About this property
Cozy 2BR Mt Ellen Condo - Fireplace, Hot Tub, Pool & Sauna, Walk to Slopes
Fiddlehead Condominium is nestled alongside the base of Mount Ellen, the North mountain of Sugarbush Ski Area, with a scenic woodland trail connecting directly to the base lodge—a less than 10-minute walk (ski down when snow coverage allows!). The Fiddlehead grounds include a tennis court, seasonal swimming pool, fire pit, and trails for hiking, mountainbiking, and snowshoeing.
This fully renovated 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom, main-level condo comfortably accommodates up to 5 guests, ideal for 2 couples or families of 4. The primary bedroom features a king bed with a private en suite bathroom, while the guest room offers a queen bed. An extra-long living room sofa provides flexible sleeping space for a fifth guest, and a twin inflatable mattress available if preferred. All three rooms feature glass sliders opening onto private balconies with wooded mountain views.
Unwind by the cozy gas fireplace after your mountain adventures. Entertainment includes a 55" TV in the living room, BluRay/DVD player with a large movie collection, and complimentary wireless internet. The primary bathroom features a modern rainwater shower, and both bathrooms have supplemental heating for extra comfort. The fully equipped kitchen includes a dishwasher, and the unit has in-unit washer and dryer for your convenience.
AMENITIES & RECREATION: The common area game/recreation room features shuffleboard, ping pong, and foosball tables—perfect for family fun. In winter, soothe tired muscles in the 10-person indoor hot tub and his/hers saunas after skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, or exploring the area. During summer months, the outdoor pool area is ideal for relaxing and cooling off after hiking, mountain biking, golfing, or exploring the Mad River Valley's charming villages and local breweries.
YEAR-ROUND ADVENTURES: While Sugarbush offers world-class winter skiing, summer brings spectacular hiking (Mt Ellen is on the Long Trail), mountain biking on surrounding trails, kayaking, and events like the Mad Marathon, Mountain Music Festival, and Green Mountain Stage Race. The picturesque village of Waitsfield is just minutes away with farm-to-table dining, craft breweries, authentic Vermont shopping, and a classic covered bridge.
NOTE: No dogs allowed per association rules. We appreciate your understanding.

About the host
Hosted by Augusta Nichols-Even
We're lifelong New Englanders who enjoy four-season mountain adventuring—skiing, hiking, and everything Vermont offers year-round. We fell in love with Sugarbush's beauty in every season and all that the Mad River Valley has to offer. It's our pleasure to share this special place, our home for 25 years, with fellow outdoor adventurers.
Why they chose this property
Living in Hong Kong and Lisbon (formerly in Boston before going overseas), Fiddlehead is our escape to Vermont's authentic mountain life. The Mad River Valley truly has it all: world-class skiing and hiking at Sugarbush, the Mad River for swimming and tubing, craft brewery tours at Lawson's Finest and The Alchemist, the famous Ben & Jerry's factory, and championship golf courses.
Vermont's culinary scene shines here—discover award-winning local cheeses, artisan maple products, and gourmet provisions at local grocers, then enjoy farm-to-table dining at exceptional restaurants or stock up at the vibrant farmer's market.
Beyond the valley, explore Montpelier (30 minutes away)—America's smallest and most charming state capital. Wander its walkable downtown filled with independent bookstores, artisan shops, eclectic restaurants, and year-round community events that capture Vermont's creative spirit.
A bit of a hidden gem, it's the perfect balance of adventure and authentic Vermont culture—close enough for New England weekend getaways, peaceful enough to truly disconnect. We are grateful to call Fiddlehead our home when we return from abroad.

What makes this property unique
Fiddlehead offers unbeatable location—tucked into tranquil woods yet with unrivaled proximity to Mt. Ellen's base lodge. Skip the resort parking chaos while enjoying genuine near-slopeside convenience. Miles of private trails surrounding the property provide direct access to snowshoeing in winter and hiking or mountain biking in warmer months.
Our fully renovated condo combines modern comfort (gas fireplace, rainwater shower, updated kitchen) with several on-site amenities—winter hot tub and sauna, summer pool, year-round game room. It's resort-style living in a private forest setting.
Because Fiddlehead is our home when we return from abroad, our condo is well appointed for comfortable, personalized living - not bare-bones rental. Particularly the kitchen, with almost every quality tool imaginable! We hope you enjoy this space as much as we do.
