About this property

High spec contemporary wood framed house - fantastic views

The Big Broom Cupboard is a brand new wood framed contemporary house. Built to an exacting standard, with underfloor heating in all rooms, is is warm and cosy as well as being light and airy.

Situated in a rural location with stunning views across the beautiful Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the house is adjacent to the Drakes Trail cycle way, half a mile from the picturesque village of Milton Combe (with excellent pub) and one mile from the Dartmoor National Park. The National Trust property of Buckland Abbey and a coarse fishery are within walking distance and nearby attractions include the Historic Market town of Tavistock and maritime Plymouth with its Hoe, Barbican and National Marine Aquarium.

The house has 3 bedrooms and sleeps 6 people. The master bedroom , with ensuite wet room, is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible. There are two further bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. There is an open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area with wood burner and all modern facilities. From the lounge, bi-fold doors open onto a terrace. Luxury bedding, soaps and fluffy towels are provided and there is free wifi.

As you will see from the photographs the grounds surrounding the house have been recently landscaped. There is a large terrace at the front of the house with fantastic views of the surrounding farmland with Cornwall in the distance. Ample parking is available. The house shares a drive way with one other property which is occupied by the owner. The two houses are surrounded on all sides by farmland and do not significantly overlook each other. Because of the very close proximity of farm animals, pets are not allowed.

Bed 2: First floor, King size double,
Bed 3: First floor, 2 single beds (both 3 foot)

The Big Broom Cupboard
The Big Broom Cupboard is a well-planned holiday cottage. It is fitted out to a high standard. (I loved the coffee machine particularly.) The house is nicely presented and very well provisioned. It is in a pretty location with lovely views. It is near the owner’s house, so it is not too isolated.

Exceeded all expectations
We highly recommend a stay at the Big Broom Cupboard. It's clean, comfortable and very well appointed. The property is well laid out with high quality fittings and appliances. Robert, the owner, adds some great touches including basic food essentials, flowers from the garden, cake and bowls of sweets. He is a fabulous host, being helpful but not intrusive. Sadly we only had 3 nights at the property, which simply wasn't enough to explore the area, We will return, and when we do we will stay here. Thanks Robert.

Heaven on Earth
We all really enjoyed everything, even the lashings of rain! The Big Broom Cupboard exceeded our expectations, as did the stunning views, garden and surrounding area. Rob made a brilliant cake and was very helpful with any questions we had. There were lots of extras in the property which were very appreciated. It would definitely be a property we would return to if we were in the area again.

Blissful retreat
The Big Broom Cupboard did not disapppoint. It's situated in a lovely setting in Devon. Robert and Sylvia were great hosts. We arrived to a welcome home made cake, that was delicious. The property is lught, airy, well equipped and felt homely and comfortable with fabulous views of the Devon countryside. Would definately return.

Why they chose this property

The property was completed by us in 2018 so is very new and finished to a high specification. Located on the family farm with great views of the Devon countryside and distant views of Cornwall.
