Home Across from Purg - Hot Tub/Pool Table and Great Views - Shuttle

Our 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 3,000 square foot home is in one of Purgatory’s newest and most sought after neighborhoods is located just across highway 550 from Purgatory Resort and is 24 miles north of downtown Durango (less then a 30 minute drive).

Enjoy the convenience of being at the ski resort, yet the privacy and additional space of a house with a garage (one space available). The resort is both an amazing winter playground, and offers a wealth of all your favorite mountain activities in a cool and comfortable summer climate at 8,900 feet. For ease, there is a free on-demand shuttle to the ski resort in both winter and summer.

The home is adjacent to over a million acres of national forest land and backs one of the finest hiking trails in the area. Unlimited adventures await in the incomparable San Juan National Forest with walking access to three watersheds with abundant trout and extraordinary vistas of the Needles Mountains. The home is located near the Purgatory Flats trail head, one of the finest and most scenic hikes in the area as well as a pond for fishing, paddle boarding and a playground and in winter, there is a cross-country ski trail right out the front door.

The house features an amazing backyard with a hot tub, BBQ Grill, Gas Fire Pit, plenty of seating and awesome views of Engineer Mountain. This residence is finished with hardwoods, slate, stone, and granite surfaces, all of the mountain-modern high-end finishes you’d expect t the ski resort. The 4th bedroom also serves as the game room with a pool table and TV.

Main Bedroom - King Bed with TV and Ensuite Bath (Main Floor)
2nd Master Bedroom - King with TV (2nd Floor)
3rd Bedroom - Queen with TV (2nd Floor)
4th Bedroom - 2 sets of Bunk Beds (single over Queen) (2nd Floor)

Book 7+ nights and a 10% discount is automatically applied. 4WD is NOT required in the winter (Excludes Christmas/New Years).

The home is not pet friendly - please do not bring your pets.

For an optional 4% resort fee, you will have access to the Durango Mountain Club which includes an outdoor heated pool with slide, outdoor hot tub and workout facility. The 4% resort fee included in the quote is the required resort fee that must be charged and does not allow access to the Durango Mountain Club.

Wonderful Stay - So close to Purgatory!

The home was very well kept and suitable for our two families (9 people) staying there. We enjoyed the ample space, number of bed options, hot tub, kitchen with all utensils you could ever need, plenty of seating areas, spacious garage for ski gear, ease of communication with the owner, and how nice and convenient the home was to Purgatory! Would certainly rent this home again!

We're bummed to hear that not having AC was a surprise. AC isn't an amenity that is common among the homes at this elevation (10,000 ft) as nightly temperatures drop into the 40s. For guests visiting from different climates, we always advise how to manage temperatures inside the home by opening the windows at night to bring in the cool mountain air, and closing them in the morning along with the blinds. This climate control exercise goes a long way in maintaining super comfortable temperatures inside the home throughout the day. Please call us next time you stay, and we'll give you the local run-down on how to regulate temperatures at this elevation! Thank you again for staying with us! It took maybe 5-10 minutes for them to arrive after contacting the service. You can't ask for a better ending after a day on the slopes than a hot tub either.We will definitely be coming back for our next trip to Purgatory!

It is spacious and comfortable, and the kitchen is well-appointed with pots, pans, coffee makers, toaster, crock pot, etc. The new beds are a significant improvement; and we love the on-demand shuttle to the ski area. The only suggestion I can make is to invest in an on-demand water heater. Given the size of the tubs, and the number of people the house accommodates, the hot water runs out very quickly. Minor suggestion that will not prevent us from renting this house again

The bedrooms were spacious and the beds were comfy. There is no air conditioning which meant the upstairs bedrooms got rather warm - especially considering it was over 80 out for most of our stay. I wish there would have been ceiling fans in the bedrooms to help move the air better. Twilight was easy to access. The kids loved the pond and playground. We also used the swimming pool at the resort. The home has been decorated very nicely and was clean and well-maintained.

Very clean, well stocked kitchen, nice furniture and comfortable beds. 2 issues - the hot water heater is not the correct size for a house this large. It should be tankless. 2, maybe 3 people were able to shower before the water was cold. Also, the back porch was a hazard. It was basically a solid sheet of thick ice. Walking to the hot tub was dangerous. We did find some ice melt in the garage and used it clear some but we couldn’t even find a snow shovel to use to remove some of the ice. The temps were warm so some of the ice melted on its own and I used a broom to push it to the side. We would definitely rent this place again but would love to see a few improvements.

Family Mountain Vacation

This mountain home accommodated our family of 9 very comfortably. We loved the patio, the view to the mountains is stunning and the hot tub was welcome after a day of hiking or fly fishing. We cooked nightly - the kitchen was well equipped with cookware and utensils. Mid-week the property management emailed to ask if there was anything we needed to make our stay more comfortable. I mentioned that a large pot for cooking pasta would be helpful for the next guests, and the next day they had one delivered to the house. We appreciated the attentive management team! We paid the additional fee for the use of the Durango Mountain Club pool and fitness center, located directly across the highway. Looking back, I wish we had not. There are so many other activities to enjoy: fly fishing, hiking, the nearby mineral baths at Durango Hot Springs Resort and Spa, river rafting, the towns of Durango and Silverton. If we ever go back to the Durango area we would look to rent this house again.

All that glitters

When we found this property on VRBO we were beyond excited to book it. Upon arrival the back porch and all of the furniture was knee deep in snow, the television remotes didn’t work, the fireplaces didn’t work, the cookware was worn out, the coffee pot leaked all over the counters when in use, the jetted tub in the master did not work, the dishes were dirty and had to be hand washed as the dishwasher is on its last leg as is the dryer. On the positive side the property management company was super responsive and immediately addressed what issues were feasible and the view at this property is absolutely breaktaking as well as super accessible to Purgatory.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. Your feedback is important to us! I do apologize the outdoor furniture was underneath some snow. We generally don't keep them out for the winter season as they will constantly get buried and most people don't want to hang out in the cold. Always call us if you have any trouble operating anything in the home like remotes or fireplaces. The fireplaces and remotes work fine but sometimes batteries need replacing which we are happy to do if you let us know :) Our housekeeping team confirmed the coffee pot and washer/dryer work, but we will take a look and replace as needed - same goes for the cookware. We perform kitchen inventory checks regularly for this person due to high usage in rental homes. We're glad we were able to resolve the issues and that you enjoyed your stay and location of this home. It was a pleasure to host you and we hope you stay with us again soon.

The house was a perfect location. The hot tub was a hit.

Things that I recommend to change. It was dusty Needs a dust pan Check in is at 4 so during the winter the heat temperature needs to be turned up upon arrival

We do perform deep cleans in the off season which should remedy any dust that has been missed from normal cleans. Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Beautiful house with everything stocked well. Very beautiful location. A couple of things to make it great for families would be to solve the water issue where when either if the upper/downstairs bathroom were used, one of the bathrooms water would be completely shut off. This was hard the first time when we figured out there was a problem with kids in the bathrooms with soap and shampoos and one of them completely shut off. The only other issue was the construction noise for all the construction going on in and around the area.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The setup worked well for our family of 10. Two rooms had the closets locked with no access which was a little odd. As others mentioned the construction did disrupt the peace somewhat and blocked our driveway access a few times. The view from the back was incredible and proximity to Purgatory was fantastic.

We do lock off closets for the housekeepers to keep extra supplies and one for owners to keep personal items. We checked on the status of the construction of the home next door and the exterior structure of the home is now complete so we anticipate the construction to be completed by mid September. We are so glad you enjoyed the home and its beautiful location across from Purgatory Resort surrounded by the mountains :)

Spectacular views!

We had an amazing stay and could not have felt more at home. The house was clean and had everything we needed. Communication with the property manager was easy and fast. The views from the back porch make this house truly special. Just a short walk to Twilight Lake for paddle boarding, fishing or kayaking and a close walk to the Purgatory trailhead. Our family had an absolute blast and would 100% stay in this home again. Highly recommend. You won’t want to leave that back porch!!
