This penthouse condo is located inside the luxurious Tulum Country Club. It overlooks the 2nd green and offers access through day passes to the entire TCC complex and beaches. It is walking distance to the Si'an Kaan resort and pools, the golf course and the Tao Spa & Wellness Center.
The entrance to the Tulum Country Club is off the main highway between Cancun and Tulum and we have posted a picture of the unforgettable marble entrance on the website. It is roughly 94 km (58.4 miles) from the Cancun airport and airport transfers can be arranged through TCC or by contacting Paradise Transfers directly; leave about 1.5 hours for that transfer.
Once you arrive, the fun begins! Your check in is after 3 PM as cleaning cannot be guaranteed prior to this time. We have a lock box outside the apartment and the code will be sent immediately prior to your departure for Mexico. One can purchase the day or night passes for the complex in the residences office (photo and map here) which is located at Avenida del Sol and Avenida Palma. Our condo is located in the last building (we have posted a front entrance picture) in the complex and is upstairs and on the left: I-8.
As you enter you will notice top-notch finishes everywhere: marble flooring, leather furniture, full kitchen and big-screen TV with paired bluetooth audio speakers (posted pictures). While the speakers are paired to the TV, they can be paired to any device one wishes. There is a small dining table for four located on this main floor and around the corner are the stairs to the penthouse floor. There is a separate A/C controller for this area as well so one can control the living spaces separate from the bedrooms.
Immediately to the left of front door is bathroom 1 which is also ensuite to bedroom 1: once again, all fixtures are marble and there are double sinks, a large shower and a WC (picture posted). The bedroom has a large window that opens onto the front entrance and has large blinds for privacy. The bed is a very comfy queen size with ultra-soft sheets and has it's own flat screen TV, ceiling fan and A/C temperature control.
Heading upstairs, we find bedroom 2 and ensuite bathroom 2. There is a walk-in closet associated with that bathroom and has a small safe for storing valuables. The bedroom has a king-size bed with views to the outside deck and jacuzzi tub (picture posted). There is a ceiling fan and the room has it's own A/C controller. The outside deck overlooks the green for hole 2 on the golf course (picture posted) which is close enough for you to pause and pick up a quick cold beverage if you are so inclined! The deck is also equipped with two chaise lounges and faces northeast for early morning mimosas!
Now, that you are acquainted with your new home away from home, let us tell you a little about your surroundings. The Bahia Principe' (now called Tulum Country Club) is a VERY large complex that includes not only the Si'an Kaan adults only complex (and nearby Tao Wellness Center) but also three other resorts that are named for the nearby towns: Akumal, Tulum and Coba. There are literally miles of white-sand beaches available and one that is designated for residents of Si'an Kaan and the condos (Kay Beach Club). Accordingly, the only way to manage the scope of this complex is with an internal "bus" system that takes one to all areas of complex. There is also the option of renting a golf cart.
There are over 15 different restaurants and numerous bars located within and around the lobbies, beaches and pools. The restaurants vary from Italian to Brazilian steakhouse to Chinese to Japanese and gourmet European and American cuisines. The rates for the all inclusive packages are based on a per person per day basis and vary based on how many resorts one wishes to visit. If one wants an all inclusive experience it is ~90 USD. This all inclusive package includes access to all the buffet restaurants, pools, cafes, etc in all complexes from 7 AM to 5 PM. The second option is for the a la carte restaurants mentioned above and is in addition to the all inclusive package mentioned previously. This package only includes dinner so plan accordingly and costs ~45 USD per person per day.
Finally relatively new but located very close to the condo is an area called "The Mercedito". This a great new location that is unrelated to the Tulum Country Club complex and does NOT require a day or night pass to visit. Included in this area are three restaurants (one Thai, one central bar and Mexican restaurant and a small burger breakfast place). Also, there is a place to rent the golf carts if you are interested. Last but definitely not least is a terrific combo store with groceries and minor repair center (think a small hardware store). They also sell beer and wine and liquor. So pretty much the best of all possible worlds.
There is also two other newer restaurants that are a steakhouse (Jool Boloom) and an Italian place that definitely serves the best pizza in TCC (La Rustica). In the Casa Club (large building next to the golf course) there is a gym (BeGym) which has passes for a day, week or month. The last newer place is located inside the Tao Wellness Center which is a 10 minute walk from the condo (in the opposite direction from "The Mercedito". This place is called Otan and it is a wonderful place with an eclectic menu. Please try it out and they also do Karaoke (which is also done at Jool Boloom as well) on one night a week.
Brand new is the actual Tulum Country Club. We are not members currently but are considering joining. This would open the county club to our guests including a restaurant, pool and a water park for kids. More on what whether we join or not yet to come. More on the complex around you below.
There are a number of activities for children as well as a large "waterpark" that is designed with kids in mind in Coba! There are also nightly shows for all members of the family in addition to those for the children. There are tennis courts, bicycles and other games available at various areas throughout the complex. There are several different all-inclusive choices for dining and drinking both with and without alcohol. Our recommendation is to read through some of these packages ahead of time on the Tulum Country Club website. Also for the adults there is a sports bar and casino that opens later each evening.
Shuttles are running throughout the complex however, the shuttle that runs to the residences (including ours) only operates during the high season (think fall, winter basically) and about every 45 minutes or so.
Finally, there are numerous opportunities to visit Mayan ruins in the area such as Chichen Itza, Tulum and Coba. These are magnificent ruins and are well worth the day trips to see them. If there are other questions that you have we ave available to answer them at our email address.
