A lovely studio apartment set in a lovely setting. It is quite private, only a delightful 15 mins walk into town and the hosts are very discrete. Highly recommended.
brilliant hosts. We needed a good break and we most certainly had it. Every need was catered for and the hosts local insights were very helpful. A huge thank you from us both.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the studio. Maria and John have put a lot of thought into the layout and design of the studio. It was very clean and in a aesthetically pleasing location. My wife enjoyed the short walk to the shops and John escorted me on a great bike ride up the Gib. We could not fault our stay.
Very welcoming, thoughtful hosts. The studio is roomy and very well set up. Great space for clothes/luggage and a well equipped kitchen.Excellent central location. Enjoyed walks along the nearby Mittagong Creek.
It really was home from home and so comfortable and well put together. I’d definitely stay again!

On arrival we commented on the pleasant exterior appearance of the property and the tasteful interior. The concrete floor, however, made the property very difficult to warm on a winter's night in Bowral. We made use of 2 electric heaters and the electric blankets but when we tried to boil the kettle the power tripped. As the owners live on site we called their number to find out where the fuse box was but received no response. My husband relies on a CPAP machine so he ventured outside to find the fuse box and try to restore power for the night. There were corpses of dead brush tail possums in the area. Uneasy that the power would not be reliable my husband found the residence of the owners and raised our concerns. It was not a productive discussion with the host suggesting that we, the guests, were responsible for our cold accommodation and power failure: arriving 2 hours after check in and not heating the place up and not using the electric kettle correctly. It was verbally agreed that we would find alternative warmer accommodation the next day and that payment for that period could be refunded.Apart from sleeping in the bed and showering we left the cottage as we found it. To date we have not received a refund.

The review by the female guest is misleading and a misrepresentation of the events of 8/8/2026.
The guests, arrived at our accommodation mid afternoon on 8/8/2026. They had ample time to speak to us about any issues. We were home on site all afternoon and into the evening. At 10.15pm the male guest confronted my husband, complaining about the concrete floor and stating that he had to go out to the meter box because the power had cut out. He was belligerent, aggressive and confrontational. He accused us of writing our own reviews and that we lied about having double glazing. He also indicated that there was a dead possum at the back of the studio. The possum was subsequently removed.

Over the last 6 years our record of service and quality of accommodation has been outstanding, as supported by feedback from our guests.
A beautiful, very well-maintained flat that was perfect for a weekend break in Bowral! Maria was very responsive, the place was spotless and had everything we need, and was walking distance from central Bowral. We’d certainly stay again!
As you drive down the lovely driveway nestled between other homes you are directed to your parking spot on the left. Across from the park is the Rouge coloured, mini orb, clad Studio. Inside of the Studio comprises of a window lined, sun drenched open plan Lounge/Dining/Kitchen area with polished concrete floor, a panel wall heater provides lovely warmth in the winter and in Summer every room has a ceiling fan as the source of cooling. The Studio is immaculately clean with that brand new feel, lovingly decorated by the owners artwork. There is a seperate main, queen bedroom including ample warm, crisp, clean bedding. Complete with Tv, wifi, comfy lounge and dining for four with the seperate adjoining bathroom including a great shower, heated towel rail and plenty of towels. The Kitchen is very well appointed including a supply of tea and coffee, large fridge with milk and first days butter, a choice of sweet or savoury toast toppings. The Studio even boats a stove top oven, washing machine with a clothes rack for drying. Whilst the Studio is located in the front section of the owners property sharing the driveway it is very private with a lovely native garden outlook across from the original cottage. The owners respect your privacy and due to its location away from the busy Merrigang Street it is extremely quiet and peaceful. We would like to thank the hosts for making such an effort to ensure we enjoyed our stay at their very comfortable Studio Rouge in Bowral.
Studio Rouge was ideally located and provided us with all we needed for a very comfortable 3 night stay. Good facilities, very clean and well maintained property.
We found Studio Rouge the perfect place in Bowral for our 4-night stay. It was spacious and very comfortable and tucked away from the street. We loved its central location, a pleasant walk from town.

About the host
Hosted by Maria French
We have been the owners for at least 22 years and have lived in this same street for 30 years. This property was transformed by us 15years ago when we undertook building a major extension and separate building which is Studio Rouge. We live on site.
Why they chose this property
This property tells an interesting story about part of the history of old Bowral. We chose to buy this property to save some of that history which was being destroyed at that time. Many of the tools used by the saddler, whose wife lived here in the early 1930's and together until they passed the property on, were left behind in many of the sheds. We salvaged many of them and donated some to the Berrima Museum where they are on exhibit. It is so conveniently located in the heart of Bowral, in a very quiet and private location.
What makes this property unique
This property offers a mix of the old and modern, featuring some sustainable elements like double glazing, extensive insulation with the living area facing north and is clad in mini orb. The Studio space is light and airy and spacious, with considerable room to move and relax. If you step out onto Merrigang Street and head in any direction you will encounter ducks on the stream, a memorial walk which in takes you in and around the centre of Old Bowral or head up the hill and experience a challenging walk up "The Gib" through the unique vegetation and can learn more about our history on the way to the lookout.
