About this property

Beautiful large rural villa, private pool and stunning mountain views

A beautiful 4/5 bedroom refurbished rustic family villa in a truly Spanish rural location but not remote. Less than a 5 min drive to the nearest town. The swimming pool area is totally private and the pool is 10 x 5m with plenty of comfy sun loungers. We have a childproof barrier that can be erected upon request to prevent small children entering the pool area. Cots and high chair also available. There is a charcoal Barbecue and the dining area is out of the sun and overlooks the swimming pool. A shaded 'Moroccan' sitting area is ideal for total relaxation, siestas and evening drinks! Free WiFi throughout. The views from the large front terrace are of breath taking mountains and it's own olive grove. On the front terrace there is a stone table and seating, ideal for breakfast al fresco or evening aperitifs as the sun goes down! There is a flat screen 40" satelliteTV, and DVD player in the lounge with a DVD library. The nearby Rambla is great for children to explore. The area is ideal for cycling and there are 4 bikes for your enjoyment and a set of golf clubs if you decide to play at one of the local courses. Numerous bars and restaurants can be found in the surrounding towns, villages and coastal fronts. The beach is gorgeous and is a scenic 25 minute drive through the mountains and there are many places of interest close by, such as Mojacar, Almeria, Murcia, Lorca and Granada. All within half an hour away are Golf courses, tennis, horse riding, go-karting, water park and caves. You will be greeted close by on arrival and taken to the house, by the lovely lady who looks after the house for us. Her local knowledge is also at your disposal. The rental price includes a welcome pack in case you arrive too late to go to the supermarket and a mid term clean if requested. All linen and towels, including beach and pool towels are provided. All the bedrooms are air conditioned.
Golf: There are numerous golf courses in the surrounding areas. At least 2 or 3 within half an hours drive. One has a Spa attached so any member of your party can pamper themselves whilst the others play golf. Details upon request.
Skiing: Skiing is available in the Sierra Nevada about 2 and a half hours drive away.

Travel: The house is approximately 1hr 30 from Alicante Airport, 1hr from Murcia on the new toll road and 1 hour from Almeria. Jet2, Ryan Air, Easy jet, and Thomson all fly to one or more of these destinations from the major UK airports. The house is easily accessible via the E15 / N7 motorway.

Amazing!

This was an amazing stay. The villa was beautiful and exceeded my expectations upon arrival. The location is rural which was perfect for us as the children can make as much noise as the liked! The seated veranda area was lovely and we enjoyed lunching there each day. We enjoyed going to Mojacar and Garrucha for dinners, both had some really nice gems. The beach at Playa de la Higuerica was the nicest we found. The villa owner Diane was so helpful before our stay and Belinda was a mazing always on hand with advice or recommendations whilst we were in Spain. The villa was the most well equipped villa I have stayed in which really made it feel like home. Beds were comfy and all rooms had Aircon. I honestly don't have a bad thing to say, can't wait to go back!

Wonderful villa for a family break

We loved our stay at this wonderfully spacious villa. We were two families with young children and the care and attention made to ensure that the child-friendly parts of the villa were available to us was immediate from the start. The check-in process was smooth with the wonderful Belinda - who was available and helpful throughout - the villa was clean and immediately felt like home, it was full of amenities you would want in any stay, and the pool and outside area was wonderful for what we needed. We were mainly villa based, with a couple of days to the lovely beach at San Juan, and it was perfect for our stay. The local town had a number of supermarkets fully stocked, however was very quiet and with the majority of places not opening until gone 8pm for food this did mean we weren’t able to eat out as young families. This did not stop us though enjoying some home-cooked Spanish food and a number of BBQs during our stay. We would definitely recommend to any families or groups who are looking for a relaxing, rural stay in a spacious and well-equipped villa.

Great House & Pool

We had a wonderful holiday at Diane & Angela's house in the hills. The house slept 12 comfortably and it was a pleasure to sit on the patio and around the pool. A barrier had been put up to make it safe for the 5 young children not to wander unsupervised into the water. Diane & Angela could not have been more helpful, pre-holidays, in giving us any and all information we needed on the area and, although the house was secluded, it was only a 5 minutes drive into Huercal which has very good supermarkets, our favourite being Consum. On the spot Belinda was amazing, helping with any enquiries or problems. We had a wonderful family holiday and would recommend.

The best family holiday ever!,,

Two families stayed together in this amazing villa. It exceeded our expectations. The listing description does not do it justice as there is a whole separate room for dining or for the children to have chill out time in and other shaded areas . Belinda, our personal housekeeper lives near by and was always on hand; nothing was too much trouble. We struggled to get the children out of the pool to visit other superb places like Mojaccar, San Juan, Lorca etc. Huercal Overa is 3 minutes by car and is a lovely proper Spanish town . Our favourite restaurant is Las Vegas just over the bridge but there are many lovely restaurants and bars. A memorable holiday made even better by the wonderful accommodation. Thank you.

Fabulous family fun in this beautiful villa

We spent a fantastic 2 weeks in this lovely holiday villa. The pool area and back terrace are totally private and our young children loved the pool. Very well equipped with every home comfort, the caretakers ensured that our every need was catered for. They also gave us lots of tips for good, local restaurants and places to visit. We would definitely recommend this villa for a carefree family holiday.

What a find - private Luxury Villa

We stayed in this Villa with friends for a week at the end of May/start of June and had the most wonderful relaxing holiday. It really was a lovely as the photos show, particularly the large pool. What was nice was how well equiped every part was. There's everything you could ask for. A multitude of games, toys and lilos all neatly stored in a box near the pool. The kitchen was stocked with enough crockery and utensils to cater to a large party of people (we particularly liked the poppy cups and the extra beer fridge). Lots of lovely towels and beach mats and everything was placed where you want it to be. I think a lot of thought has gone into this Villa like the outside shower (which was warm enough to use as a normal shower if the other 2 bathrooms are full. I had two outdoor showers during my stay!). The whole property is very private as you can see from the walls surrounding the pool and you are not overlooked from any angle. Our tips: 1. Hire a car so that you can enjoy the surrounding area. 2. Get the Keith and Sue (who will meet/greet you) to give you information about places to go, they have lots of knowledge, oh, and book at least two weeks. You won't want to leave....

villa superbe

De retour à Paris avec de belles images et de beaux souvenirs de nos vacances espagnoles. Tout c'est admirablement bien passé. Votre maison est vraiment une réussite. Elle associe le coté rurale et ancien avec une belle décoration moderne que nous avons beaucoup apprécié. Elle extrêmement agréable à vivre surtout pour une famille. L'ambiance de cette maison est tres spéciale et permet de se déconnecter du reste du monde avec bonheur. Nous ne connaissions pas de cette région de l'Espagne qui fut également une belle surprise. D'un point de vue pratique pas de soucis particulier sauf quelques rencontres avec des scorpions mais qui sont restés très courtois. Un grand merci a Keith et Sue qui sont des personnes de grande qualité et qui ont été très efficaces. Amicalement Eric Perrot

Summer 2010

We came to Huercal with a two-family party (4 adults, 3 kids) and the property fitted us perfectly and very comfortably. The house is one of the best supplied we have stayed in with every thought given to the needs of a big group. There was much to do in the house, around the splendid pool, playing basketball or walking down on the ramblas which is challenging without being overly dangerous (although watch out for some drops if the kids venture there). The temperature during August was often very hot and we were grateful for the air conditioning at times when a siesta was called for. This certainly made it comfortable for the kids at night. The local town is fine - well supplied with supermarkets, bars and restaurants. The market is really well worth a visit for the excellent fruits and vegetables etc which are priced at an incredibly cheap rate. The house is about 30 mins from the coast and if the new access road is finished now it will be even less of a journey. The motorways and coastal road are easy to navigate and any of the local cities are worth a visit - especially Lorca and Almeria. We had some wonderful days driving up and down the coastal road to discover pleasant little beaches with a single bar (if any). Larger sea towns such as Garrucha are touristy yet pleasant and offer good places for eating (as do many of the interior villages - all worth stopping at along the way). The sea is usually calm although there are some rough spots. Alongside this natural gift we found the waterpark at Vera to be a popular day out with the kids (and it is a day - arrive at opening and take a big lunch for the day - plenty of gear to support you in the house for such a trip). In advance of our arrival (and during), the owners were very attentive and helpful without being intrusive or over-determining. While there is lots of information and guidance on what to do in the area and local town, there is enough variety to maintain the most restless of spirits. Well recommended for groups - whether you wish to stay relatively local or venture further afield (the interior on the way to Fort Bravo is spectacular and one can imagine taking a longer drive to Granada if we return). A wonderful stay for us so don't hesitate if heat, sun, sand and Spain are your thing!

We wanted to buy a holiday home in Spain and the climate here is wonderful all year round. The area is not touristy or commercialised so it has a truly Spanish feel.

What makes this property unique

The location is wonderful. Rural but without being isolated. The views are gorgeous and both sisters fell in love with the house after viewing over 20 other properties. It has been totally renovated with a rural, comfortable feel and lots of love has been put into every part of the renovation work. We use it as our own holiday home so it is equipped with every possible thing you may need for any occasion or event!
