ABC acres' Guest House - Agritourism & Adventure in Montana's Bitterroot Valley!
(Please note there are four separate and unique rental homes on the property, please see Vrbo listings: Gate House 903543, Range View Cabin 2066081, & Yellow Farmhouse 2771749)
ABC acres is a permaculture farm in the Bitterroot Valley of Western Montana. Sustainable food production, healthy living systems, and ecological design is what we are all about. Our chickens, goats, and newly buzzing honeybee populations are out on open pasture, eating, resting, pollinating, and living the way nature intended.
Much like our livestock family, our vegetables, herbs, fruits and nuts are grown with the same approach. It’s a mixture of annuals and perennials intertwined with pollinator species, companion plantings, and multi-structured food forests…. nature’s way… a way of ensuring diversity, reducing disease, and increasing harvest for an overall healthy farm.
The Guest House was built in 2014. Offering four dedicated bedrooms, 2 ½ bathrooms, comfortable living/dining space, and well-equipped kitchen, the Guest House interior sits at about 1800 sqft. The structure was built with no VOC’s (volatile organic compounds) both inside and out, and non-toxic spray foam insulation, which speaks to the underlying theme of healthy environments which pervade throughout the farmstead. The Guest House offers both forced heat and air conditioning for your comfort, complete with HEPA filtration for high quality interior air all season long. To insure a clean, healthy drinking/bathing experience, all water is routed through an iron filtration system then finally through an ‘Alive Water’ system to reinvigorate & re-energize the water at all points of use. On the exterior, a covered deck along with outdoor dining set and lounge furniture for your relaxation and viewing pleasure. Seasonal strawberry patches situated off the North side, as well as a selection of culinary herbs for use in the kitchen, are all yours to enjoy.
The Guest House is situated in the ‘heart of the farm’. Positioned alongside the current implement shed (home to machinery and equipment), the seasonal irrigation waterway (April to October) and in close proximity to the goat barn and livestock paddocks, the Guest House is witness to the daily activities of the farm. As a guest of the farm, and from the comfort of the west facing porch, you may witness farm staff running pasture irrigation, osprey fishing for trout in the waterway, goats bleating in the near distance, elk & deer grazing the pastures at dusk, and so much more. It is these on-farm experiences that give staying at the Guest House its charm.
Conveniently located just a few miles South of Hamilton, a short walk to the Bitterroot River, and bordered by picturesque farms and public lands, ABC acres provides an idyllic combination of wide-open spaces, wildlife, and outdoor adventure, while also remaining just minutes from the Valley’s small-town happenings.
Don’t hesitate to contact our Farm Stay Manager with any questions you might have, where/what you can explore, and how to best enjoy the abundance of on- and off-farm activities available. Beyond a place to simply rest your head, ABC acres is here to enhance your visit and help create memories for a lifetime.

This place is hands down THE BEST. I can’t recommend it highly enough. I’ve stayed at all the beautiful homes on this property but the Guest House is my favorite. The outdoor porch has an incredible Mountain View and the creek is barely a stones throw away. It is beyond relaxing and beautiful. I’ve stayed there so much my grandkids think I own the farm (how I wish!!) Heaven on earth.

Breathtaking views and an amazing house.
The property was amazing. The hosts were wonderful to speak with and respected our privacy the entire time.
Every appliance in the house looked brand new and the house itself was immaculate.
If I were to ever come back to the Bitterroot Valley, this is the only place I would consider staying.

Greg, Sir.
Would like to thank you for the most excellent review, and it was our true pleasure getting to know your group.
Another big thanks is due for the mutual respect, and the care which was taken with our house and property - this is greatly appreciated.
We wish you all the best, and will hope to cross paths again somewhere/sometime.

Really well appointed home, beautiful scenery, lovely people on the entire Farm. Very well equipped kitchen. Comfortable and Clean. Easy communication with owner. Overall just an awesome time and our family will hopefully not have to stay anywhere else when we come back to visit Hamilton. And we have stayed at a lot of other places… trust me just book this one.
My family of 6 loved staying at ABC acres, we wished we had more time there. The property is absolutely beautiful and relaxing. The house was well supplied and clean. The beds were very comfortable and linens were excellent quality. Tim and Terry the host were friendly and hospitable. We loved seeing all of the animals from goats to deer not to forget the farm cat as well. This is everything you could want in a vacation property. I would absolutely book with ABC acres again if I am ever back in the area.
Three adult couples plus my two adult sons comfortably stayed at this property. The house was organized and well arranged, so all we needed to do was settle in and enjoy. We even enjoyed fresh produce and eggs from the farm!
In addition to the lovely home, was the beautiful setting! It was truly picture perfect. The outdoor seating with backdrop of meadow and mountains was stunning. We enjoyed many meals on the back porch in order to more fully enjoy this amazing view.
The property host, James, was most welcoming and helpful.
We would definitely enjoy another stay here when we return to this area!

Beautiful place all around
Amazing house with tons of room and everything you could need. Beautiful property and quite the amazing farm they’ve created. The owners and caretakers are incredibly nice, helpful and respect your space and privacy; even though you are smack in the middle of the farm. Being able to walk (15mins) to the Bitterroot River was also very nice; my husband caught a couple of trout. We did the animal feeding which was a big hit - our girls especially loved seeing the baby goats and baby pigs! And having such close access to the farm store was a real plus as we bought amazing steaks that we grilled at the house and fresh eggs for breakfast.
Your stay here can be as relaxing or as active as you like. No matter what; just stay here! Except, don’t stay here when we want to because we’d love to go back!

Betsy, hello there and hope all is well! Just wanted to thank you for taking the time and for the excellent review....so glad to again hear about all that went well. Your family was such a great fit for the farm, we really enjoyed meeting you all and appreciate you trusting ABC acres with your vacation. Wish you all the best and hope to see you again....here, there, or somewhere.
My husband and I celebrated our 50th anniversary at ABC Acres by gathering our family (six adults and one 2.5 yr old) for a week in a perfect setting for us.
Our grandson fed the goats some alfalfa every morning and he played several times in the onsite playground area.
We bought chicken and quail eggs, organic meat, jam, and pickles from the ABC Acres farm store.
The guest house we rented has a beautiful view of the farm and looks toward the west range of the Bitterroot mountains. We hiked on nearby mountain trails several times, went fly-fishing with guides and rode horses near Lolo.
Our stay was capped off by a terrific tour of the farm’s tropical greenhouse, and explanations of the overall permaculture management and chicken, goat, and quail husbandry.
The Guest House beds were incredibly comfortable and the kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils.
If you’re looking for a clean, (well-appointed yet comfortable) place on a lovely, mindful, organic farm setting in the beautiful Bitterroot mountains, book a stay at ABC Acres! Plus, the family who own and run it simply couldn’t be more kind.

Thanksgiving 2016
It's a unique property but the attraction for us was our familiarity with permaculture practices and the fun to be on a ranch. The guest house sits close to the ranch buildings and next to the owner's home. It was Thanksgiving, it was quiet around the ranch and we had privacy. We enjoyed our walks down to the river, around the property, watching the animals and the chickens, while observing their permaculture practices. We loved the natural surroundings and this property naturally calls you to go outside. We took our binoculars to watch birds and watch the white tail deer in the woods by the Bitterroot river. There must be over 100 birdhouses on the ranch. There are spectacular views from the dining room and front porch which over look their fields and the Bitterroot range. The property is accessible via short drives to many hiking trails and the town of Hamilton. The owners were very helpful and attentive but despite being very close in proximity, they kept their distance unless we needed something. The house has very clean, well maintained with comfortable furniture and beds. It's a relaxing place.

Dear Sharon and family,
Just wanted to take a moment to thank you for the kind review, we appreciate you taking the time to do so and even more so for giving us the opportunity to host your Thanksgiving festivities.
You really were the model guests....it was a delight to see you all take full advantage of the great outdoors and amenities ABC acres and the area have to offer, and we're grateful for the respect you gave our property as well the patience extended whilst we corrected the slight hiccup which encountered during your stay.
We wish you all the best and hope to cross paths at some point in the future, many thanks again.
James/ ABC acres.
If your looking at planning an event here. Get everything in writing and make sure they sign it. We had alot of empty promises for our wedding day. There was no warm welcome (James) was very rude and refused communication with us to help make our WEDDING DAY special. We had been in communication for months. James was more worried about more money rather than making our ceremony spot special. He had over 5 months to prepare the area and went out day before WEDDING TO CUT AND TRY TO WATER. Plus he had rented out parking lot plus a building so we couldn't setup ceremony day before and he had promised us months before. Like i titled it alot of empty promises.
Unreal setting with great owner. Put us in touch with great fishing guides, horseback rides and rafting. We wish we could’ve allowed for more time on the property because the kids LOVED the farm tours. We will be back here.
Our stay at ABC Acres was as close to perfect as possible. The house was very clean. The property offered great adventures for the little ones and adults in viewing the scenery and wildlife. Checking in/out was super easy and convenient. Owner communication was "instantaneous." The guest house provided good privacy. We would like to stay there again.
We recently returned from our stay at ABC Acres. James and the crew were very accommodating and informative. Our family (kids -17,14,11) enjoyed the farm at our own pace - visiting the animals, touring the shop, learning in the greenhouse and just relaxing at the house with a great view of the mountains. We also took some time to visit Hamilton, hike a trail at Lake Como, and do some whitewater rafting is Mizzoula. ABC acres was a great play to relax, with fun things to do in the surrounding area, as well. Thanks James!

Summer 2019
Great property, very clean and comfortable. James and the team are awesome, highly recommend.
We rented both houses on the property for 4 days in July. Had an equally positive experience at both.
James and the crew at ABC acres was amazing. We had several out of town guests staying at the farm for our summer wedding. Throughout the stay James was helpful, extremely responsive, flexible and accommodating. Definitely went above and beyond--from helping some of our guests with delivery of a package to arranging activities on the farm for them.
Everyone had a great time and had the best things to say about their Montana experience!
Idyllic pastoral setting. Very nice guesthouse, friendly goats and very friendly cat!

We were a party of 4- my 70 something mother, my two 16 year old daughters and middle aged me. All of us enjoyed our time at ABC Acres. James, Tim and Chris could not have been any nicer. The accommodations were spotless and the Southwells were incredibly generous. We will definitely be back!

ONE-OF-A-KIND SPECTACULAR AND COMFORTABLE!
I stayed here with two of my co-workers on a recent video filming trip. My overall comment would be...it was, hands-down, the cleanest and comfortable place I have ever stayed...PERIOD. Many VRBOs are a letdown. You arrive and the wide angle photos made the property look better than it really was. THIS PLACE DELIVERED BETTER THAN EXPECTED. The house has the finest amenities. The property gardens could win awards. I kept thinking, "It's as if this property literally jumped off the page of Sunset magazine." It's all that AND MORE. The owners were so nice. We were getting ready to cook and film a video out off the porch and realized we didn't buy butter when in town. I called the owner and asked if we could get some butter from him. Within 10 minutes, the owner and the owners brother both came over with multiple options of butter for us to use for our recipe. 5 STARS ALL THE WAY. THUMBS UP ALL THE WAY. COMFORT BEYOND COMFORT!

ABC farms is a wonderful vacation rental for anyone looking for a beautiful relaxing place to stay.
My family and I had the pleasure of staying at ABC farms while we were in town for a wedding. The home was very nice, the kitchen was fully stocked with everything you would need to cook/bake, the rooms were very comfortable and stylish. Our three year old absolutely loved the bunk beds.
This setting was just what my husband and I wanted for our two young boys. Every morning we would wake up and pick strawberries off the front porch, walk around the farm, and hike down to the river. The play area and tree house were an added bonus. This home is definitely very family and child friendly. Our family will definitely be back!

Relaxing and fun farm stay
We spent a lovely week at ABC Acres and just loved it! The house was very comfortable for the 4 of us, especially the kitchen which is big and well equipped. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful and the animals so interesting to visit and take numerous photos of (as I did!). We especially enjoyed regular visits with Cargo, one of the cats. She is very affectionate and quite the hunter! This farm is a unique and special place to relax and enjoy this part of Montana.
