Situated in the old quarter of St. Valery - sur - Somme, this restored house is within walking distance of shops and restaurants. The sea is 100 metres from the property. St. Valery was the point from which William the Conqueror set sail for England and is still a traditional fishing port, On Sundays there is a fine market along the quay for local stallholders and others.
A narrow gauge steam railway operates across the marshes to Le Crotoy,and there are boat trips across the bay.Historic town of Jules Verne and Anatole france fame
.Paris 2 hrs by train(Noyelles) Amiens 45 minutes.Le crotoy and the bird park of Marquenterre 25 minutes. There are two large supermarkets in St Valery and a taxi service to the station.

This 5 bedroom house has a feature spiral staircase from ground floor to an another kitchen/breakfast area with small kitchen/ washing m/c on the first floor .Traditional staircase to the first and second floors. Cellar and recreation area.

Great stay in a quirky house, in beautiful village

We had a great time staying over the Christmas break, as the house is well located near the village centre and seaside walks. The house is quirky and very comfortable, with a lovely open fire for the winter.

Maison avec un charme certain et bon contact avec le propriétaire. Il serait cependant souhaitable de revoir la plaque de cuisson et de doubler les doubles-rideaux d'un tissu occultant. Maison très bien située.

Dépaysement dans une maison originale, bien fournie et chaleureuse

Nous avons apprécié la découverte chaque jour d'éléments de décor chinés, de pouvoir faire un feu et de se poser dans l'un des trois canapés autour de la cheminée. Bien reposant, toutefois la route est proche mais il y a peu de circulation. Nous n'étions pas habitués aussi à ce que les passants regardent à travers les fenêtres du salon pour la décoration ! Jolie maison bien décorée et bien équipée. Beaucoup de bruit côté parking et rue passante. Accès aux étages difficile par deux escaliers très étroits. Le prix est excessif au regard de la maison proposée.

Emplacement parfait à Saint Valery et parking aisé ce qui est appréciable pour qui connaît l’endroit. La maison est vaste et la décoration surprenante. Je ne voudrais pas être la femme de ménage ! Excellente relation avec le propriétaire et très facile système de clés. Juste une remarque sur la vaisselle et le four que nous avons du relaver et nettoyer pour le four d’ou 4 étoiles

nous étions un groupe de 10 amis et avons passé une agréable semaine dans ce gîte charmant

Le gîte dégage une atmosphère conviviale et désuète qui a plu à tous ; de plus il est idéalement placé dans le Saint Valery médiéval. La literie est de bonne qualité et la cuisine pratique( à part le micro ondes hors de portée sur le réfrigérateur et la machine à café entartrée)...merci pour le bois fourni pour 2 flambées dans la cheminée. Petit bémol, la cabine de douche qui mérite un nettoyage approfondi... Le gîte peut recevoir 12 personnes sans problèmes. Merci à Alaister pour son sympathique accueil. Martine

Great place to stay for a February break in France

Smashing spacious house, full of character which was warm and cosy on chilly February days. It is very convenient for all age groups to reach the attractions of Saint Valery on foot. Even the vet is situated next door so completing the pet passport for our terrier couldn't have been easier. The listing for this property was very accurate and the contact with Alistair prior to departure was excellent. We would certainly recommend both the property and St Valery.

Très agréable maison

Nous étions 9 personnes à passer un we prolongé à la Valerianne et nous avons bcp apprécié la chaleur de la maison ainsi que son confort. La déco est agréable, la cuisine bien fournie, la literie de qualité et Alastair disponible lorsque besoin. Quelques essuie mains et savon de base seraient peut être à rajouter mais c'est un détail, dans l'ensemble la maison est parfaite, bien située et confortable. A noter toutefois qu'il n'y a que 2 salles de bain pour toute la maison qui est bien située, vaste et chaleureuse. Je recommande sans hésitation cette propriété où je reviendrai avec plaisir

A charming house, perfectly situated.

The house is delightful, very well equipped and perfectly situated. It is clean and comfortable and very close to a couple of excellent restaurants. There were rather a large number of instructional notices, which were a bit off-putting and I suspect that the steep staircases wouldn't suit families with small children or the less-able visitor, but our group of fit, not-so-young adults had a splendid time and really loved the accommodation.

Marvellous Holiday!!

Great house , lots of space , well equipped , clean and tidy on arrival , and full of charm and character! Even though there is no garden , the sea front is only a couple of minutes away as shops and restaurants . St Valery has changed so much , with much more to do and see . The Family Goutin . Superbe sejour!! Superbe maison , beacoup d'espace , et propre quand nous sommes arrives , avec plein de charme et de caractere , bien equipee , meme s'il n'y a pas de jardin . Le front de mer est seulement a quelques pas , La Valerianne est bien situee , proche des magasins et restaurants . St Valery a bien changer depuis quelques annees , il y a plus d'activites a faire et a voir . Famille Goutin .

Magnificently spacious accommodation. Excellently placed for walking around the town and walking back from the restaurants. Not TOO far from the free car park. Very accommodating Owner when advised of accidental damage. The only down side was we found it was very dusty - especially in the bedrooms, which may be due to us being very early in the season, plus the top floor was a bit of a climb up and down for the younger and older members of the party who needed to go to the toilet in the middle of the night :)

Gîte charmant pour la famille

Nous avons tout aimé dans le gîte, et je le recommande vivement. Il est charmant, spacieux, propre, confortable, bien équipé, dans un cadre magnifique. Il n'est qu'à quelques mètres de tous les commerces. Nous avons deux jeunes enfants et nous avons été agréablement surpris par toutes les choses disponibles pour eux. Nous avons vraiment passé un séjour fabuleux et j'ai trouvé que c'était un endroit très commode pour l'accessibilité aux endroits d'intérêt à proximité. We loved everything about the house, and I highly recommend it. He is charming, spacious, clean, comfortable, well equipped, in a beautiful area. It is only a few meters far from the shops. We have two young children and we were pleasantly surprised by all the things available to them. We really had a fabulous time and I found it a very convenient location for access to places of interest nearby.

I am semi retired and live in Kent but spend as much time in France as i can ,as my two daughters live there.

Why they chose this property

St Valery always appealed to me ,for it's proximity to England and the also the charm of this medieavel town with its historic connections to England. The house used to be a cafe in the time of Jules Verne who lived across the bay ,and the romantic thought that one of Frances greatest writers might have got some of his ideas sitting over a glass of wine in this house, clinched the deal!

What makes this property unique

The big plus with this house is it,s size ! So it is great for large family get togethers, or by using just one floor it resorts back to a house suitable for smaller parties. It is within walking distance to shops and restaurants, and the seafront is a stones throw away .so for me not having to drive everywhere was a big attraction.
