Fun in the sun!

Perfect location with plenty of cycle/run routes from the Gite through the sunflower fields to the local village for fresh bread and pastries. Getting lost on occasions added to the fun! The pool was perfect for either relaxing or the many games of volleyball with the kids. Would certainly recommend both the Gite and area. Tony and Erica were extremely helpful in suggesting places to visit and were on hand if we had any issues ( we had none). It was nice to meet Shirley the owner and appreciated her accommodating our extra night. Great last week in France.

lack of a lot of things

There were a lot of things not good. 1 The lack of wifi which was promissed 2 a mice plague in the kitchen; we caught 8 mice!!! (every night they pooped all over the kitchen counter) 3 We couldn’t close/open the front/backdoor properly. Our kids were not able to do it by themselves. 4. There were holes in the walls (you could look outside through it) 5. The electrical outlets on the walls where loose. 6. We couldn't air the childrensroom 7. Bathroom: tile grouts were for some parts missing; you can see the wooden floor below. 8. The faucet in the kitchen was loose; we asked Tony to fix it; but after 1 week we did it ourselves. 9. The gas stove has no extra security; if one pit is turned on, the gas doesn’t automatically switch off if the pit is not burning. 10 The venting of the sewer was alongside the terrace. But not high enough so the smell was frequently very strong. 11 The pool; the water was not clear (when we left the water was clear; AFTER THREE WEEKS); there were missing tiles; the drain tile was broken; very dangerous.

Relaxing and stunning location.

Excellent gite with beautiful surroundings and pool. Lots of places nearby to visit e.g. La Rochelle, Ile de Rè, Saintes, Cognac, Surgeres, etc and nearby beaches. Tony and Erica very helpful and lovely. Will definitely go back again and recommend to friends and family.

Great little property. 2 bedrooms are small hence cost for a week I suppose, however great pool, excellent area to stay in everything you need for a break away. Friendly help on arrival.

Thank you for your review. We’re glad that you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate that the bedrooms in L’Ecurie are on the small side but, as you said, that is reflected in the rental cost. We’re glad that you found your help on arrival, friendly - I’ll let them know.

Great Property.

Great property! Clean, functional and ideally situated. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the L'Ecurie Gite. Close to La Rochelle, Saintes and with quirky local villages on the doorstep we found plenty to do outside of the quiet location when needed. We had the benefit of meeting the owners, a super friendly family who ensured our stay was without issue. Managed locally, the friendly couple too were quick to respond to questions and more than happy to help out with minor issues which were quickly resolved. The Gite itself is well-equipped and offers 2 outside dining areas, one covered and the other with a view of the pool, both of which we found to be useful when we experienced some adverse weather. The interior is basic, but it works, is clean and of a good standard. The pool is well kept and a good size although there may be a requirement for more poolside furniture. I would visit this property again and the proximity to the other Gites means that it would work for two families of four should the property next door be available at the same time.
