About this property
"This house lives for the lake!" Flat, fenced-in yard, no stairs to Lake Rabun.
Located on a rare, FLAT, FENCED-in lakefront lot on Lake Rabun - great for children of all ages - “Little Lakemont” is a two-story, family-owned home in the scenic Northeast Georgia Mountains. Bring your bathing suits and a carefree attitude to this quiet section of the lake, where your only task is to relax and enjoy the beauty that surrounds.
This immaculate home, located less than two hours north of Atlanta, sleeps up to 9 guests, ideal for a family vacation, weekend getaway or a girls' or guys' trip. Little Lakemont is neat as a pin, tastefully and comfortably furnished, and offers the ability to accommodate a crowd, if needed, while still offering cozy privacy to its treasured guests. Easily accessible year-round via paved Lake Rabun Road (trust us, this is a perk!), Little Lakemont has ample parking and no daunting flights of stairs to the house, boathouse or the lake (perk! perk! perk! perk!).
Our large FENCED-IN back lawn is perfect for running around playing tag, chasing fireflies, roasting marshmallows in the in-ground fire-pit or squaring off in a game of Giant Jenga, Horseshoes or Corn Hole (all provided!) under the shade of the Sycamore trees that border the lake. Relax on the wrap-around screened-in porch – where we bet you’ll spend the majority of your time – with unobstructed views of our boathouse and Lake Rabun. You and your guests can enjoy the peaceful calm of “The Narrows” and its no-wake zone, making swimming and water recreation worry-free. Explore the water via our 3-person, 17-foot canoe and 1-person, 15-foot kayak, or stay grounded and make use of our charcoal grill and the boathouse's lounge chairs, dining table and chairs and porch swing.
Speaking of the boathouse, ours is partially covered so you can sunbathe or relax in the shade. We have two boat slips, so feel free to bring your own boat (the Lake Rabun Beach boat ramp is just a stone's throw away) or rent via Michael at Lake Rabun Boat Rentals (706-782-4438) or Hall's Boat House (706-782-4981) . Just be mindful of the no-wake zone in The Narrows, and be sure to wave as friendly “neighbors” pass by, as Southern Hospitality is on full display here at Lake Rabun.
As you enter Little Lakemont through the front door (via the screened-in, wrap-around porch), you’re welcomed immediately by the open kitchen and dining area that overlook the family room. Cook (or simply eat) to your heart’s content with all the pots, pans, plates and utensils one could need. The kitchen features a gas-burning oven and stove, microwave, toaster oven, drip coffee machine, Keurig, dishwasher, garbage disposal and refrigerator with ice machine. We also have an ice-cream machine, slow-cooker, popcorn machine, shaved ice machine, blender and hand-mixer.
If by chance you aren’t taking your meals on the dining table on our screened-in porch (which features our second charcoal grill and two Adirondack-style swivel/rockers), our indoor dining table seats eight (five chairs and one bench) for casual meals. We also have a restaurant-style high chair available for your use, if needed.
The family room is cozy and inviting with a new couch (which folds out to a full-sized bed) and new, comfy, upholstered swivel-rocker chairs, all of which are working hard to divide their time between the entertainment center (stocked with a 43-inch smart TV, DVD player, tons of movies and board games) and the real star of the show, a floor-to-vaulted-ceiling stone, gas fireplace.
The two guest bedrooms are also located downstairs. One features a pillow-top queen bed and the other – in true Lake Rabun fashion – bunk beds (with a trundle as well)! Both bedrooms have ceiling fans, plenty of closet space and storage, and the comfy beds are nicely appointed with crisp linens and quilts. These bedrooms share the immaculate main-floor bathroom, which features a roomy vanity/sink, large linen closet (stocked with bath towels and beach towels) and a shower/tub.
If a quick load of laundry is on your agenda, a washer/dryer combo is conveniently located on the main floor next to the bathroom.
The master suite, with a king-sized bed and attached bath, is located on the second floor, offering quiet seclusion from the rest of the home. If you’re tempted to watch television, the cleanly appointed master bedroom features one of the two TVs in Little Lakemont. Just outside the master is a sunny reading loft, where an overstuffed leather chair and ottoman invite you to settle in and enjoy a good book (borrow one of ours or bring your own) - or take a nap! - with views of Lake Rabun and the boathouse just below. Also on the top floor is a small, gabled bedroom with a single bed, perfect for a child (or an adult who would prefer the privacy of his/her own room versus the pull-out sofa in the living room). There’s plenty of space in this bedroom for a pack-and-play (not provided) for the littlest ones.
There will be no need to leave Little Lakemont once you arrive, but so many places to explore are at your fingertips, should you feel compelled to wander. Enjoy Angel Falls (you can walk from our driveway to the trail head), Minnehaha Falls (a short drive to the trail head, just across the lake from Little Lakemont), Tallulah Gorge and Black Rock Mountain State Parks, all offering hiking trails and pristine views. Hall’s Marina, Lake Rabun Inn and Restaurant and Max's Lakeside are a short drive (or boat ride) away; Rabun Beach Grocery is nearly next door (for restocking refreshments, gas for your boat or an ice cream treat or two for the kids...); historic Lakemont beckons with its quaint shopping area, art gallery and café; and plenty of creature comforts (Wal-Mart, Ingle's Grocery Store, Home Depot, fast food ) are available in the nearest city – Clayton, Georgia – and Downtown Clayton is booming with boutiques and amazing restaurants.
We consider Little Lakemont our favorite place on Earth, and we respectfully offer its charm and hospitality to you as you plan your next mountain retreat. Please also visit the listing for our sister property, Green Acres (VRBO #4364136), located right next door to Little Lakemont.

We had a great week at Little Lakemont! Perfect place for a relaxing family vacation. Close to both Clayton and Helen, but plenty to do around Lake Rabun, too!
I’m so glad yall had a nice time, and again, thank you for the bottle of wine! Also, thanks for the note about the deck. It’s being resurfaced as soon at the end of summer. Have a great rest of your summer.
Great location, the lake was beautiful. Fenced in yard was a huge plus as well. Host was kind and attentive even on thanksgiving day! We plan to come back in the summertime and stay here again!
This was our fourth year to stay at this property and we enjoyed it immensely as always. The fact that we return year after year is the best testament to how great this place is for our family. Quiet, comfortable, and beautiful.

Thank you, Todd! I love how your family continues to make memories at Little Lakemont.
We had a great time! Our favorite things were the dock, a great board game selection, and the canoe/kayak. The house was well stocked with everything we needed to cook. The beds were very comfortable. We hope to be back!
The lake house was welcoming as aways. All the charm and amenities we have come to expect. Billy is so easy to work with and a wonderful host. So much to see and do in the area if you can get yourself off the property and the lake .

We're so glad y'all had a great time and great weather! From yard games to canoes, we've tried to cover everything a family would want on and off the water. Laura and I look forward to hosting your family again.
The property was exactly as advertised. The back porch was a wonderful setting to just relax and have a cup of coffee or a glass or wine. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our meals. We really enjoyed the boat dock and the kayaks. The lake is really beautiful and peaceful in the no wake zone.

Thanks, Jared. Glad y'all enjoyed your stay and the bak porch, my favorite place to have a quiet cup of coffee in the morning.
This is the second time staying at the property and enjoy the quietness and short trip from home. The house is perfect for our family allowing everyone to have something they can do separately or together.
This was our second visit to Little Lakemont, and somehow it was even better than the first! The house was fully stocked — from a well-equipped kitchen to games that kept my children and me entertained for hours. The view is absolutely breathtaking, and the dock is pure perfection for swimming, kayaking, or just enjoying a peaceful morning coffee by the water. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, making our stay effortless and relaxing. We’re already dreaming about our next visit — Little Lakemont truly feels like our happy place!
My family and I spent 5 nights and really enjoyed our time at Little Lakemont! The house and dock make the time there relaxing and fun. The flat/ fenced yard is super convenient for kids. We plan to stay again next year!
We really enjoyed time with family at this house. It had everything we needed and then some. Billy is a very nice guy and we will be staying at this house again.
We’ve rented Little Lakemont several times. Always a great experience

About the host
Hosted by Billy Schroder
We are The Schroders! Billy's family has been enjoying Lake Rabun since the 1940s, and we are blessed to now have our own little piece of paradise to share with our daughter, Haly. And you!
Why they chose this property
It's not often you find a house on Lake Rabun on a flat lot, as many are perched on the side of a mountain. Couple this unique attribute with the house having direct access from Lake Rabun Road and being in a quiet section of the lake where we feel comfortable with our little girl learning to swim, and buying this house (what we call Little Lakemont) was the easiest and best decision we ever made.
What makes this property unique
The backyard is fenced in and flat, something rare on a mountain lake. This has proved a HUGE convenience while our daughter plays outside.
