About this property

Ideally located between two of the most known villages in the Aljujarras with a private drive leading directly to the house, benefitting from easy walking access to the shops, bars and restaurants of either village and numerous walks in every direction. The house was built in the traditional way with stone and chestnut beams and is double-glazed throughout. At certain times of the year the shepherd brings his sheep to the meadow next door and you can enjoy the music of more than a hundred bells as they happily graze the varied grasses and flowers.

Beautiful cottage in lovely location.

We had a lovely stay in the cottage. Inside is beautifully decorated and we found the kitchen had everything we needed. Outside is a secluded garden full of flowers with a few different places to sit - so you can be comfortable whether you want sun or shade. Nadia was a very welcoming host happy to share information about places to go and the local way of life.

Fantastico!

Nadia is the loveliest owner! So helpful & friendly. The house and garden are beautiful, we felt at home as soon as we arrived. An added bonus was her 2 gorgeous cats, we were missing ours! The house itself is beautifully decorated, (you feel like you’re in Morocco!), the gardens made us reluctant to go out exploring, it’s like staying in a botanical garden. The villages, Bubion and Capilliera are both walking distance, with lovely places to eat. I would give this lovely place more then 5 stars, if I could. Thank you so much!

Great house in a great location

This house is a wonderful place to stay. The valley is a fantastic area for walking, wildlife, flowers and culture - right on the doorstep. The house itself is very well equipped - especially the kitchen. We made good use of the local information, board games and the bird guide. We spent a lot of time in the garden, which is full of flowers and butterflies. It was a pleasure to meet our hosts, and we highly recommend this property.

Charming Property

Location of property was perfect for our itinerary (mountain biking and walking). Nadia and Marco were ideal hosts; there when you needed them. The house is equipped with everything you need and the shower is fantastic. The garden is beautiful - many say the best garden for miles around - you cannot help but relax in it, be that in the shady hammocks under the willow trees or in one of three outdoor seating areas. Overall, this is the best property we have stayed in over the six years we have been going to this area and, without doubt, Nadia and Marco were the most welcoming hosts.

A hilltop paradise

We had a fabulous 11 nights at Nadia and Marco’s cortijo in Bubión. We loved the location which was halfway between the Alpujarra villages of Capileira and Bubión with a good sendera (footpath) in between. We did some nice long walks on the GR7 either from the cottage or by catching the bus in one of the villages, including the ancient mule paths near Busquístar/Pitres and the abandoned village of Cebadilla. We caught the early morning bus for a two-day stay in Granada which was very convenient. We also got the national park bus from Capileira to the base of Mulhacen (mainland Spain’s highest point) - it’s five hours up and down and you need warm clothing at the top. Nadia was on hand to provide lots of useful information and we liked eating our meals in the beautiful garden, listening to the sheep bells with her friendly cats for company. The house was well equipped and having a washing machine was very useful after such long walks. Nearby places include Órgiva and Pampaneira which had lots of places to eat although Capileira was our favourite village as it was less tourist driven. Would recommend a stay here to couples or families and a car is essential to get from Malaga airport. Thank you Nadia and Marco!

Idyllic country house

We have just returned from 2 weeks in this lovely country home. We had a wonderful time. The area is peaceful and the house is set in beautiful gardens with fantastic mountain views. We went on lovely mountain walks. There are not too many restaurants but enough to choose from. We had some amazing meals, always with excellent service. The house itself is a little gem. We would definitely visit again but perhaps in September when it is a little cooler. Fabulous place.

Beautiful and idyllic location

Beautiful house which had everything we needed. Gardens are stunning, even saw a red squirrel whilst drinking coffee on the patio. Great views across the valley. Ideal location for circular walks.

wonderful

This place is cut from paradise, we know for sure. Breathtaking scenery, blissful garden with flowers, shrubs, endless places to sit and relax, a very warm house with exciting decorations that take you in exotic places with all of modern days necessities fulfilled. This place makes a special holiday experience, however the cherry on the top is the lovely hosts, Nadia and Marco, who we felt we've known for a lifetime. They are wonderful hosts, with endless suggestions for places and activities in the area, just needed to make time for all. Thank you both for a wonderful holiday we'll never forget. Superb cortijo, amazing location, wonderful hosts. The perfect place to enjoy the Alpujarras

We had a fantastic stay at Nadias cortijo. The house itself is beautifully decorated inside, full of interesting objects and all the things you need. The garden is a real pleasure with a wealth of flowers and wildlife, and so many places to sit and drink coffee/wine/eat and enjoy the quiet stunning mountain location. Both Nadia and Marco were great hosts: helpful and friendly when we needed but leaving us plenty of space and privacy. For anyone wanting to experience the Alpujarras this is the ideal place to stay. You are just 15 minutes easy walk between two typical villages with great shops, places to eat and plenty of character. However the house itself is in a rural quiet location with unspoilt views of the mountains and Poquiera valley. There are opportunities for amazing walks and drives throughout. We had a perfect time and would recommend to all.

Quiet and decoreated with love.

The house is located at real quiet place with a wonderful garden and real nice decorated house. Nadia and Marco did put a lot of effort and love in their house. We loved to stay here, and we will come back for sure!

Perfect situation to enjoy the mountains

We enjoyed our 2 week stay here surrounded by the glorious gardens, with views of the Poqeirera Gorge and near pathways for many mountain walks to close by villages and the wonderful sierras. The owner was extremely helpful with local advice on activities and facilities. Although within an easy walk to shops and places to eat and drink, it is quiet and peaceful, and swinging in the shaded hammock with a book in the heat of the day was a treat, and truly felt 'away from it all'.

Beautiful Mountain House Getaway

We arrived on a visit to Bubion on Monday 4/1/16 and fell in love with this charming mountain home - we immediately called Nadia to see if we could switch from our existing hotel and stay the remainder of our holidays here! Nadia and Marco responded immediately, offering us the accomodation for the period we required. When we arrived Marco met us with ample firewood for the amazing log burner. The weather was surprisingly mild - compared to England warm even! All of our expectations were exceeded and the photos do not do the cortijo justice! The location is perfect, quiet with fabulous mountain views, watching the clouds sweep up the valley was breathtaking. Overall Nadia and Marco's house is spotlessly clean, stunningly decorated and has an amazing ambiance. The facilities are A1 with everything being provided that we needed including fresh towels, bedding, linen etc. We would recommend this to everyone who is looking for a peaceful break as it's proximity to the mountain is now a well maintained road after the cycle race. Also there is a municipal pool with a baby pool close by that without doubt during the summer will be the best location ever for a morning swim. As for food we mostly ate in but would recommend an evening at Teide in the village to enjoy authentic Spanish company and great tapas. Our only reservation is writing this review as we would like to stay here as much as is humanly possible next year but after writing this - we may not find any availability! Thanks again for everything and we look forward to returning.

Beautiful setting and very good accommodation

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bubion in this lovely house with beautiful gardens. The views from the property are spectacular and there are many mountain walks to explore or alternatively just relax and soak up the tranquillity of the Sierra Nevada. The house is ideally situated for access to Bubion and the neighbouring villages where there are many restaurants. We certainly hope to return in the future. Wonderful, peaceful week in rural retreat

We are a family of four with two fairly young children and this house was absolutely perfect for us. It was very important to have a safe garden where they could play. It lived up to our expectations and much more. We were already familiar with the area and the location was perfect between the two villages with just a short but extremely picturesque walk to each one. The house was clean and perfectly maintained and the garden was an absolute delight. Our children were up early each morning to go and see the owners' horses, which they loved! Nadia and Marco were so good with them, chatting to them and teaching them about the horses (they asked a lot of questions!) They even managed to dig out a paddling pool for the kids. We did lots of hikes and if you need any information the owners are more than willing to help and give advice as they know the area so well. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting a quiet and beautiful setting in this area. Thanks to you both! We will definitely be back.

Beautiful Cortijo in an idyllic setting

The cortijo was much more than we expected and we were absolutely delighted when we arrived and saw it for the first time. The gardens and interior were both quite stunning and the house perfectly located half way between and within easy walking distance of Bubion and Capeliera. There was everything that we needed and Nadia even gave us milk as the shops were closed it being a Sunday. She also told us all the good places to eat and advised us on walks and lots of evening entertainment that was going on in the area as it was Fiesta season. Nadia and Marco were always on hand to advise if we needed them but never intrusive in any way. Our daughter went out riding with Nadia up in the hills and over into the next valley and enjoyed herself immensely.We hardly used the hire car all week as there was so much to do in the immediate area.We barbecued in the beautiful gardens most evenings but on the last night we had a great meal at Estacion4 as there was a Fiesta in Bubion. We followed the Samba parade around the narrow streets which was a great experience. We all had a great holiday and would not hesitate to return but for longer next time!!

Peaceful oasis, perfect location, magic place

The house was even better than the photos and everything was provided; plenty linen, towels, toilet rolls, local home-made marmalade, chutney and preserves and everything in the kitchen you could need. Beautiful house full of treasures and gorgeous textiles with comfy sofas, internet and tv (who would want it?) and music player (and cds!). The garden is beautiful and there was a seat for every time of day with different views but my favourite was the hammock undere the willow tree with the sound of the acequia beside me. The owners were there to advise and assist if you needed and they recommended a trek to the top of Mulhacen (highest mountain in Spain) which we did the day of the mountain blessing along with many other Spanish families and about 30 horses and the Virgen from the church in Trevelez who is carried to the top on a mule! It was a fantastic walk, an amazing experience and our hosts were there on their horses too. They were able to recommend plenty of concerts (flamenco one evening, guitar music, cello concert in another village not to mention the exploding fox! (you have to be there). We had a fabulous meal in Estacion 4 a five minute walk into the village (longer and uphill coming back but after a few glasses of wine its fine). We bought hand woven blanket (Taller del Telar Nade Favreau Bubion) hand woven rugs (hilacar, bubion,http://www.jarapahilacar.com/index.php/en/) ceramics (altabeiter). This is an amazing place if you like hand made things, lovely walks, trees, flowers, mountains, good food.....all that is good in life! The local swimming pool is not finished yet but it will be a real bonus if you have children going in the summer holidays. We had a fantastic holiday here and recommend it to any who need a soothing, relaxing, romantic break.

Wunderschönes Ferienhaus mit tollem Blumengarten

Mai 2024 Das Ferienhaus ist wunderschön eingerichtet, sehr sauber und mit allem ausgestattet was man braucht. Es ist der schönste Blumengarten den wir je gesehen haben. Es ist schön ruhig, kein Autolärm. Die Vermieterin Nadja ist sehr sympathisch und hilft bei allen Fragen. Die Gegend mit Bergen und Schluchten ist beeintruckend schön zum wandern, hübsche kleine Dörfer Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Christel und Frank

The guesthouse was fantastic - cozy, inviting, and very easy to stay in. We really enjoyed the wood stove on a couple of cool evenings in May. The mountain scenery visible from the house is spectacular. Nadia is an excellent host - attentive, helpful, and goes out of her way to provide information and insights into the local culture. We can't say enough good things about our experience in Bubion and our host. Highly recommend you visit. 10/10 rating!!

Our stay was magical ! The gardens are stunning . The home is cozy and warm and very well designed. Everything you might need was supplied. Very clean and comfortable. The views of the valley are amazing . Nadia - the owner could not be more helpful and friendly. 1000% recommend.

The most wonderful place we ever had.

A very lovely place to stay with it's beautiful garden full of flowers and we enjoyed it every day. The owner was very helpful and gave us much info. Within a 15 minutes drive up to the mountain you will be in an area with spectacular views of the Sierra Nevada. We would love to come back again.

After working for 25 years as a school photographer I finally managed to give up the rat race and follow my passion for flamenco and travelling around the mountains with my horses. I use eco products for cleaning, and recycle or compost everything, my garden and orchard are totally organic and provide a haven for the wildlife.

Why they chose this property

The Poqueira valley and it's three villages have everything you need without having to resort to driving a car everywhere, plenty of shops/cafes/bars/restaurants within easy walking distance but sufficiently far away so as not to spoil the peace and quiet of the cortijo and it's garden. We use the cortijo for a few months each year so there are family photos and personal possessions in the house, but also, a well equipped kitchen and large selection of books to be enjoyed by visitors.
