and the night stands. It was on the bathroom counters. It was all over the floors. We had to clean it up, but more kept appearing., as did the geckos. The manager came and changed the sheets for us and refunded our cleaning fee. But that doesn’t really address the actual issue. They also told us they disclosed it - but telling us in the check in process that we might see a gecko and they are “good luck “ does not even come close to disclosing the issue. We have been coming to the islands for years and have never experienced this.

We couldn't have been happier! The view is absolutely incredible. The condo has everything you could need. It's within walking distance to The Shops at Wailea and so close to town. I couldn't recommend this property more!

Disappointed with property management

Unfortunately we arrived at this property the day Canada asked its citizens to come home due to the covid 19 virus. We struggled with booking flights home but were able to secure ones for 4 days after arrival. We had 12 nights we were unable to use due to the covid situation and after emailing the property manager we were informed they were not going to do anything because we had checked in. I could understand if we only had a few days left of vacation but we still had 2 weeks. Unfortunately while we liked the property the management company is not willing to work with us at all. There were a few minor issues that were annoying but didn’t really effect our stay. The dishwasher was terrible had to do all loads twice and the washer lid wouldn’t stay up. Really liked the location.

Great place with amazing view

This place was a great place for our young family. It was in a quiet area, with comfortable beds and a nice pool. We really like the Wailea area with a number of great beaches that were a quick drive away. The place had things for the beach and a kitchen stocked with everything we wanted. My favourite thing though was the view from the lanai and the kitchen window, where you see the water at a distance with the occasional glimpse of humpback whales.

Location and view are Excellent!!!! However these units are 45 years old and getting older. The pictures are probably 4-5 years old. Furniture is 10-15 plus years old.

A Few Shortcomings with a Perfect View

The many units in Ekolu are similar, with exteriors and interior ceilings of painted wood, all set in lovely landscaped grounds. We have stayed in Wailea several times, but this was the first time in this complex. We were on a 50th wedding anniversary trip with our children and grandchildren. Our two adult sons stayed with us in #702, an upstairs unit, while our daughter and her family stayed in another, two story, unit rented through Homeaway with a separate owner. While choosing units in which to stay, the photos of this one were very helpful. After booking, communication with the booking agent, Kelli, was good. Final instructions were fine. Soon after arrival, we did find a couple of shortcomings. First, the condo was described as having A/C, but actually there were low sitting A/C window units in each bedroom and in the living area, none of which cooled really well. When the air temperature outside went up to 85 degrees, the air temperature inside just managed to go down to 78-80 degrees through the day, cooler, but not by much. Cold air falls, so placing window units close to the floor is an inadequate way to cool a room! Second, the master bathroom sink was slow in draining, so we had to buy Drano to unclog it. Third, the inside of the clothes washer was not clean and loading the dryer was difficult because there was no magnet to hold the washer lid while putting wet clothes into the dryer. Fourth, there were no instructions in the unit explaining operation of the TVs or major appliances, as we have seen in every other condo we have rented anywhere. Lastly, we contacted Kelli, our contact at the property manager's office a few times to help us with operating one of the TVs. (She was responsive, and after three unsuccessful tries to turn it on, she came by to help.) We once spoke to another agent, Michael, who rudely could not understand why we wanted written instructions. We didn't know what the key in a bowl was for until we got to the pool, where it was needed, and not all people have the same appliances! Other than these minor problems, the furniture was comfortable, the beds even more so, the kitchen equipped with just about anything we needed. A small Lanai was located outside of each bedroom, with a spacious one outside the living room with beautiful views. Soundproofing was excellent. We were within walking or a short drive to restaurants, shops, etc. We had a marvelous time in Wailea!

Great place to stay in Wailea

Have stayed at Ekolu many times before. This unit is typical in the 2 br layout. Nice view of the bay and an excellent place to see the whales in December! Lovely and well appointed property. Electric grill on the patio is a nice touch. Showers in both bathrooms have been nicely updated. Great washer and dryer. Since it's an upper unit, you have to plan your day a bit - meaning you need to filter out the sun so that the place does not get too over heated late afternoon. This is a known thing in Wailea and Maui in general, though. Not a detriment at all. Kitchen is very well appointed with tools and cookware and the like. Fridge is commodious for keeping items that you need. Location in the complex is great. Close, but not too close, to the pool. Excellent parking. Easy to get in and out of the complex. Highly recommend this unit!

Great Place

We had a wonderful experience in unit 702. It was very comfortable and the view was fabulous. We enjoyed Dining on the Lanai. We had two couples and there was plenty of privacy and space. Everything we needed in the kitchen, including spices. Plenty of necessities such as dish soap, laundry soap, toilet paper and paper towels were provided. We would love to stay there again. Great Unit But

We obeyed the signs to remove our footwear, but then our feet got really dirty due to the dirty floor so we put our slippers back on. It was not the ash from the Kihei fires cuz the furniture and our cars were not covered with ash. The towels smelled of body odor so we washed all with vinegar before using them again. The dryer was full of lint, in fact, lint was all over the washroom cubby - THIS PRESENTS A FIRE HAZARD. The lint trap was FULL. The living room remote is not working as well as the cable box in the smaller bedroom. Because of these conditions we will not be staying here again. Which is unfortunate because we really like the unit otherwise. The kitchen was fabulous, the view is knockout and surroundings are to die for. Clean up your act and you will get more bookings.

Good two bedroom condo in Wailea

My family of 4 stayed in this condo for 4 nights in late June. Overall, I was happy with our experience. In terms of the descriptions of the place and other VRBO info on it, there were no surprises. Everything was very accurate. The highlights of the property turned out to be the amount of space, its modern look and feel, and the pool at the condo. One of the things my kids "insist" on now is a deep pool, and I was happy to find the deep end went to 8 feet. The only other thing of note is how close the property is to the beach and shops. You will have to be someone of enjoys a good walk if you want to avoid a car yet get to attractions. Personally, I am, so I enjoyed it, but I can imagine other people where the walk will be too far.

Excellent vacation home

Very clean, comfortable and well maintained vacation home with plenty of amenities and an excellent kitchen. The home is at a quiet community with easy access to beach. I was particularly impressed by Kelli's thoughtful service to do her best to help the customers. We moved to this home due to some unexpected issues, but Kelli went above and beyond by helping us to do early check in and helping to move the luggage at checking out.
