Unique stay with 2 dwellings. Front has kitchen/living/toilet, and a master bedroom with ensuite. Rear has 3 bedrooms, bathroom and living area. Perfect for large family get togethers.Fantastic kitchen.Beautiful location with a regular coffee van serving KI’s great espresso.

Relaxing Holiday

Stringybark is everything you want in a holiday home, great views, comfortable beds, plenty of space and well equipped. The family thoroughly enjoyed their time (again) and will be returning next year.

Beautiful property

This waterside American River property is really well appointed. Our group of 9 from grandparents to 10 month old found the place comfortable with beautiful views and conveniently located for our 5 night stay.

Great stay at Stringy Bark

Our family had a fantastic stay at Stringy Bark, our 3 boys thoroughly enjoyed having the back pod to themselves. The location across from American River is such a beautiful spot. The house had everything we needed and made our holiday on Kangaroo Island very enjoyable.

One of best holiday houses I have ever stayed at, in a fantastic location

Clean, warm, with everything you need for the whole family for your stay. Fully equipped kitchen, picnic gear, sports and leisure equipment. All at a great price.

Total serenity

We loved our stay here. The view and peacefullness was amazing. Central to many attractions and the tennis/basketball courts and jetty nearby kept the boys occupied. Accommodation was very comfortable and had everything you need. We would definately stay again.

Stayed 5 nights at this wonderful location. Everything was great, very clean, spacious, all amenities, beautiful view from deck, peaceful and serene. Ideal for 2 families, plenty of space. Would have liked to stay longer, will hopefully come again.

What a beautiful property. Suitably designed for holiday accommodation and well appointed. Every need was catered for and it is ideally located. If I could come back I would definitely stay here.

Amazing American River Gem

The view is magnificent and we enjoyed the daily visits from the pelicans. The house has everything you could need. We would definitely stay again! Highly recommend.

Great house, great location

Loved our stay at stringybark in American River. House was perfect for our needs. Host Tracey made our stay so easy with excellent communication. House was very comfortable in a peaceful, quiet location on Kangaroo Island. Couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend.

Slice of heaven

What a beautiful, peaceful place to dwell. This was a great location to base ourselves from. Just watching the swans and pelicans drift by…so tranquil. Great accommodation, plenty of room and well equipped. Quick response from the host when we needed it.

Our family enjoyed a lovely time away in American River. Our accommodation was amazing. Perfectly located with stunning views over the water. Inside was fresh and modern with all the amenities you could ever want. Communication with the property manager was friendly and prompt. We would happily recommend to anyone.

The missing link between good and excellent

We found Stringy Bark at American River to be in an excellent location with great sea views and coastal vistas. It is conveniently located between Kingscote and Penneshaw which made touring around the island easy and all within a comfortable days drive in whichever direction one took. The house is spacious and vey homely ,in fact a bit of an overkill for just two people but that is not a criticism. The amenities and fixtures were more than adequate . The house was clean and well presented. The only criticism would be that internet access for guests was not available. In this day and age the internet is a useful tool not just for entertainment but a means of communicating and researching nearby facilities and other attractions, such as eateries etc. It is not simply a way to keep children entertained. Othewise this rating would have been higher.

Stay at Stringy

Our stay at Stringy Bark was very comfortable, quiet and relaxing. It was lovely to wake up and look out at the birds on the water. House was well stocked with all the necessities required and we loved having a cozy fire in the evening. Some hanging space in 'The Pod' would have been good and some kind of overhead cover between the house and the pod would make it even better as it was quite wet on a couple of the days. Overall though it was a wonderful place to stay, highly recommend.
