It is a lovely setting and close to everything we wanted to see. We didn't cook at the house but it seemed to have everything needed in the kitchen. The firepit was great! The view from outside was awesome. Inside, the large picture windows are great but needed to be cleaned. Very minor but we noticed some odd choices inside for photos on the wall. For example, had "The Terror of War" hanging in one of the bedrooms -- famous and iconic - but maybe not something you want to look at as soon as you wake up. House smells a little musty - probably due to proximity to the water. Again, very minor but if you're sensitive to that stuff, worth noting. Overall very nice.

Hi Bev, thanks for the 4 star review. That photo is a little horrifying, but it represents one of the top iconic photos of the 60's which is the theme of this collage. Yes, the picture window get all these tiny white bugs that stick to it this time of year. And we don't usually have too much river smell since we are on the bluff. The closer you get to the water the more you smell it. But the temps are great this time of year and makes it cozy around the fire pit.
This property sits above the Tennessee River with incredible views from the living room and the lawn. The location is very convenient to both Fame and Muscle Shoals Studios. It is also xlose to the Wilson Dam Recreation Area. We had no issues with ubers to go iut to eat in the evenings. We had a wonderful visit and wpuld definitely stay there again.

Our family, 60-82, loved the view of the Tennessee river, the quiet area, accessibility ( no stairs on main level) and imagining the conversations of the great musicians who stayed here. Great restaurants nearby and Clay is a wonderful host. The house is older but the beds are super comfy and the house is filled with interesting items. We will definitely stay here again when we visit family in the area.

Muscle Shoals Music House
We visited the area to tour FAME snd Muscle Shoals Sound Studio. Not only did the house have an amazing view of the river, it was an easy drive to the studios and local restaurants. We enjoyed watching the geese, ducks, osprey and eagle as well as the boats and barges. Additionally, we enjoyed a visit from a beautiful neighborhood cat! The host did a great job of communicating with us.

Fantastic view through a large window of the Tennessee river. Nice soft sheets and towels. Compelling photos and prints on walls. Fascinating history of the place. Enjoyed the reading material. Kind host. We’ve stayed here twice. Would definitely recommend.

We spent two nights to enjoy the sights around Muscle Shoals (of course the music studios) but our favorite was the Birthplace of Helen Keller. Great tour of her home and the story of her and Anne Sullivan. The house was extremely quiet and I enjoyed some book reading.
Peaceful, stress-free couple of days exploring the music history of Muscle Shoals and hiking in the area. The house was a welcome retreat at the end of the day; we watched boats go by, walked in the neighborhood, relaxed. Plan on coming back soon!

Relaxing Getaway
We had such a nice time at this property. Clay was incredibly accommodating and so kind. We had everything we needed during our stay. Clay has gone out of the way to make sure all of the little things are done correctly. We felt right at home while staying here and know where to bring friends to explore this fun and historic area.

Awesome View
Spacious and clean property. Had everything we needed. The view was awesome and Clay was great to work with. Caught a ton of fish and made some great memories with my boys. If you need a place to stay this is it! Room for the boat too which was a huge plus!

The location was great with a wonderful view of the Tennessee River.
I had a great stay in the Muscle Shoals area. There was so much to see and do. This home was the perfect place for me to book since I was very interested in touring the Fame and Muscle Shoals Sound Studios after watching the documentary film. Clay was a great host and very helpful with ideas of things to do. I wish I could have stayed longer.

Great location very nice and very clean
I was surprised the owner was also living there while we were renting, so that was odd for us. They were downstairs and we barely saw him, but it was still a little awkward for us.

Hi Shannon,
Hope you enjoyed your stay with us. I was a little surprised that you were surprised that we live in the downstairs apartment. The following is the first paragraph in the property description.
This property is secluded in at the end a neighborhood and sits on a bluff overlooking the Tennessee River. The top floor is 2100 square feet of living space for our guests and I live in an apartment in the downstairs walkout basement. About the host
Hosted by Clay Mize
My roots run deep in the southern soil. My ancestors often found themselves in a fight. They were in the middle of the Revolution, at odds during the civil war and together again for WWI and II. Ty Cobb and Johnny Mize called my great-grandfather Uncle Billy.
My father was born in a log cabin. By age seven I understood the meaning of a long row to hoe. In Alabama, playing football is what you do if you want a girlfriend. I got more education than I knew what to do with, while my real education came after going to work.
In addition to the family farm, I worked as a furniture assembler, lifeguard, paper boy, waiter, cookie salesman, and oil field roustabout. Other names I held along the way are baby brother, friend, teammate, quarterback, Christian, entrepreneur, professor, talk-show host, landlord, writer, and coach. Some paid better than others. Now I do what I please and it pleases me to manage a couple B&B’s, coach tennis and write, though I still have a dream or two I am cogitating.
A few years ago, I turned away from the financial engine that had been good to me. We helped thousands and paid millions to families in need. I wasn’t fully aware of my desire to go in another direction, but I now understand I wanted a greater return on my time and energy. I could only find this by investing in children, building community and sharing important ideas. The remuneration is an other worldly form of compensation.
I am working on a new novel. If you read one of my books and don’t get an idea that is worth 100 times the cost of the book, I will send you a refund. Let me know at Claiborne.mize@gmail.com
Same goes if I speak to your organization.
