A fantastic place to stay while in Taos. The house is in a very quite street and is in easy walking distance to Taos Plaza. The house has everything that you need as is a very relaxing home. If we come back to Taos, we will definitely stay here again.

A very lovely couple! It was a treat hosting these two, they came with the intention of familiarizing themselves with Taos and they did. Would definitely host them again. Left the place in good order and communication was great.
This little Casita suited me perfectly for an extended stay in Taos. It had plenty of room for me and easily accomodated 2 people when i had a guest. Its a 10 minute walk to the downtown square and a 30 minute drive to Taos Ski Valley. The photos in the listing do not do it justice. For example the little kitchen was clean, well stocked with appliances and dishes, and i really enjoyed cooking in it. The casita has large windows facing south and west allowing a flood of warm winter sun in and at the same time were shielded from view of any neighbors (of which there are few.) The Taos sunsets in winter were a beautiful almost spiritual experience most nights. The nighttime sky was dark and full of stars and planets. I truly enjoyed my stay.
I rented this property for just over a month to enjoy the skiing and art scene in Taos. It was everything I wanted. Close to all the locations I was interested in, but also secluded & private.
David and Petra were wonderful property owners, and attentive to every need.
The location of the casita was very convenient and within walking distance to all I needed.
The casita was well stocked and definitely included everything you needed.
The casita is quiet and feels like you are staying in the country even though it is very close to the plaza. I loved my walk every morning down the dead end road. The casita is clean and decorated nicely. Thanks to the owners for a comfortable stay!
This was the perfect location for my 2-week stay in Taos, reconnecting with an area I love but which I hadn't the opportunity to enjoy in 35 years. Very conveniently located in a quiet, lovely neighborhood and only a 15 minute walk to the plaza, I couldn't have asked for a better location, a more comfortable lodging, or more accommodating hosts!! Thank you Dave & Petra; I look forward to a return visit.

Great Taos Getaway
Casita Rael was perfect for a weeklong getaway. The house itself is very Taos traditional - adobe outside, and painted in traditional southwestern colors and art patterns within. The furniture isn't fancy, but neither are my wife and I. It is quite comfortable and very clean; that's what counts.
Outside, the front yard is well gardened, shaded with several cottonwood trees, and very comfortable to sit in and read in the heat of the day.
The house is on a tiny dead-end street with a large field directly behind it. Thus, there are practically no city or traffic noises; blissfully quiet.
The house is located near several major art galleries and about 10 minutes walk from Taos Plaza. You can enjoy the arts district without even starting your car.
Dave and Petra, the owners, live next door. They're not in your business all the time, but are there if you need them. And they are delightfully friendly and helpful.

Loved Casita Rael!!
We had a wonderful stay at Casita Rael. David and Petra met us at the casita as soon as we arrived, even though we were later than expected due to the weather. The casita was large and well furnished. We felt at home right away.
We had snow for several days and David would come over in the mornings and clean off our sidewalk. He was also very helpful with sightseeing ideas.
We fell in love with Taos and are already planning another trip back. When we go, we will definitely try to stay at Casita Rael!!

Charming location with a view. Casita kitchen is well equipped. TV, DVD and internet worked even during a snow storm. Our visit was cut short by medical, but we will hope to stay again.

Sweet Casita, steal of a deal
We were in Taos celebrating my 60th birthday and wanted a place close enough to walk around town but still have some private outdoor space. This Casita was perfect...very charming and romantic with a beautiful well cared for front yard with flower beds and numerous sitting areas. The Casita and neighborhood felt safe and welcoming....in fact this Casita had the same homey feel of our house 30 years ago. The host lives next door and was available when we arrived and extremely considerate and thoughtful in asking when it was convenient for him to access the water in the yard. The Casita was very clean and you could feel the care and pride the owners took in their property. Walking to the plaza was very convenient....you do have to be careful for the few blocks there isn't a sidewalk but there is plenty of room on the side of the road to walk. What a terrific find! I hesitate to write such a good review as we definitely plan to stay here again. In the evenings we sat out front til the house cooled down (it was a bit warm in the Casita in the late afternoons as Taos was unusually hot while we were there...a fan in the bedroom was all that was needed to sleep as Taos gets very cool at night.) While sitting outside you could hear a rooster crowing, cows mooing, many birds chirping and swooping down from the massive old trees on the property to splash in the birdbath. You could hear children in the distance playing and family/friends gathered for BBQ...really a nice little neighborhood on a dead end street but only 1/2 mile to the plaza. This place is a gem!

The Ultimate Get a way!
My stay at this Casita was the best! I would walk into Town and visit shops, have coffee at a fantastic coffee shop off the Plaza and leisurely tour the shops and sites. I would then walk back and delve into the many good books available to read. Evenings would offer magnificent sunsets, each evenings sunset different and captivating. I am definitely returning next year!
About the host
Hosted by Petra or David Rael
David and Petra are both locals to Taos. They owned a business in Taos "Dave's Custom Cycles", for over 30 years and have since closed the business. David is semi-retired, he still teaches Mathematics at the local University and Petra works with the El Prado Water and Sanitation District. Both have been and continue to be active in the Taos and surrounding communities.
Why they chose this property
Peralta Lane originally was owned by David's Grandpa and over the years he gave parts away to his children. This particular Casita sits on its own fenced property, so it is secluded yet has an open field in the back where you can see the occasional horse, cow, cat lazily eat, hunt or what not.
