Great location to Yosemite for easy short drive/access. Comfortable spacious accommodations. Clean and easy check in and check out. Worked great for our family of 4 plus grandparents along to visit Yosemite.

Communication with owners/management couldve been better, otherwise satisfied.
This home is beautiful and actually more spacious than the pictures indicate. It was clean and had everything we needed but it’s best quality was its proximity to Yosemite. It’s just 10 minutes from the entrance and made it a breeze to get in and out of the park.
This place is out of the way and when you pull up you wonder if you’ve made a mistake. But when you get inside and you’ll be very pleased by what you find. We enjoyed our stay very much. The appliances were new and it was well stocked with everything you will need.
This property is accessed by pulling through a campground area and older maps may not show that the location is accessible, but we had no real problem finding it. The road is somewhat steep and might be a challenge for small cars if snow or inclement weather was in effect. There is a steep set of stairs to the front and side doors. The home is spacious and well appointed, having been added on to. Access to Yosemite is ready to hand and this location is a great base from which to explore. We enjoyed our stay.

Beautiful nice and clean place, kids loved and we really enjoyed.
This cabin was perfect for our needs. Very clean, well furnished, convenient to the park and (especially important this week), the air conditioning worked very well. Thanks for a wonderful visit!
Need a comfortable place to stay after a full day in Yosemite? This place is for you since it's so close to the park entrance! Just make sure you pick up some groceries on your way in and have fun!
This fun location is in very close to the put in for the Merced River rafting. We loved staying here and will return.

Hites hideaway is a great place to stay with lots of nice features! Great master bedroom, deck is a wonderful place to hang out and it’s very private.
The kitchen was well stocked with spices, coffee and plenty of cooking utensils. We would definitely recommend it!!
We loved staying here. It was perfect for our group! The deck was amazing and the grill out there. We spent every evening out there and the mosquitoes weren't even bad. The hot tub was a bonus! It's very quiet and secluded which we loved. It is also easy to get to Yosemite.
Make sure you bring towels for the pool and hot tub.
We really enjoyed our stay at Hite's Hideaway. The house was spacious, comfortable and very well appointed. The kitchen had everything necessary for cooking meals. We even used the barbeque. The backyard was great for spotting birds (California quail, woodpeckers and jays). It had convenient access to the west Yosemite entrance. Would definitely stay there again.
We gathered here with family and friends from Switzerland. We knew we had made the right choice when they commented that this was a "perfect" place to stay... close to Yosemite Valley and the many trailheads/ hikes that started there, and all the conveniences of home. Perfect week.
What a beautiful house up on the hill above the Merced River. This was the perfect retreat after a few days in the backcountry. It was very close to the main entrance of the park and gave us quick access to the Valley. Everything was clean and ready for our stay. Our friends were saying how they'd like to come back because it's the perfect house in the perfect location.
Our group was 3 couples 60. Location was awesome which got us to Yosemite gate in 20 min. Property very private/quiet with a nice deck to hang out. The instructions to find property could be better. We enjoyed our stay overall however we did have some issues with property i.e. no propane for grill, main TV didn’t work, screen door to hot tub missing handle amount a few others that should have been checked before our arrival…..we communicated via VRBO site to get resolved with no response. Was able to reach host directly via text but responses were still unreliable. Issues were resolved but not until end of our stay. Cell service was very spotted so that may have been part of issue but we didn’t have any issues communicating to our host for our next VRBO stay using the VRBO site??
Our grandkids loved the game room and the big bathtub!
This was a clean and comfortable home for ourselves, kids and grandkids to stay at while visiting Yosemite. The steep dirt road to access the house can be a bit challenging but it’s not a long way to go. We all enjoyed it and it is only about 7 miles to the Yosemite park boundary.

One of the best rentals I have ever visited. It was clean, quiet, and well appointed. The owner/manager was very responsive. I wish I had more time to just chill at the house and enjoy the scenery from the backyard, but we spent most of our stay visiting Yosemite and other local spots. I really regret not using the grill and jacuzzi during our visit. Use of the pool at the Yosemite Cedar Lodge was great for the kids to cool off after a long hike. Just tell the front desk you are renting the cabin with the dirt drive way and they'll know what to do. Speaking of that, the road to the cabin is quite bumpy and steep. We had a loaded minivan and made it up without much concern but I'm not sure how a RWD vehicle would do on that road. All in all it was a great stay.

Great spot for visiting Yosemite!
I'm not sure you can find a nicer or more secluded spot to stay so close to the El Portal entrance to Yosemite! It took us just 10-15 minutes to get to the main entrance. We had two couples stay here for a few nights and had more than enough room. The house couldn't be more perfect - we were grateful for the lovely back porch and seclusion, especially after being around people all day at Yosemite. We knew cell service would be spotty (non-existent for us in El Portal), and the internet would be slow (fast enough to check email/Instagram), but that was great for us, as we were all looking to disconnect. Minus one star because the hot tub wasn't working. After hiking 10+ miles each day at Yosemite, we were a little disappointed. But regardless, I still highly recommend Hite's Hideaway for a Yosemite trip. If we have the opportunity to come back, I would love to stay here again!

DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS HOST. Our stay was ruined by a total lack of communication and support. After a long day at Yosemite, the water to the entire house shut-off during showers. I called all 5 (!!!) numbers listed but none were answered, no voicemails were returned, and one of the numbers was actually disconnected. I messaged an urgent request to the host in the VRBO app that night and still have received zero responses to that or any of the subsequent messages in the 5 days since. VRBO support also asked the host to respond. Zero response. The water DID start working a bit later that night during which time we found another review that had the same issue. The host should have provided a warning or solution.Beds: scratchy & unfitted linens, cheap mattresses, and sleeping 10 as advertised is only possible if you move one hide-a-bed across the room.Wifi: extremely slow and unreliable. I'm sure wifi options are very limited, but the extremely dated router & modem exacerbate the situation in an area with no cell service.Appliances: the dishwasher and washing machine are both musty and left clothes and dishes smelling unclean. A/C: the thermostat was set to 80 degrees when we checked in. Since it was 90 degrees outside, it didn't cool off until late in the night. Some simple fixes and competent hosting would make this an ideal house house with two primary bedrooms, three full baths, and extremely convenient access to the park. It's a shame.
Not much to look at from the outside and up a very steep road, but inside was a fully stocked house with all the fixings. Beds were comfortable, house was very clean and air conditioning worked, which was needed since it was 103 outside. Not sure we would want to walk back from the swimming pool down the hill, due to how steep the dirt road is, but great to have the pool available. We would definitely stay there again.
We enjoyed our stay at this location. It exceeded our expectations. Absolutely great location. Fully stocked kitchen makes it easy to cook here. House was clean and spacious. Would stay here again!
