Casa Iguana by Akumal Direct Reservations includes a complimentary breakfast preparation from Monday - Saturday. Applies to 7-night reservations only. Cost of groceries and shopping fee are additional. Professional cleaning service is included 6 days per week. Beach towels and purified water are also included.

Casa Iguana is located oceanfront in between Akumal Bay beach and Half Moon Bay beach. The heart of Akumal, Akumal Bay is located an easy ten minute stroll from the property. Here you will find great restaurants, boutiques, dive shops, and famous Turtle Bay Cafe. The beach of Akumal is soft white sand and is an excellent place to sunbathe and swim. Especially for those with younger children!

A quick walk the other direction (north) will take you to La Buena Vida Restaurant and Bar and the beach of Half Moon Bay. Half Moon Bay is known for its excellent snorkeling. This is a great place to see coral and tropical fish.

Casa Iguana is situated on a large lot and that has two separate structures; the main two bedroom home and the adjacent two bedroom casita. The most wonderful features of Casa Iguana are the outdoor living and dining areas, swimming pool, play area for volleyball and an ocean front palapa with hammocks. This is the perfect spot for taking in this amazing place.

GENERAL LAYOUTCasa Iguana's main house features marble floors, granite counter tops and two ocean view terraces. The main house has two bedrooms. The master suite, located on the upper level, is furnished with a queen bed and is air conditioned. The master suite also enjoys a private ocean view terrace furnished with table and chairs. The guest bedroom on the main level is furnished with two twin beds, which can be converted to a king-size bed (specialized frame and connection kit for a seamless fit). This bedroom is also air conditioned.

Also on the main level are the fully equipped kitchen and dining area. The living area on the upper level is furnished with TV, DVD player, CD Player and Stereo System and also contains a double futon for extra sleeping. There is wireless internet throughout the property.

The Casita, which is just to the rear of the main house, enjoys the amenities of the main house, including TV, DVD, CD Player and wireless internet. The Casita includes a private living area, large and fully equipped kitchen and two air conditioned bedrooms. The first guest bedroom (accessed from the living area) is furnished with two double beds, the second bedroom (accessed from the first bedroom, or by way of it's own private exterior door) with one double and one twin bed. The two bathrooms are have been updated with marble and natural stone as well. Just outside of the Casita is large outdoor sitting and dining area. A nice retreat at the end of the day!

Casa Iguana also offers a charcoal BBQ grill, outdoor serving area and sink and adjacent patios with dining seating for up to 12.

Casa Iguana also has a large gated driveway which affords plenty of secure off street parking, or can also be used as a great dining/party venue for weddings and special events.

Ein perfekter Aufenthalt in Akumal!

Wir hatten das große Vergnügen, unseren Urlaub in einem wunderschönen Ferienhaus in Akumal zu verbringen, und können nur schwärmen! Das Haus selbst war sauber, geräumig und mit allem ausgestattet, was man für einen erholsamen Aufenthalt braucht. Aber was diesen Aufenthalt wirklich unvergesslich gemacht hat, war die außergewöhnliche Gastfreundschaft von Daniel. Daniel war von Anfang an immer zur Stelle und hat sich rund um die Uhr um all unsere Anliegen gekümmert. Egal, ob es um die Buchung von Touren, die Organisation von Transfers oder einfach nur um Restaurant- und Strandtipps ging – Daniel hatte immer die besten Empfehlungen parat. Er hat uns sogar geholfen, ein Taxi zu finden, wann immer wir eines brauchten, und hat uns stets mit einem freundlichen Lächeln empfangen. Seine Hilfsbereitschaft und sein Engagement, unseren Aufenthalt so angenehm wie möglich zu gestalten, haben uns wirklich beeindruckt. Wir fühlten uns von Anfang an wie zu Hause und konnten uns vollkommen entspannen, weil wir wussten, dass Daniel sich um alles kümmern würde. Wir können dieses Ferienhaus und den großartigen Service von Daniel jedem empfehlen, der einen entspannten und sorglosen Urlaub in Akumal verbringen möchte. Azul Riviera and Casa Iguana review

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had reservations at Casa Iguana the week after hurricane Beryl came through. We were assured the house was not damaged. After our flight landed in Cancun, I was informed by Scott from Akumal Direct Reservations that Casa Iguana lost power and they were moving us to Azul Riviera. They updated our transportation and we had a seamless arrival after a grocery store stop (highly recommended going to the big grocery store on the way to Akumal as the grocery stores in Akumal are small). Azul Riviera was wonderful - private pool and backyard had a private entrance to the Ya-Zul Lagoon (no need to pay entrance fee). We snorkeled there daily. Miguel was so kind! My boys LOVED the loft beds. The bedrooms are air-conditioned. Highly recommend asking Akumal Direct Reservations for a golf cart rental so you can get into town. Unfortunately, we lost power on the afternoon of our last day. I informed Scott and he was great in giving us updates. After a few hours and no sign of power coming back on, he offered us the original house as it had power now (Casa Iguana). We put our luggage on the golf cart and made it to Casa Iguana at dusk. Daniel welcomed us and gave us a tour. We only were there for the night, but it was stunning. The private driveway/courtyard area is peaceful and the pool was a hit with the kids. The view of the ocean was amazing. There are 2 casitas that are both fully air conditioned. Wifi only works in one though. I wish we had more time to enjoy Casa Iguana!!! If we only had stayed here, I would have still rented a golf cart as my kids might not have enjoyed the hot walk back from town in July (hot!!). Our transportation through Akumal Direct Reservations was on time. So overall the company was great adjusting our stay - thank you Scott! Both locations were fantastic and truly memorable. Both Miguel and Daniel (and their wives) are fantastic and take amazing care of the properties. Thank you for taking such great care of us!

Casa Iguana was perfect for us

The property includes 2 separate little houses (casitas) with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a kitchen in each one. This worked well for us because we had two families with children and bedtimes were different. There was plenty of space and no difficulty with sleep patterns. The kitchen in the principal house could use a new stove and the sofa in the casita should be recovered in a fabric that does not absorb humidity. I would also recommend more towel racks for hanging wet towels inside. These were very minor issues. The grounds were stunning and that is most important because in a place like Akumal you want to be outside as much as possible. There were two outdoor eating spaces where all ten of us ate most of our meals. The grill didn't work, but we didn't feel like going to all that effort anyway. The pool was about 6 steps up, so the little ones were slowed down a little and we felt that was safer. The palapa overlooking the ocean and the starry nights was a wonderful place to meditate, have a happy hour, or watch the sunrise. In between the pool and the palapa was a volleyball space which the kids loved for playing with their toys and running around. The property was enclosed by a nice wall and gate which we were also thankful for because the children couldn't run into the road and it cut down on road noise immensely. We felt quite contained and secure. Dani and Patti were available anytime and were great cooks and problem solvers.

Perfect Family House in Akumal

Our family of 9 had the best time at Casa Iguana. Communication ahead of time and while we were there was fantastic. The house and the casita were the perfect fit for my family. Two primary bedrooms in the main house and two rooms in the casita so we could split the boys and girls up. Daniel (the caretaker/cook) and Patty (the house cleaner/cook) were incredible. They really added so much to our trip. The breakfast they made every morning was so good. And Daniel cooked us dinner one night (highly recommend!). They became a part of our family and even came out to eat with us one night. The house is in such a great spot in Akumal. You can walk to La Buena vida, Jungla, La Lunita, the Beach, the shops, Taverna, and everything else you need in Akumal Beach. Thank you for everything!

Casa Iguana - 2023

I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We certainly had a good time and the location and property lot is quite good as we come to this area every year. We spent a lot of time in the pool area which is quite sizable and modern.The main house is very clean and well maintained. It would be better if there was a larger common area in the house. The 2nd villa out back is in serious need of update or replacement. All three thatch roofs are currently covered with tarps and you can still see holes in some areas of the roof and even some cracks in the walls let light in. It smelled musty there were some bugs in there too. It could be a great space with serious refresh. The step into the kitchen for this space is a hazard.There were a couple occasions where strangers walked through the property from the beach, so private property signs are needed. I should not have to go out to the far roofed area by the water and ask someone why are they there.The staff was quite nice and the meals were good made by Danny. For the price and what was available when we booked it was adequate at best. It has potential with more updates, but my group would not rebook here until there were updates.

Tropical Dream

The property was well kept with lots of room to roam from inside the main home to the casita to the outdoors. The pool was clean and sparkling with plenty of chairs and loungers even beach towels. Great location to see wildlife, dine at delicious restaurants, have beach time and most of these are in walking distance. Wonderful small community, with friendly helpful people. This place is perfect for those who need extra help and don't want to be alone. It has two people one of whom lives on property and another who's there during the day, both are always around and wanting to help. Daniel will cook for you all you have to do is ask. We so enjoyed our vacation and look forward to returning!

Second Stay = 5 Stars

This is the second time we have stayed at Casa Iguana, the first was 5 years ago. The property is just as nice as the first time and the location is perfect for both privacy or walking to town. Daniel the on site care taker has been there for a very long time and is always very helpful. Daniel made dinner for us 4 nights and the food is just as good or better than any restaurant we have found. I am sure this will not be out last stay at Casa Iguana.

Wonderful vacation!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: After years of visiting Akumal and usually renting condos, this year we opted for a villa. We couldn’t have been happier! Daniel and Patricia were wonderful as our on site staff. We loved having a pool to ourselves especially during Covid times. The property was beautiful and the lot was nice and large. We loved watching sunrise from the palapa by the water and the gardens of the property were stunning. The men with our group enjoyed interacting with the iguanas and one day a Coati walked across the volley ball court while we were in the pool. The location is perfect and safe. Very little Sargassum on the shore here due to a more rocky beach. The houses were well equipped and comfortable but I personally prefer a less firm pillow than what was provided but I managed just fine. I’m sure if I had requested a medium firm pillow the management wouldn’t have hesitated to provide. They are very responsive.We used both houses for our group and still had rooms more if we needed.We will return to Casa Iguana for our next annual visit to Akumal for sure.

Perfect Spring Break

We were a group of 9 people, 4 adults and 5 kids and the property worked out great. It is in a safe area, close to several restaurants. We went to La Buena Vida 5 times and also really enjoyed a dinner at the Taverna. Also visited the Turtle Cafe several times. Highly recommend all 3 of them. Manuel was very helpful, he prepared breakfast and cooked a delicious dinner for us. He also helped us with arrangements for a day trip to Tilum and the cenotes. The kids played in the sand volleyball court and the iguanas were an attraction. We felt safe. The property is beautiful and I would return in a heart beat. Covid testing was easy - there was a small, walk-in testing place in town. I think we paid $30 per person and got results within 2 hours.

It was clean, in great condition and the fans and ac were all in excellent working condition. The wifi was a bit slow at times but overall worked very well. WE liked that we could walk into town and felt safe in the area. It was super windy while we were there but that was not in anyones's control.Daniel, the ground's keeper spoke good English and was very kind. We had him prepare dinner on the first night for the 6 of us and were shocked at the $175 bill. We spent $150 for groceries for the week and were not sure how he could spend $130 for the groceries for the one night. As a result, we did not have him cook for us again. We also had him call us a taxi one night. He quoted us one price and then the taxi told us a different price. He said his friend had to use another taxi company and that was their price. It was frustrating and he did not push to make it right.

Great Family Gathering

There were 7 of us ages 18-78, and the house suited us all perfectly. Everyone had a little privacy but lots of places to gather, especially outside. The hammock had a sign up sheet! We had Daniel cook for us 5 out of 7 nights, and each night was better than the one before. Especially the guacamole! We would never hesitate to return.

Casa Iguana - Authentic Gem

The property management group did a wonderful job with booking and providing helpful airport shuttles and car rental info. Onsite, Daniel kept watch over the property night and day while Patricia made sure we had fresh linens and towels daily and cleaned as needed. The property itself is quite charming, authentic and comfortable.

Casa Iguana

Our family had a great stay at Casa Iguana over the thanksgiving holiday. The property was amazing and the house keepers, Daniel and Patricia, were so accommodating. Whenever we needed anything, they were willing to help out and go to the store for us or schedule any excursions. The location was also a short walk from multiple restaurants, stores, and beaches. Fantastic Casa Iguana

Perfect property for a family! The grounds, pool, and proximity to the beach was fantastic! I highly recommend the accommodations.

Best Experience In Mexico

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Firstly, Daniel and Patricia are the biggest added value to this property. They are more of a concierge than a caretaker and maid, they made our trip perfect. If we wanted to visit a Cenote in the area, Daniel would call a friend and get us a deal on the excursion, deep sea fishing trip, the maid Patricia's husband was our guide and for significantly less than other fishing guides (we had 3 fish on the line within 10 min). When we needed our covid test to fly back into the US, Daniel made one phone call and the local doctor came to the house and performed the tests for us. The meals Daniel and Patricia prepared left us speechless, these folk are outstand in the kitchen and we couldn't have been happier with their attention to detail. While my friends and family were sitting pool side and swimming Daniel would occasionally come up to see if we needed any more beer, water, food, anything we needed he had for us at a moments notice. One evening we went for dinner at La Buena Vida, we saw a very nice looking bottle of Tequila on the bar shelf, after buying a few rounds and being blown away by the quality of the tequila we wondered if there was any way to purchase bottles to bring home with us. That evening Daniel phoned the distillery and the following afternoon the President of the Tequila Distillery came to the house and offered us a wide variety of high end tequilas to purchase. This isn't something you're going to find at any other property in Mexico. Daniel and Patricia made our 16 day stay the absolute best vacation we've ever had. We look forward to vacationing at this property again very soon. The beach is exactly as you see in the photos, limestone bedrock, you cannot swim directly off the property, but there are white sand beaches 5 min walking distance in both directions. The house is very quiet and fairly secluded, we seldom knew if anyone was visiting the surrounding properties. I cannot speak highly enough of this property and their staff. 6 stars!!!!!!!!!
