Grubby and soooo expensive
Positives to start - on the one afternoon/evening we were fog-free during our stay, the views were spectacular, right and left; also, lashings of hot water, albeit with a good few minutes wait for it to come through the taps.
Basically, the parking is much worse than described, so unless you’re really pretty good at turning your vehicle around in tight spaces to park up and have a co-pilot to assist in getting you back out onto the fairly busy road at the top of the 7 feet wide, 60° incline of a drive, you may well be marooned once you’ve driven down.
The whole property’s very tired and our studio was just not clean - cobwebs in every corner, bathroom fan disgusting, top edge of shower filthy - and way overpriced. Why there’s a need for 8 different styles of very old cutlery and 5 different patterns of also old crockery (inevitably, some chipped) in a studio designed to sleep two is beyond us; so many oddly-matched colours & sizes of old towels and crumpled, stained sheets is not good enough for the extortionate £303 per night we were taken for. There’s a cleaning fee of £102 included in the price for our 6 night booking - WHAT A JOKE!!!!!! We also wouldn’t expect to find condiments and canned soup in the cupboards up to five years past their best before date, not at any price.
There’s no doubt that the immediate area is lovely and within easy reach of beautiful countryside and quaint towns, but this property needs some serious attention, not least to the very dodgy walkway that takes you to the front door of unit 3, where the real possibility of the slightest falter in your step dropping you either through the garage roof to your left or into the thick, sludge of algae that lurks beneath the handrail to your right.
Sorry Vrbo ‘Premier Partner’ Steve, but what you’re offering isn’t up to standard, absolutely not at even half the price you’re charging. We’ve seen other reviews that also mention some of what we’ve noted here, but evidently you’re taking no notice at all, even replying to a 1-star scoring from ‘cori R’ in March this year with the word ‘scammers’! Charming, Steve. Why didn’t we contact Steve with our concerns? We decided to largely grin and mostly bear it as we were on stage 3 of our 4-stage vacation, celebrating birthdays and wedding anniversary, and didn’t want to deal with what would undoubtedly been confrontation - instead, we left a night earlier than we’d booked for, seeking solace in a hotel out in the Sonoma Valley.
