Acadia Yurts offers visitors the most unique way to stay on Mount Desert Island. Seven fun, eco-friendly Yurts and two Tiny Houses will bring you as close to nature as camping, with all the amenities of home. Located on 5 acres of lovely wooded land, surrounded by Acadia National Park property, Acadia Yurts offer a peaceful retreat for your group (up to 4 guests per 24' Yurt, 6 guests for the 30' Yurt or 2 guests per Tiny House). Acadia Yurts is also ideal for large groups traveling with accommodations for up to 34 people on 1 site.

In addition to yurt or tiny house living, the Wellness Center at Acadia Yurts offers on-site yoga, an infrared sauna and a flotation tank, all available for extra charge. Prices available upon request.

A yurt is a tent-like circular fabric structure with a wood lattice frame that originated among the nomadic tribes in Asia. These permanent, colorful structures have thick canvas exterior walls that include reflective insulation and a high efficiency heat pump/AC unit so you can be comfortable during any season. Yurts are quickly becoming a new vacation experience that vacationers are enjoying throughout the US from cliff side views in California to ski lodges in Colorado. This is a memorable place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Acadia!

Had such a a great time and the yurts are on the quiet side of Acadia. It lets you do some exploring on other parts of MDI and you don't need to go to Bar Harbor for everything. Loved it!

The best managed property I have ever stayed at. Superb communication with Aaron and Karen. We cooked in every night and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The pots and pans and dishes and glassware were high quality and the kitchen was spotless.
A delightful spot to enjoy a cappuccino and a bowl of oatmeal!
What a wonderful feeling to walk into the Yurt. It was spacious, well appointed and so clean!

What a Gem! The yurt was great, comfortable and relaxing. We stayed here for our 20 year anniversary. Had all our needs met and the owner communication was great and quick! I do however have to say this and I am not sure anything can be done about it. There were many spiders I had to kill in our stay. I know we're in the woods and It might be hard to control the pest situation but it was alittle unnerving with the amount of spiders we had to kill.With that said I would still choose to stay here again.

Beautiful, quiet forest retreat

We loved Acadia Yurts! Our yurt was clean and well-stocked. We were able to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. It was great being so close to the park, as we spent our days hiking. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, unique place to stay!

Anniversary trip turned into engagement moon!

Owners were very quick with communications and we were even able to extend our stay. Yurt was comfortable with all amenities within. Loved having private bath and kitchen. Felt like home for us. Centrally located to everything that we wanted to. We were able to visit the park and bar harbor everyday. Already planning on coming back and staying for our honeymoon.

Just Book It!

This was hands down one of the best vacations we’ve ever had! The views were absolutely stunning, and staying in the Yurt added such a unique and cozy touch to the entire experience. It’s perfectly located—close to everything we wanted to do, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and secluded from the hustle and bustle. The hosts were phenomenal—friendly, thoughtful, and incredibly easy to communicate with. We can’t recommend this stay enough and would return in a heartbeat!

Coolest place we've ever stayed!

This by far one of the coolest places we've ever stayed! The yurt was charming, cozy, and had everything we needed to cook meals and sleep comfortably. The hosts really went the extra mile, providing sleep masks, earplugs, a communal area with items that could be checked out (like movies, coffee makers, bug spray, etc), extra blankets, suggestions for local activities, and more. Really, really well thought out and immaculately maintained property. Thank you so much Karen and Aaron! We absolutely can't wait to come back!

Little Yurt in the Big Woods

Great experience at Acadia Yurt. The yurt itself was very clean and well-appointed with a full kitchen. Lots of space and extra amenities including an on-property washer/dryer. Close to town and easy access to the island as well as Acadia National Park.

Aaron is a Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for 20+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.

Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite (pending availability).

As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home; running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We truly hope you enjoy our property and your time here as much as we do.
