Step inside to a warm, soothing space designed for rest & relaxation. Comfortable furnishings, modern appliances & thoughtful touches create a true home-away-from-home experience.

LINENS & TOWELS
Guests are asked to bring their own sheets & towels, which most guests are happy to do. However, if you prefer to travel lighter, we’re happy to provide fresh linens & towels for a small additional fee.
Just let us know in advance & we’ll gladly have everything prepared for your arrival.

ACCESS
Mountain Moonshine is located on a mountain & accessed by a gravel road. While the road is well-traveled & maintained, it is steeper & different from typical flat, urban roads.
AWD or 4WD is strongly recommended, especially during periods of heavy rain, snow, or ice. Vehicles with higher clearance perform best. That said, many guests have successfully reached the cabin in standard sedans by maintaining steady speed - turning off traction control can help in some vehicles as well.
If you're not familiar with mountain roads, there is no need for concern — just take your time & drive carefully. The journey up is part of the experience & the panoramic mountain views from the cabin make it truly worthwhile!

• A 3-night minimum stay is required during holidays & peak dates. There is a 2-night minimum for all other dates.

We stayed at this beautiful mountain cabin to celebrate our daughter’s birthday, and it was a perfect family getaway. The views overlooking the Shenandoah were absolutely stunning, especially in the mornings and evenings, and made the trip feel truly special.The cabin itself was clean, comfortable, and well set up for a relaxing stay. The hot tub was a huge highlight and the perfect way to unwind while taking in the scenery. The atmosphere felt peaceful, private, and very family-friendly.Everything about this stay made it easy to relax and enjoy time together. We had an amazing stay at this beautiful cabin in Rileyville! The location was absolutely perfect—quiet, peaceful, and close to everything we wanted to do. The cabin itself was spotless, cozy, and well stocked with everything we needed. The hot tub was the highlight—perfect after a day of exploring, and it made our evenings so relaxing. The house was a perfect setup for our group & we had a great weekend. The only issues are that we did not anticipate needing to bring our own can opener or spatula - those items seem like they should be provided. Also, consider providing linens. Our friends did not have king sheets, so we had to provide for all. I imagine there are plenty who do not have king beds at home.

I’d give them 4.5 stars out of 5 but I rounded up. Everything was great overall! Just be mindful of a few things: you have to pay for linens which ran us about 20 per bed. We didn’t catch it initially on the description of the property.The power did go out (no inclement weather) but it was back on in a couple hours and the host was very responsive when it came to this. If you’re thinking about door dashing, we did it once and had plenty of options. The WiFi was solid for streaming on the Roku, but it’s not ideal otherwise. It was laggy just to scroll instagram and it was faster when we used our mobile data. The hot tub was great but know that the view shown on the listing is being blocked now by some vegetation and small trees growing. All in all, a great quiet getaway!

Loved the house and property. Wished there was better communication about need for 4 wheel drive vehicle but property manger answered promptly and was very helpful. Also wish there was better description of where hiking trail was. Not sure if it was me but unable to start grill. But with knowing everything, I would still come back. Loved the covered deck, perfect place to relax and read and kids loved the pool.

We had an awesome weekend at the cabin; the views are breathtaking. Host was very communicative and pleasant to deal with. The grill got a ton of use and I appreciated the ease of the Roku and being able to log in to our own streaming services for nighttime movies. The only real issue we had was that we almost didn't make it up the mountain despite having a 4WD SUV. The road is large loose gravel, and at one particularly steep point it briefly changes to 2 paved tire tracks- trying to transition onto that was crazy because the gravel provides no grip and the whole setup just lends itself to spinning tires. We had to back up and try again several times just to make it up that area. Aside from that situation though, everything was ideal and we loved our relaxing weekend at the cabin. Thank you for having us!

Gorgeous retreat

Enjoyed all the wildlife and the gorgeous weather! There will always be bugs everywhere and the showers have seen better days but we loved watching the birds and bees. There’s a sweet little bird that nested by the door. The kitchen is lovely and fully functional, the space is clean, the beds are comfortable, and the view was incredible. No internet access.

Blue Ridge Beauty

Myself and a few friends stayed here in late April. The views from the cabin are as good or better than many on the Appalachian Trail or other nearby trails and parks, and the cabin itself was well appointed. The hosts were great and very prompt with communication. The road and driveway to access the property are gravel and somewhat steep, but I didn't feel like we needed high clearance or 4 wheel drive at any point (in good weather). I would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful and relaxing home away from home

We had a wonderful and relaxing time staying at the Moonshine Mountain Cabin. The view is even more spectacular than the pictures show and the cabin was very clean, well stocked, and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were a great bonus, too. Definitely take the AWD/4WD recommendation seriously, though, the mountain roads are bumpy.

More than 20 years later, we still haven’t experienced everything — new attractions continue to be introduced, giving us even more reasons to return again & again.

This area offers a true escape into nature, whether you're exploring the Shenandoah National Park, cruising along Skyline Drive or meandering down the Shenandoah River. You can spend the day hiking, taking a leisurely drive to admire the views, or simply sit on the deck listening to the sounds of nature.
The nearby towns of Luray & Front Royal add to the charm in the most wonderful way. Though small & quaint, they are full of locally owned shops, cozy cafés, inviting restaurants & a growing collection of wineries, breweries & distilleries. Luray is home to the spectacular Luray Caverns, while Front Royal features Skyline Caverns & both towns provide easy access to the national park. Whether we visit with adventurous friends, bring family members who simply want to relax, or steal away for a peaceful couples’ getaway, the Valley somehow fits every mood perfectly. Perched at approximately 2,000 feet above sea level, the cabin offers extraordinary, unobstructed views across the Shenandoah Valley. From this elevated vantage point, you can watch the sun set behind layered mountain ridges — a daily spectacle that never gets old. The curve of the Shenandoah River becomes is clearly visible & on especially clear nights, distant town lights nearly 40 miles away shimmer on the horizon beneath a sky full of stars.

Wildlife frequently passes through the property, with deer, rabbits, wild turkey, hawks & countless birds commonly seen, along with the occasional glimpse of a black bear or bobcat in the distance. Despite being surrounded by nature, the cabin provides modern comfort & a warm, inviting atmosphere — the perfect place to relax, reconnect & experience the mountains at their most beautiful.
