No matter if you’re a family of city slickers or a seasoned outdoor enthusiast, an Alaskan vacation at The Talkeetna Lake House is an experience that brings the whole family together.

Talkeetna is unlike any other place in the world. It's small town charm and rustic ambiance take you back in time.

Award winning restaurants, world class fishing, flights to Denali- the highest mountain peak in North America, marine tours along the Talkeetna river, local shops to browse through, beautiful trail systems-including a 14 mile paved path that you can connect to right from the house, and conveniently located on the way to Denali National Park ( 2 hours driving time into the park entrance), the opportunities to enjoy this area are too numerous to mention. A private log cabin rental on small campground situated on 15 acres, you will feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere as you gaze out at the calm lake, yet just down the street you will find everything you need to stock your kitchen from a full line grocery store.

The house is the one cabin rental at The Talkeetna Lake Retreat that consists of a large yard overlooking Little Montana Lake, 4 kayaks, fishing boat and canoe are reserved for your private use, fishing poles, private sauna, private hot tub, access to paved bike trails that can take you to shops and restaurants downtown ( 14 mile bike path), and beautiful lake area with cross country walking trails along the lake right next door at the local high school.

The house is 1500 square feet and has 4 sleeping areas, one queen bedroom and one king bedroom upstairs, which share a larger bathroom area, day beds are set up in the living room, which consists of 2 twin mattresses total. 1 king bedroom on the main floor is next to the bathroom with shower/tub combo. The house is also equipped with WiFi, and a 65” flat screen smart TV with a selection of DVDs to choose from.

Owners Derek and Jessica are ready to assist in making your stay a wonderful one, as they reside in another cabin next door.

At the end of the day, families and other guests gather at The Talkeetna Lake Retreat to share the Alaskan memories they’ve made that day, swapping stories around a cozy fire or taking an easy paddle around the lake. You'll feel right at home.

Beautiful cabin with beautiful views of the private lake. With a hot tub, sauna and lake boats, this is the best place to stay (unless there were hypothetically a cabin on the peak of Denali, which there is not). A short drive from a few restaurants and is right across the street from a grocery store, this is the perfect visit for a week tour of Alaska.Also, Jessica, owner/host goes out of her way to make you feel at home.

Beautiful property

We only stayed 1 night on our way from Seward to Fairbanks. Wish we would have planned for longer. The home is very clean and comfortable. The property is beautiful with a very nice lake and surrounded by woods.

The most incredible place to stay!

Ultimate Lakefront Escape

My girlfriend and I loved our stay here! The host has put in so much thought and detail to make this one of the best experiences you'll have. Being able to relax in our own hot tub after a beautiful hike was amazing. If you're thinking about staying here - do it! You'll be glad you did!

I couldn't have been more pleased with this jewel of a cabin! Excellent location with easy access while immediately being faced with the beauty of Talkeetna area. The cabin itself had such great detail and warm touches. And the pure luxury of a hot soak under the stars and Northern lights! Jessica and Derek have created a magical place ✨️

Perfect Winter Getaway

Five out of five stars. We booked a last minute weekend away for New Years Eve and it was perfect. Jessica and Derek are wonderful hosts, ensuring we found the property easily and had everything we could need for a great weekend. Kitchen was completely stocked to make all our meals, the hot tub and sauna were pristine, and they even made a path around the lake so we could snowshoe safely. Their property is clearly a labor of love and we can’t wait to come back!

Amazing Alaskan Lake Front Cabin

The cabin is awesome and had everything you need for a comfortable and fun stay! The Host family are all so nice and accommodating. The Canoe and Kayaks are so fun. The deck Md porch are so nice. We will be back! Lovely place!

Beautiful property and cozy cabin feel

We loved staying here with our family and 1 year old. Had toys and games inside, but the best part was the kayaks and fishing in the lake. We caught a bunch of trout out on the kayaks/canoe. Jessica was super nice and communicative! Close to the highway for easy day trips to go up to Denali or down to anchorage or hop into Talkeetna for food and shops.

Returned for our 2nd stay - Magical!

We originally stayed in 2019 and loved it so much we wanted to come back again. We didn't think it could be more perfect than our first visit, but somehow it was. Jessica and Derek are the most gracious hosts and made the stay one of the highlights of our vacation. We can't recommend them or this property enough. The property itself is beautiful, but it's the little touches and thoughtfulness of the hosts that make staying there magical. They go above and beyond, helped us find medical care, started a campfire for us and even let us extend our stay another night. Talkeetna Lake House and Jessica and Derek are by far our favorite aviation rental of all times!

Perfect in every way!

We absolutely love this house! In fact, this is our second time staying here. The Lake House is right on the bank of a beautiful lake, complete with small watercraft and a firepit on the shore. My fifteen-year-old granddaughters were in awe when they entered the house--- running up and down the stairs and calling their friends with videos on their phones! The daybed and couch were favorite lounging spots on the cloudy, drippy days we were there. We could not make a shore fire because of the weather, but our son made a pancake supper memory using syrup from the birch syrup store just down the road. Jessica, the owner, lives next door and was gracious and helpful. The Lake House made the Top Ten list of our trip for all of us, even with all the memories of our Alaska Glacier cruise. ❤️

Best kept secret

The cabin was situated on the banks of the lake, just high enough to have a splendid view of the snow covered ice. The back deck was a favorite even in 30° weather. The propane fire pit kept us toasty warm while we enjoyed our leisure time in the sun. The cabin was cozy and clean and met all of our needs. Well stocked and Wood supplied. Jessica build us a fire in the wood-burning stove prior to our arrival so that the cabin was lovely warm and welcoming. Gas station, subway sandwich shop and full grocery are within half a mile. Our only regret is that it is so beautiful here we likely won't have our summer plans in place to find an open week to reserve. We will be returning again and again. Thank you Jessica for a splendid stay!!

Seriously one of the best places we have ever stayed at! First, Jessica is an amazing host. She is attentive, but not intrusive. She is helpful and has provided everything you could possibly need. From bikes to boats, fishing gear to a sauna and then to top it off a fully stocked kitchen! The beds in all of the rooms, including the day bed in the living room are so comfortable! The views from the house are amazing and we loved every single minute of our stay. We will definitely return! Thank you Jessica for letting us stay at your amazing place!

Terrific Time in Talkeetna

What a wonderful property with a fabulous view of the adjoining lake. Also there are a great deal of fun activities available for the lake. We went fishing and it was completely enjoyable. The house is also fabulous and well stocked with everything we needed. The owners were very available to us and very helpful with anything that came up. Woudl highly recommend a stay here.

Derek and Jessica Pearson were both born and raised in Alaska. They have been coming to Talkeetna together since 2004, and were lucky enough to move there in 2010 after college graduation. They have always loved summer and winter events in Talkeetna, to include camping, restaurants, festivals, fishing, snowmachining, skiing, sledding and softball. Now they get to enjoy all the same things and more, with their busy little boy and girls. They know you will find a few special things about Talkeetna as well!

Why they chose this property

This property was special to Derek and Jessica because of its lakefront location first and foremost. Jessica knew that having a lakefront home would be something she could enjoy and share with her family as she did growing up in a lakefront home an hour south of this location. Derek also grew up in a private setting among open forests with abundant wildlife an hour south of the house, so he knew the private setting was something he would enjoy as well.

What makes this property unique

The best thing about this home is the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere, yet at the end of the driveway are all of the modern conveniences needed to live comfortably....without all of the traffic!
