I'm so glad you AND the dogs had fun. Sorry we didn't get to meet. Thank you for leaving the chalet in such great condition. Have a good winter.
I enjoyed having Michael at my chalet. He was extremely respectful of all rules and asked if he wasn't sure. I also, very much, appreciate that the chalet was left in such good condition.
Beautiful, woodsy setting for an artsy chalet. The climb to the bedroom and loft is a bit steep for anyone with mobility issues, but the place is so peaceful and quaint. Super clean and welcoming!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Janie was super friendly and easy to reach. She was super welcoming to our dog which made our stay that much better. Everything was clean and the area is beautiful! We’d definitely like to visit again.

I enjoyed having you!!! I love how attentive you were to your dog. Thanks for being so respectful of the chalet. I do hope you return. Stay well.
Very private and secluded chalet. Has its own driveway so it is like your own individual cabin in the woods. Come and go as you like without worry of interrupting anyone. Close to town and fishing and hiking. Very comfortable. Loved it. Had an opportunity to speak with the original builder/ owner about the history.

Perfect accommodation for our family
We loved staying here. The home was well appointed and was comfortable for our family of 4 and our dog. I enjoyed the peaceful walks every morning with our dog and my daughter and i had a great visit up the hill to meet Janie (owner) and her pup. We are looking forward to a return visit. Proximity to Killington was great as well as a couple great restaurants that we tried in the area (20 minutes away in Rochester and Royalton).
Stayed with spouse & our 8 year old child. The photos don't do it justice it is so beautiful & charming. Janie was friendly & helpful. We loved sitting at the pond on the property & having dinner. The river to swim in nearby was our favorite way to relax after after long days of hiking. We had our best family vacation so far & we can't wait to come back!!

It was so much fun getting to know you just a little bit. Love to have you come back. Thanks for your lovely comments.
The chalet is clean and so cozy! It's in a gorgeous location where it's easy to just relax but still about 15-30 minutes from Killington and plenty of activities. The chalet worked great for my husband and I and I would highly recommend it as a couple's getaway but I could see how it might be tight for more people - specifically multiple couples.
The host was also wonderful - quick to answer messages and honestly a delight to get to know!
The place was very cute. Janie was very friendly. We enjoyed meeting her and her dogs. She had some great recommendations on places to visit! Our kids shared the loft bed, and my husband and I shared the bedroom. My only recommendation is that the online listing is updated. There were some discrepencies with bed layout and check out time given in the check in email was 12. In the cottage it was listed as 10 and another place online was 11. 11 was the correct tjme. We appreciate Janie's hospitality and would stay again.

Rustic getaway
Definitely a cozy and charming little cabin, and Janie and her adorable dogs were super welcoming! We had a great time, but just beware that this area has no service whatsoever (Verizon) and the wifi from the main house does not reach the chalet. It's also a good half hour from Killington and all the "action" there. The only other issue we had was that the driveway was SO ICY... Even walking from the cars to the doorway was a struggle without slipping, since there was no dirt or salt put down. Bring microspikes if you're coming in the winter!! :)

A muddy mess, but still a good vacation
Let me start with the positives… the owner was very responsive via email with directions and check in process. The house was really clean on arrival. And sitting in the afternoon sun, out on the back deck with a glass of wine and the sound of the stream below was really relaxing and enjoyable.
However, getting there was an adventure as the driveway was a muddy mess. I know the owner’s have no control over the weather and she alerted me to the fact on our way there but I wasn’t sure our big 4wheel drive was going to make it. It was challenging to say the least. Not to mention, there was no place to walk the dog without going thru the mud.
The house is tiny and I think would really be a stretch for 4 people. Also the owner’s log cabin is only about 50 yards away so not quite the solitude I had expected. No Verizon cell service and the Wi-Fi didn’t work for the first 2 nights we were there. I never called the owner on that because it didn’t really matter to us. I had a book and the backgammon board with us. It did unexpectedly show up on our last night. Lastly, the house is cute but there is a lot of stuff. Everywhere. Maybe a little less stuff would have helped in figuring out where to put my suitcase and my stuff.
With that said, it was still a nice vacation and who doesn’t have a good time in Vermont!?
aside from being locked out for a few hours the second day it was a wonderful stay and Janie was quick to help with the lock issue..

Why they chose this property
What makes this piece of property unique! That is a very challenging task to complete without writing a book. In 1968, my then husband and I, NYC school teachers, were late in scheduling our Christmas ski vacation. We ended up at Laolke Lodge (turn left once you come across the river) a log ski house owned by Olive Pratt for the Christmas break and thus started our romance with Gaysville, VT. We fell in love with everybody and everything about Gaysville, VT. At the end of the season, Olive let us know that her brother had 11 acres of land on Vulture MT and was interested in selling the property. “Uncle Buddy” Pratt wanted a used VW bus and we traded that bus for 11 acres of land in 1968. During the winter of 1968-69, we met Uncle Chapin Pratt, and began plans for our log home. My husband and I camped on the land during the summer of 1969. We cut the trees, mixed the mortar, and I,personally, dug out the basement with a huge shovel. Our friends and I camped and everyday worked along side Uncle Chap’s workers. In 1970, we moved to Vermont and had our two girls and 2 dogs. Life happens and in 1982 I was forced to leave Vermont and move back to NY. I did not see our home again for 17years. In 1999, my two daughters and I returned to VT to discover that there had been three owners since I had sold my home. It had been abandoned for 2 winters and was going up on the market in 3 months if back taxes were not met. 3 months later we had our home back and because it was virtually destroyed being abandoned for 2 winters I got it back for what I sold it for! My son-in-law restores homes. Our home had been in two magazines. He looked at the pictures and restored our home. What a magical place it is. The two hand hewed beams in the kitchen and living room were done by Uncle Buddy with his axe. The stone work all came from a 150 year old barn that Uncle Chap tore down. The top log in the dining room was leveled by Wayne Pratt, Uncle Chape’s son, who had the use of only one ey
What makes this property unique
The chalet is carefully designed and the kitchen is complete with gourmet equipment. It is very private on 11 acres of land with a nearby pond. The views are lovely, but the forest surrounding the chalet are just as magnificent.
