Authentic Vermont Log Cabin Between Mount Snow and Stratton - No monthly rentals
Experience the rustic charm of an authentic log cabin in a secluded setting in the Green Mountain National Forest. The property sits on 3 acres of land, where kids can roam free in the woods, and everyone can enjoy a late night bonfire in the stone fire pit and admire the Milky Way. Add to that all the amenities of modern living: a new flat screen TV, an old-school rocking stereo system, and wifi (don't tell the kids..). The house is perfectly set up for socializing while cooking in the well-equipped kitchen or on the new 22-inch charcoal grill on the covered porch (great for winter BBQ!), or just relaxing around the cast iron fireplace. New as of November 2023, a Level 2 EV charger is available.
Late fall is one of our favorite times in Vermont. Besides the foliage, it is a great time to enjoy some of the many hiking trails in the area, including the Appalachian Trail. Jamaica State Park boasts a great rail trail for biking and Grout Pond is nice for hiking and canoeing. Of course, most guests visit us for the winter attractions. Mount Snow is 10 minutes away, while Stratton is about 25 minutes. For fans of x-country skiing, Timber Lake offers some great groomed trails (10 minutes away). Snowshoe options are plentiful, we usually just walk right out the door and into the woods.
The cabin is located in the Snow Mountain Farms area. There is a club house with a year round heated pool to which you have access about 1/2 mile from the cabin. There is also a newly resurfaced tennis court for your use. We are not doing monthly/season rentals at this time.

This is a truly special place! It felt like staying in the home of a friend, even though we've never met the hosts. Cozy, clean, and already planning our next stay.
We enjoyed our stay, great location for Stratton or Mt. Snow. Good communication from hosts. House was in good shape overall and as described. Had some troubles with the water heater a few times, hosts replied promptly.
The photos do not do the property justice at all. It is a beautiful cabin that is so cozy and rustic while still being relatively close to the mountains and town. We had the best time
Really enjoyed the property. A classic warm and comfortable log cabin with great amenities in a great location. The property manager was very responsive and helpful answering all questions. The club house with the pool is great. Very clean and convenient to the house.
The host was very communicative and the home was even better than the listing described. It’s the perfect size home for a family getaway. The kitchen has everything and very updated. Wonderful home for people who want to bring their pet. No stains or smells. Very very clean and impressive. Would definitely stay again.
We really enjoyed our stay here ~ a wonderful place for relaxing, a great location for exploring all around southern Vermont. Our host, Kurt, is kind, the amenities comprehensive, the cabin clean and cared for. Would happily come back here again.
My family and I stayed January 13-16, had a great time! House was perfect and bigger than we had thought! Kurt Will was very helpful and easy to contact with any questions! Would definitely recommend this house and would rent again ! Great time!!
I stayed here with my family and dog between Christmas and New Years, and we all enjoyed our time at the cabin. We were impressed with the space and privacy it offered. The indoor fireplace was such a treat as well. Kurt was very responsive and helpful along the way, which is always a big plus with any listing!
We had a very nice stay at this nice cabin in SW Vermont. The property was clean and in very good condition. The owner was quick to respond via email. They allowed our dog which was great. Check in was easy electronic deadbolt lock. The kitchen is well equipped for any common cooking tasks, and the charcoal grill is great. There is a very nice fireplace and plenty of fire wood. The heat worked well. The appliances are very new, and the TV is quite large. The master bedroom bed was comfortable, as was the living room furniture. Internet worked well, no Verizon service. Water has a bit of a sulfur smell, but not an issue. Overall great stay, and highly recommend. Snow Republic Brewery, Beer Naked Brewery, and Vermont Distillers were all fun visits and all dog friendly.
Loved staying at this place. Went with a few friends and everyone had a great time. The house was clean the kitchen was very well supplied the internet worked great. Very cozy with the fireplace and living room set up. It’s tucked in a quiet neighborhood in the woods close to mount snow where we go every year. The owner was cool and answered any questions promptly via text message. I can’t wait to hopefully stay here again next year I highly recommend it. My only issue with it was that we didn’t book a longer stay.
Great relaxing getaway for a long weekend. Cabin has all of the essentials needed. Check-in process very simple. Nicely tucked away. Owner very responsive. All one level, which was nice for a change. We very much enjoyed our stay with the pups!
Our stay here was just what was needed to get away from the stressors of life and reconnect with family. We were able to enjoy hiking nearby, as well as enjoy outdoor restaurants and breweries before coming home to enjoy a campfire and play in the large yard. Our only regret is not staying longer!
We had a wonderful time t this property. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking tools. We used the fireplace whenever we were in the house. The heating system is little quirky - don’t know how it would be in winter. We were there end of October. We had our little poodle with us and we all had a good time.

The thermostat is next to the fireplace, so when you run a fire the heat does not go on as much.
There are space heaters in the bedrooms in case it get's too chilly for your comfort. Not sure if you were aware of that.
Tucked away on Snow Mt. this charming and private log cabin awaits you. Spotlessly clean and bed was oh so comfortable. Had everything you could need. Many thanks!

About the host
Hosted by Peter Smith
Pete and I bought this cabin back in 1999, when we were both single guys living and working in NYC. We bought the cabin as a ski house originally, but found we enjoyed the area as much in summer and fall as winter. Soon, we were both married and raising our own families. All of or kids learned how to ski / board at Mount Snow, and the mountain and cabin hold a special place in their hearts. As our kids have gotten older, we don't use the cabin as much as we used to, so we opened it up to other families to come and enjoy our special place in the woods.
