Casa Sunshine, newly constructed in 2015, offers the finest interior, top-quality finishes, all with a traveler's comfort in mind. Amenities such as a pressurized water system will deliver constant, full water pressure. Ceiling fans in each room plus zoned cold by room a/c provides a welcome chill off on warm tropical days. The kitchen is fully stocked with full size refrigerator, six burner gas cooktop, oven, microwave, blender, toaster, coffee maker, fresh drinking water dispenser faucet, washer/dryer, built-in hairdryers in both baths, large closet space, plenty of fluffy bath towels, beach towels, and more. You will also be provided a plentiful supply of fresh drinking water that connects to the dispenser. Local landline phone for Cozumel calling. The pool is a gorgeous design of turquoise and blue, carrying through the tropical theme from Casa Sunshine. A cascading waterfall is a soothing, easy way to start a morning on the patio with coffee. Max 5' deep, there is also a shallow sunning shelf.

Away from the hustle bustle of the busy cruise ship crowds and tourism, Casa Sunshine offers a tranquil setting, walking distance to major shopping and grocery stores and a variety of restaurants nearby. From our location you can easily drive 5-10 minutes to the town square, and explore the oceanfront along the main Melgar avenue downtown. A short drive to the east side of the island includes beautiful pristine sandy beaches.

We have stayed in multiple VRBOs around the world. This was the most organized, coordinated, best-communicated and simply the best experience, from booking, to check-in, to check-out, that we have ever experienced. The welcome email was thorough, providing the required information alongside helpful information and recommendations that anyone on their first visit might require.The actual space was amazing. Well-appointed, more than the usual basics are provided (including laundry). The location allows for easy access from the ferry terminal and is within walking distance to groceries, street food and restaurants. Lovely courtyard with sitting areas and a private pool.I would recommend Casa Sunshine without reservation and feel it is our number one VRBO experience.

Great stay, excellent property and owner. Only demerit is the pool, I spent a lot of time keeping it clean due to the filter pump only running once a day for four hours. Would be nice to not have to spend part of my vacation time being an ad hoc pool boy. Otherwise, all was great.

Awesome Property

Would definitely recommend Casa Sunshine. I don’t think I would ever book during Christmas again as the neighborhood was loud with fireworks at all hours and loud music until 5am. Other than that hiccup, a great place to stay. Colin the owner is a great guy

We loved the house!! Colin was wonderful, very kind, he answered every question we had and never made me feel awkward for asking! The house is warm and welcoming, we enjoyed the pool immensely!! Didn't want to leave!

From the moment we entered the property, we couldn't believe how perfect it was! Colin has truly anticipated everything a visitor could want and communication with him was a pleasure. Comfortable beds, great shower, fluffy towels, filtered water, handy appliances, a cooler for the boat/beach, and more. The welcome book was extremely helpful too. We can't WAIT to go back! Great stay at Casa Sunshine

We had a great 8 days on Coz. Check in process is streamlined and easy. House is in great shape and VERY well stocked in not only the kitchen but in the bathrooms as well. Very comfortable. Hot water tank is small at 10 gallons so gotta take quick showers. Thats the only negative I found. Great house, good price, we will definitely be back.

Amazing

This place was so inviting, clean and comfortable. The pool/porch area was nicer than it appeared. I loved waking up every morning to the waterfall cascade. The location was great for us as it was a little bit away from the big commercial hotels but only a few dollars away from it via cab. The area was near a grocery store so we could stock up on snacks and drinks. There were many nice little restaurants within walking distance. The communication with the host prior to the stay, the days leading up to and during were easy, informative and prompt. I can not say enough to explain what a wonderful experience/place the home was as well as Cozumel!

Amazing!

This place is amazing, spacious, homey. We stayed for 5 days. Perfect for us! Communication with Colin was great. Pool area was so relaxing. Loved drinking coffee on the lanai by the pool. With the pool waterfall, the noise put me in a deep relaxing state! Will need a car if you want to go to town. We took a taxi for 70-80 pesos or the Tuk-Tuk type taxis (40$ pesos) to the center of town. Rented a car for a couple of days too. Very safe and local neighborhood. We walked to some restaurants as well. We will definitely be back to Casa Sunshine!

Ideal vacation home in a residential area

My husband and I and another couple recently stayed a Casa Sunshine. Joni has made the home very comfortable with all the amenities anyone would need while on vacation, we felt very much at home. She is a wealth of information and helped answer our questions regarding our stay, where to eat, where to grocery shop, the best taxi driver and things to do on the island. She recommended a scuba shop that we went with and had the best dive experiences ever!! Casa Sunshine is in a residential area and within walking distance of grocery shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed staying amongst the locals away from the heavy "touristy" traffic. We look forward to returning to Cozumel and Casa Sunshine. Thank you Joni for everything!! You made our stay just that much better!!

Beautiful and relaxing!

Casa Sunshine has been a real treat for our Cozumel vacation. We really enjoyed our time sitting by the pool watching the humming birds come and go, and keeping a look out for the turtle! The kitchen is fully stocked with everything we needed to make meals and we were able to walk to the store for our grocery needs. It's a nice location to get a flavor for local life, all of the sounds of the neighborhood are interesting. We felt very safe in Casa Sunshine and walking around the area exploring. Joni, the home owner, was very attentive and she truly cared that we enjoyed our stay. We would love to stay at Casa Sunshine on our next visit to Cozumel...but with all of these wonderful reviews, Joni will be booked solid for the next five years! We better get planning!!

A Wonderful Home Base for our Scuba Week

We really enjoyed staying at this property while doing a week of scuba diving in Cozumel. We rented a car, and found the location to be pretty centrally located between the harbor, downtown, grocery stores, etc. And when one member of our group had to spend the night in the hyperbaric chamber (!) we were only 4 mins from the best hospital- Costamed. The house was very comfortable, and we were able to cook meals in the well supplied kitchen. The back yard was a delight, and we enjoyed evening margaritas accompanied by geckos. Note that the house next door shares the backyard, but the host assured us that nobody would be there during our stay, and we had complete privacy. The scuba gear rinse area came in handy. A dunk tank (like a large plastic tote) would make it even better. We really appreciated that the house had enough TP and paper towels for our one week stay. Overall, a great experience- I highly recommend.

The Whole Package

As a long time visitor to Cozumel, I was happy to have found Casa Sunshine after my usual place wasn’t available. If you love communication and attention to detail, book this house! Colin was beyond amazing with a welcome book that has anything and everything you need while on the island. I’ve been going for twelve years and I even found some new places and met new people thanks to his recommendations. The house is fantastic and spacious. We missed our pets but luckily the local cats and even an iguana helped fill the void while away from home. The house staff were sweet and friendly. The location is great! We walked to coffee shops, bars and food spots easily from the house. A taxi ride is easy to get and extremely cheap. Colin was so helpful in getting our groceries delivered prior to our arrival (Cozumel Chef) so that we didn’t have to go to the store after a long day of traveling. We arrived to the house and were immediately able to transition to vacation mode. I will definitely be booking again and will be renting out the additional space for more family to join us. Hands down, best host I’ve had in almost two decades of traveling. Great place for first time travelers or experienced globetrotters!

Comfortable home minutes from downtown dining/shopping

We would suggest this house for a couple/(s) looking for some peaceful lounging at a great value. FYI, it is a single property with two separate houses, the main house being the owners. They weren't there for our stay so we were greeted by Teresa, who was very accommodating to our schedule and left us to our own devices, but we never felt neglected as she answered the phone immediately when we called (once for orientation and then checkout). The house was one of the cleanest VRBO's at which we have stayed and fully stocked with all the essentials needed to get by for the week. It's well built, has very effective A/C units and the pictures show the house almost as well as it looks in person. I believe both beds are twins (we only used one of them and found it perfectly comfy). One of the bathrooms had a waterfall shower, but it used up the small hot water tank so quickly that only one of us could take just over a 5 min shower without running to ambient temperature (which is actually what you use most times). The other shower was perfectly acceptable and didn't use the water as quickly so it wasn't a big issue. The pool area was perfect for relaxing with the loungers able to be put in the pool. As for wild life, they have adopted two "wild" kitties and we were told there were two turtles in the back yard (but I think we saw only one of them), however since we were there for the Ironman Cozumel someone wanted to nickname "them" T1 and T2. Mosquitoes were worse than we experienced in previous years on the island, however we thankfully had no problems at the house itself. We enjoyed our stay and definitely would book again. Best decision ever to stay at Casa Sunshine

I've been coming to Cozumel at least twice a year for the past 10 years. Typically, I stay at Scuba Club as recommended origionally by my dive shop. This time, planning a month to stay and dive, a hotel simply was not a reasonable choice. I am so glad I found Casa Sunshine and Joni, the owner. The house is perfect for 1-4 people, with Joni making sure that you want for nothing while here. The casa is layed out perfectly with 2 bedrooms at opposite ends of the house, each with their own bathroom. The living room opens to a patio area with the pool. Wake up in the morning to the waterfall in the pool. Lay by the pool during the day and you will catch the sun as much as you want or need. Joni is there to answer any questions or provide any help needed. She also intorduced us to neighbors who cook on Sunday some of the best food on the island. Joni also gives you your privacy...there were days that went by that i forgot she was my neighbor. Need something? A facebook message away. Now for the location. The casa is in a quiet neighborhood. If you want to tour the island or go to beaches to the south, you should rent a car. I rented a car 1 week out of 4, as I had a friend staying with me that didnt scuba, so we needed it to see various parts of the island. Other than that, I walked where I needed to go. Sam's club and Bodega are about a 5 minute walk for groceries. A walk to San Miguel waterfront for shopping and eating is 35 minutes. I walked 4 times to the airport, and that was only 35 minutes. I walked often by myself, and found being surrounded by the culture an absolute delight as well as perfectly safe. Diving? Depending if you dive out of Aldora/ Aqua Safari docks in city center, or the marina, Fornatur, south of town, your taxi fees are $2 or $5 respectively.....who needs a rental car? I could go on and on about how wonderful it is to stay at Casa Sunshine, but i have to get busy to start planning my return trip. Casa Sunshine is my new home away from home...choose it for yours and it wont disappoint!

HOME SWEET HOME AWAY FROM HOME

Fantastic! That's the best word to describe Casa Sunshine! I was a bit skeptical not staying at an all inclusive hotel as we usually do when visiting Cozumel, however this has completely changed my mind! The reason? Joni, the owner of this piece of sunshine! Casa Sunshine to be exact! From my initial contact via email to Joni, her warm Southern Texas hospitality jumped out at me. Booking was extremely easy and she answered all my questions before I made the choice to stay here. The moment we arrived we were greeted with a warm Texan-moved-to-Cozumel smile that immediately felt like back home. Joni gave us a tour of the house and some instructions that were easy to follow to make our stay more enjoyable. Every detail of the house had her touch and the renter in mind. From the moment we arrived, the house was nice and cool and there was nice cool drinking water and sodas in the refrigerator. There were goodies waiting for us that you can't even get at the big hotels. The house is immaculate and clean. The kitchen has everything and anything you can think of for you to use. The bathrooms are on another level including a rainforest shower in the the bedroom #2. We stayed here with our young adult children but this house could easily host two couples. The two bedrooms are at the opposite ends of the house for complete privacy. The master bedroom overlooks the sparkling clean pool that has a wall fountain that runs in the morning so you really think your in the rainforest. All the entertainment you need is there (netflix) and the wi fi works great in the home. The private pool is a great way to unwind everyday after the beach or snorkeling or diving. Joni has gone out of her way to accommodate each and every need you may have such as regular bath towels AND beach towels for your use. She also has an area to hang dive suits or snorkel masks after using these items outside. While inside the house you truly feel you are inside Cozumel due to the island feel to the home. The neighborhood is completely safe and there is a small convenience store 30 seconds from the house. The ocean is an 8 minute drive away and downtown is close enough for you to be there to catch a boat dive operation. Best thing about the house is the tranquility it provides while being close to the hustle and bustle of downtown Cozumel. For those wishing to relax and enjoy the sights and sounds of Cozumel, Casa Sunshine is your place! I know it will be ours when we return!

The Real Cozumel Community

A great vacation rental home, in a neighborhood that gives you a feel for life in Cozumel away from the tourist areas. We felt secure and safe. Having a rental car made it easy to reach the attractions, shopping and dining; you quickly adapt to the traffic patterns and the scooters and motorbikes buzzing around you!

Home away from home!

Nice two bedroom with all the items to make you feel at home. There is a visitors guide that the owners provide and it has all the recommendations you need to experience the best of Cozumel. I would recommend a rental car for shopping, sites, and going out to the beaches. I walked most places and its a safe neighborhood. Great wifi. I was working remotely and with ExpressVPN; internet download, I was able to get all my US websites and TV services.

My love of Cozumel began with my Mom bringing me to Cozumel as a child and showing me this beautiful island and the wonderful ocean and diving experiences. I've been coming ever since as it truly is one of the best island vacation spots in the world. My Mom, who has since passed away, left me with this amazing house that she treasured for many years. Casa Sunshine was built in 2015 with the sole purpose of being the perfect vacation rental property for your Cozumel retreat.

Casa Sunshine is located in a lovely Cozumel neighborhood of both newly constructed homes as well as charming local quaint homes. The location is truly in the heart of things, located only 2 blocks from Ave 11 which goes directly to the oceanfront intersection of the main Melgar oceanfront road and the Mega Super Center Grocery store a 5 minute drive. Heading to the East on Ave 11, the pristine white sand and secluded beaches of the East side are a short drive as well. The neighbors are friendly , courteous and we enjoy a low density of cars and homes as well as wide streets with plenty of lighting. Ample streetside parking directly in front of Casa Sunshine is available for your rental car.

Only 2 blocks away you'll enjoy the convenience of Sam's Club (US card works here) and an adjacent grocery store like a Neighborhood Walmart, with the Walmart brands and styles you are familiar. Within minutes you can walk to numerous restaurants & shopping from Casa Sunshine. You are away from the hustle bustle of cruise ship traffic and tourists. Instead, enjoy the best of location and island living.

Yes we do recommend a car for the convenience of sightseeing, visiting the many lovely parts of the island. However, everything you need is either a short walk from the house for grocery shopping, restaurants, convenience stores or an affordable 40 peso taxi ride to the downtown area ($2 approx. each way). Many wonderful restaurants are around Casa Sunshine, including a delicious chicken-in-a-bag meal restaurant around the corner to bring home a lunch or snack.
