Suite Tortuga with Beautiful Gardens in Historical Quito

Wantara Garden Suites is a private condo, hidden behind an adobe wall from colonial times in the historical centre of Quito. A manor house dating back to 1900 and several adjoining buildings give home to 8 independent apartments. Your Suite is located in the manor villa, designed for a unique living experience. The mediterranean style independent apartment is carefully decorated and equipped with amenities. The private terrace overlooks the beautiful gardens. A breeze from the Panecillo hill provides fresh mountain air and you sit outside, surrounded by flowers and enjoy the sunny Ecuadorian climate.
An ample common area with gazebo, hammocks and BBQ invites to interact with the other guests in our condominium.
Tortuga (37 m2/398 sqft) is one of our small Suites of the 8 apartments at Wantara. There is a living room/bedroom with queen size bed (160 x 190cm), bathroom, kitchen with dining table and ample private terrace.
Free WiFi internet access, room service twice a week is included and laundry service is available at extra charge.
Our prices include all fees. No hidden fees.

Hidden Gem in Historic Centre

Beautiful unit with a European vibe, stunning gardens, walking distance to the heart of the historic centre and the friendliest hosts. Safe and secure, fully equipped kitchen, tastefully decorated and very comfortable.

Amazing Oasis in Quito's Old Town

Hidden oasis in Quito's old town, with kitchen outfitted with all the things you need. They even offer 3 types of coffee makers! And last but not least Claudia and Rolly the most amazing hosts of this wonderful place!! (And also owner Wolfgang) They offer a lovely breakfast, airport pick up, driver and laundry service. And will provide you with all info about Ecuador and help you plan if needed.

A gem within the city walls

This is a special place. There is a beautiful garden, the grounds are spacious and it so quiet behind the high walls to the street. The unit was tastefully furnished. Everything about it was lovely and staff went out of their way to help. We even saw a humming bird while sitting out in the garden. We cannot recommend it enough.

Wantara: An Oasis in Busy Quito

My husband and I had the best experience staying in Suite Tortuga at the Wantara Suites. First, the location cannot be beat -- it is just 3 blocks off of La Ronda (perfect for dinner!) and everything in Old Town is walkable during the day. Walking is how you see/feel/experience Quito -- taking a cab from Mariscal into Old Town every day will get old (and trust me, everything is in Old Town!) Second, the the suites are gorgeous. The owner, Wolfgang, was there to meet us when we arrived, hot and sweaty from taking the bus and schlepping our backpacks around town. The heavy wooden doors opened to an oasis of a beautiful garden and charming suites. We stayed in Tortuga, which had a large living area with seating and a desk, a very comfortable bed, a large, clean bathroom and a kitchen with everything we needed to stay in Quito for 5 days. Quito is very fast-paced and busy -- you will want a nice place to retreat to in the afternoon or evening to unwind. Finally, the staff is so kind and wants you to be comfortable. We arranged to have laundry done (only $5 for a load!) and our suite remained sparkling and clean. Wolfgang showed us some local tiendas where we could purchase snacks, Pilsener, and small items (including a bakery just around the corner!) He even arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport at 5:30 in the morning. I cannot recommend staying here enough. I hope we return to Quito one day, and when we do we will stay at Wantara.

Perfect spot for experiencing Quito and its surroundings

A group of us rented all but one of the units at Wantara for a recent work trip to Quito. It was perfect in every way. The spaces are beautiful. The cleaning staff keeps the units very clean. And, if you want to go on a unforgettable journey to any of the areas surrounding Quito, I highly recommend using one of the two tour guides/drivers associated with this property, Thomas and Marcelo. Our group became quite attached to them and they took small groups to different sites throughout the week (Otavalo, the cloud forest near Mindo, and to Cotopaxi and the surrounding area). This is a very special place...one we will never forget.

Why they chose this property

Fascinated by the magic of the 'Old Town' where authentic Ecuadorian traditions are still alive and can be experienced in its streets and places, we decided that this is the place we want to live. After a year of extensive search we finally found this treasure. It took us three years to carefully renovate the place. We created eight independent units cautious of not loosing the colonial charm of the property. Art objects in the lush garden and cozy living spaces gives 'Wantara' a special flair.
