About the host
Hosted by Anna Weir
My husband (Pete) and I (Anna) live in Lake Okareka, Rotorua. We have two adult children (aged 21 & 23 years). I am from Gisborne and my husband is from Clyde (Central Otago). Together we own a tourism business in Rotorua.
Why they chose this property
Lake Okareka is a dream location being located only 12 mins to town yet having some of the best mountain biking in the world on our doorstep, not to mention hiking, walking, hunting, fishing, boating, swimming and everything else Rotorua has to offer. We invite you to come experience our tiny slice of heaven.
Lake Okareka is a small lakeside village within the Rotorua district. There are approximately 130 houses made up of both primary residences and holiday home (60/40 split). Lake Okareka has a great sense of community and is a peaceful environment to spend a relaxing or active holiday.

What makes this property unique
The lake has an open fishing season and is great for all water based activities. You will also find three great walking trails at Lake Okareka and many others in the vicinity.
The Tawa Carpark, an entry point to the world renowned Redwoods, is a couple of minutes drive (or a 2.5km ride) up the road. The forest is well known for its superb mountain biking including the newest 'Great Ride - the Forest Loop Trail', walking tracks and its stand of mature Californian Redwood trees.
Perched on the edge of the lake this property has private lake access (about 30m from gate to beach) and lake views from every room. Guests will also enjoy the use of two tandem kayaks and access to the local tennis courts.
