La Ferme is a spacious, lovingly restored farmhouse. It has a large kitchen complete with dish washer, washing machine, fridge/freezer, microwave, and a gas cooker with hob. There is also a large dining room with dining table that comfortably seats 6. There is a comfortable 3 piece suite, real fire and a t.v complete with DVD player. There are 2 double bedrooms. The spacious master bedroom also has a set of bunk beds and can therefore comfortably sleep 4. The second double room also has a single bed and can can sleep 3 comfortably. There is a spacious bathroom with shower.

La Ferme overlooks the village and has a beautiful view of the large outdoor swimming pool which is shared with 2 other gites.

The area is rich in Roman art with historic churches, villages and towns. Cognac, Angouleme, Saintes and Bordeaux are all within easy reach. There are excellent restaurants in the vicinity as well as well as a number of markets.


Location: The property is ideally situated for a wide range of leisure activities and site-seeing opportunities, but also for a family holiday, with beaches and other facilities within easy reach. The gite is around 40 mins from beautiful beaches, including the lovely Royan. La Rochelle, is unmissable for shopping, dining and visiting the state of the art Aquarium. The area is rich in Roman art with historic churches, villages and towns. Cognac, home to the famous cognac houses of Martell, Hennessy and Reme Martin, as well as an 18 hole golf course and boating, is in easy reach. Angouleme the major town of Charente is only 45 minutes away. Saintes is about 30 minutes away and offers plenty of culture for the beach weary, boasting Roman remains and an amphitheatre. There’s also the opportunity of riverside lunches and boat trips. Bordeaux is within easy reach (90mins) and there are several beautiful islands to see, including the picture postcard Isle De Re (110mins).

Gite "La Ferme" sadly quite neglected

Erica and Tony (the caretakers) are lovely people and were very helpful. However, the whole place looks quite run down. The gite smells damp and musty. The tiles in the living room are either cracked or loose and the grouting is missing on quite a few. The sofas smell really bad. You don't want to sit on them. I am sure it was very nice when the owners still had some interest in the place. That does not seem the case anymore. Outside there is weed growing everywhere and on the second night we couldn't sleep in our room due to the fact that there was a large nest of flying ants in a hole in the wall by the window on the inside and they decided to hatch that night. There were ants flying around the room! We had to sleep in my son's room in his bed and he had to sleep in the bunk bed. Which with his height of 1.85 m tall is not easy. The fridge-freezer had not been defrosted in some time which meant that the ice cubes got stuck and were flying towards us when we opened the door. We cut our visit short by one day for personal reasons, however I doubt we will stay here again. A real shame as the place has huge potential. Once again I have to say that Erica and Tony were absolutely lovely and it is not their fault that the place is in such a state. At nearly 360€ for 3 nights I would have expected more.

Bonjour, A notre arrivée personne pour nous accueillir à 13h . Une fois entré ont constate qu'il n'y à pas de cafetière n'y micro-ondes alors que c'est noté dans l'annonce juste dvd pratiquement tous en anglais. Perfekt für naturnahen Urlaub

Wir haben unseren Aufenthalt genossen, wenngleich das Wetter nicht optimal war. Bei bestem Wetter ist die Unterkunft auf jeden Fall super: Am Pool kann man sich gut und gerne den ganzen Tag aufhalten, auch gehört zu jedem Ferienhaus eine BBQ-Ecke mit Grill. Der Ort an sich ist sehr klein und liegt sehr beschaulich. Bis zum nächsten Supermarkt sind es rund 15 Minuten mit dem Auto. Bis zur Atlantikküste sind es rund 60 Minuten. Alles in allem: Spielt das Wetter mit, kann man hier eine gute Zeit verbringen. Platz und Ruhe sind da, die Verwalter sind sehr nett und das Haus besticht durch einen großen historischen Charme in naturreicher Umgebung.

Lovely small gite complex

Everything you could want/need from a home from home. Own patio with furniture, lovely clean pool even somewhere for dogs to cool down. No secure but surrounded by farm land so safe. We had a lovely stay. When we said we were Grand Prix fans the satellite TV was sorted so we could watch. Cheers. We were the first for this season hence it was not up and running.

Nous étions dans le gite "La Ferme", très agréable : les pièces sont grandes, confortables. La piscine est sympa. Quelques jeux à disposition. Le coin barbecue est à l'écart et à l'ombre. La présence des autres gites ne nous a pas gêné. Il manque juste un four à micro onde.

Linda et son mari à notre arrivée ont été très agréable. Pour nous location pas adaptée Manque WIFI, télévision anglaise, et très vieille, pas de micro onde même si après demande on nous l’a donné, couchage moyen lit trop petit, je mesure 1m80, les pieds dépassent du lit, aucun robot pour nettoyer la piscine, manque des chaises de repos sur cette dernière, vaisselle très légère, pas de bols, une poêle pour faire une omelette pour 2 …aucune sécurité sur les fermetures fenêtres et portes d’entrées Pour le prix, vous trouvez nettement mieux ailleurs.

THE PROPERTY IS RURAL AND VERY QUIET. THERE IS A FABULOUS POOL SHARED BETWEEN THE FOUR GITES. IT WAS VERY COMFORTABLE WTH PLENTY OF SPACE. IDEAL FOR OUR HOLIDAY.
