About this property
Authentic Vermont Log Cabin Between Mount Snow and Stratton - No monthly rentals
Experience the rustic charm of an authentic log cabin in a secluded setting in the Green Mountain National Forest. The property sits on 3 acres of land, where kids can roam free in the woods, and everyone can enjoy a late night bonfire in the stone fire pit and admire the Milky Way. Add to that all the amenities of modern living: a new flat screen TV, an old-school rocking stereo system, and wifi (don't tell the kids..). The house is perfectly set up for socializing while cooking in the well-equipped kitchen or on the new 22-inch charcoal grill on the covered porch (great for winter BBQ!), or just relaxing around the cast iron fireplace. New as of November 2023, a Level 2 EV charger is available.
Late fall is one of our favorite times in Vermont. Besides the foliage, it is a great time to enjoy some of the many hiking trails in the area, including the Appalachian Trail. Jamaica State Park boasts a great rail trail for biking and Grout Pond is nice for hiking and canoeing. Of course, most guests visit us for the winter attractions. Mount Snow is 10 minutes away, while Stratton is about 25 minutes. For fans of x-country skiing, Timber Lake offers some great groomed trails (10 minutes away). Snowshoe options are plentiful, we usually just walk right out the door and into the woods.
The cabin is located in the Snow Mountain Farms area. There is a club house with a year round heated pool to which you have access about 1/2 mile from the cabin. There is also a newly resurfaced tennis court for your use. We are not doing monthly/season rentals at this time.

About the host
Hosted by Peter Smith
Pete and I bought this cabin back in 1999, when we were both single guys living and working in NYC. We bought the cabin as a ski house originally, but found we enjoyed the area as much in summer and fall as winter. Soon, we were both married and raising our own families. All of or kids learned how to ski / board at Mount Snow, and the mountain and cabin hold a special place in their hearts. As our kids have gotten older, we don't use the cabin as much as we used to, so we opened it up to other families to come and enjoy our special place in the woods.
