Acadia Yurts offers visitors the most unique way to stay on Mount Desert Island. Located on 5 acres of lovely wooded land, surrounded by Acadia National Park property, Acadia Yurts offer a peaceful retreat for your group (up to 4 guests per 24' Yurt, 6 guests for the 30' Yurt or 2 guests per Tiny House). In addition to yurt or tiny house living, the Wellness Center at Acadia Yurts offers on-site yoga, an infrared sauna and a flotation tank, all available for extra charge. Prices available upon request.
A yurt is a tent-like circular fabric structure with a wood lattice frame that originated among the nomadic tribes in Asia. These permanent, colorful structures have thick canvas exterior walls that include reflective insulation and a high efficiency heat pump/AC unit so you can be comfortable during any season. Yurts are quickly becoming a new vacation experience that vacationers are enjoying throughout the US from cliff side views in California to ski lodges in Colorado. This is a memorable place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Acadia!

The Yurt was spotless, the host thought of everything a traveler might need. Little things like lots of hooks and hangers, and places to store things for the stay. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the host stayed in contact and was available to us if needed. The property was beautiful and peaceful.We would definitely stay again if in the area.

Perfect Accommodations for visiting Acadia and Bar Harbor
We stayed in the Sargent Mtn Yurt with our dog, Max. It was so spacious with all the comforts of home. It was easy to get to Acadia hiking trails and Bar Harbor. It was so peaceful to sleep under the yurt's dome skylight and awake to the sunrise. The hosts were in contact before and during our stay to make sure all of our needs were met. We hope to return with family one day soon!

Absolutely Amazing Place!
Acadia Yurts was cozy, clean, quaint and provided a spacious Yurt for 2 adults and 2 dogs! The grounds are a perfect place for anyone looking to get away and stay in touch with nature. Karen and Aaronās hospitality made our stay that much more enjoyable.

Tranquil Forest Retreat
We stayed for 5 days and have nothing but rave reviews! The hosts were easily accessible for any questions/needs we had. The property is lovely and the yurt was surprisingly spacious! It is the perfect location to access Acadia hiking trails and definitely recommend the coffee shop at the bottom of the street! One unique surprise is the large skylight in the Yurt that woke us up each morning with warm sun and put us the bed watching the rain each night!

Acadia Yurts
Quiet & peaceful- just what we needed after a busy day in and around Acadia Natāl park. Enjoyed āall the comforts of homeā in a yurt nestled in the woods. This was our second time staying here and it was as special as the first time.

Acadia trip
Our first time staying at a yurt with our golden retriever. The place was clean and very comfortable. It has all the essentials and itās very spacious. Also great location.

Nice Facilities and Relaxing Week
My 8-yr-old son and I had a relaxing week at Acadia Yurts. Great location on other side of island. Facilities were nice, comfortable and quiet. Would recommend.

This was our third year back to Acadia Yurts! It is an amazing location and close to many hiking and biking trails. It is a great getaway for family and friends. Highly recommend!

About the host
Hosted by Karen Roper
Aaron is a Maine native. He was born and raised across the bridge in Trenton and grew up attending local Bar Harbor schools. He has worked in the restaurant industry for 20+ years beginning as a prep cook in high school then moving toward general manager. Aaron's favorite extracurricular activity is learning all he can about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. As often as he can, he trains locally and loves sharing this passion with others.
Karen is a transplant. Originally from Chicago she made her way to Maine in 2009 and fell in love immediately. In Acadia she enjoys hiking, trail running, yoga, and long walks on the carriage roads. Karen has been teaching yoga locally for over 6 years and now brings her practice to the Wellness Center (located on site at Acadia Yurts). Karen is also a licensed massage therapist and offers services onsite (pending availability).
As a couple we have done quite a bit of traveling and through that we have narrowed down the particular way we like to travel. The biggest factor for us is having a furnished kitchen in order to prepare health minded foods to nourish our bodies and support all our outdoor activities. The idea for Acadia Yurts has been brewing for quite some time. Friends of ours live off the grid in a yurt and we greatly appreciate the rustic, romantic feel of the yurt but wanted some of the comforts of home; running water, heat, electricity. From there Acadia Yurts was born. We truly hope you enjoy our property and your time here as much as we do.
