Charming house.perfect for our needs. Only cooked breakfast there. Very convenient to public transportation and neighborhood coffee and dining. Very quiet with minor street traffic.
A fantastic apartment for a family trip. The neighborhood was safe and interesting-within walking distance to some fun sites. The accommodations were wonderful and made our trip very enjoyable.
Great spot for a weekend getaway. Clean, well decorated and inviting. Close to the T, easy in and out. Thank you!

Thank You for Staying with us Jodi and for being such a great guest! Looking forward to your next visit in the very near Future, Terry Fort Hill Inn, Boston
The property has a lovely appointment. Very comfortable and convenient for our weekend plans. I know the neighborhood very well, since I lived there most of my life... it was good to be close to "home". Lots of changes, but very easy access to lots of places in Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, Dorchester, and Downtown Boston!
A wonderful alternative to a cramped hotel room for a fraction of the price. Ideal for fit younger people. Stairs could be an issue for some. Also, it’s a hilly neighborhood and though the T is close, the walk back could be tough. Kitchen nicely equipped; there's a coffee maker—bring your supplies! Nice beds and bedding. Good place to stay!

Disliked: Location

Location was not great in terms of sense of safety. Basement is dark. Needs upgrade in lighting.
The place is decorated beautifully.
Kitchen is stocked including nice appliances.
Beds are super comfortable.
Secure, safe and clean building.
Quick response from the homeowners.
Bathroom and bedrooms are downstairs, you have to be very careful using the staircase. There is a steep hill to climb to get back from the station.
I got my work out for sure, but felt safe walking in the neighborhood.
Definitely would recommend this property.
Fort Hill Inn is an amazing property! It was perfect for our Boston stay. It really is super close to the orange line train, but beware; there is a massive hill to climb up at the end of the day! We had no issues with it, but it is a beast. We felt extremely safe in the area and any neighbors that were out were friendly when we said hello. The host was very communicative and kind enough to let allow us to check in early. We cooked breakfast every morning and had everything we needed to do so. The water was hot and there were a decent number of towels for every body in our group. The beds were comfortable and everyone slept like the dead. We would 100% stay here again. Such a well kept and clean place. You will not be disappointed!

Greatly disappointed.
Not made aware of circular stairs for descent to two basement bedrooms & bath. Dangerous. Bathroom extremely small. Mattresses most uncomfortable. Need replacing. Purpose of stay to visit granddaughter @Northeastern. Advised with rental consideration to owner, that we would be bringing healthy, ambulatory 96 yr. old great-grandfather. Feel owner was inconsiderate not to make us aware of potential staircase challenge. To ascend to 1st floor living quarters, we needed to walk him via outside alley way to reenter house and walk down very dangerous stairway to use bathroom. No sink plug nor wash basin in kitchen to wash dishes. Have stayed many times nationwide with VRBO & never been let down. --Howes, Exton, PA

Thank you Barbara for your Review! Very sorry our accommodations did not work for you. We are always thrilled to get reviews good or other as it keeps us on our toes and helps us to continue to improve the guest experience and make positive changes whenever possible. Not sure if you got a chance to THOROUGHLY read the listing before you booked, We go to great effort to explain our offerings in detail and include as many pictures as possible so there are no surprises for guests. So we were floored to read in your review and that you were surprised the listing had steps! In the Title of the listing it states the apartment is a "DUPLEX" which according to the dictionary: a "duplex .....refers to a flat or apartment on two floors connected by an inner staircase"" We also state there are stairs in the description as well as refer to it as a duplex multiple times. We also include a picture of the full typical sturdy, staircase, rebuilt to code in 1995 and in perfect condition and absolutely not dangerous at all. It would have been useful for you to let us know your great grandfather was handicapped and we would have suggested other alternatives. Your review was the first time mobility issues were mentioned. We received 1 messge from you 2 lines with absolutely no mention of this and then you instant booked the property, so we had no opportunity to inquire as to if you had any special needs. For future this property as well as MOST in Boston are historic properties and well over 100 years old most all DO NOT have elevators and have stairs and have similar layouts. For the future if you are traveling with someone who is handicapped please ask the host before booking, as it is not fair to hosts if you do not do your due diligence, show up and write a bad review. We are very sorry the beds were unacceptable for you. They are fairly new and we selected from some of the top rated Serta beds on Consumer Reports. The bathroom is a very typically sized full bath which was remolded to Boston City Code. In Historic Buildings you will not typically find mega sized bathrooms. Very sorry the size of the bathroom was also not to your liking. FYI there is a picture of the bath in the listing. Thank You soo much for letting us know about the stop for the kitchen sink! It must have been lost by the last guest, I have ordered a new and it is on the way! Happy Trails!
We had a great visit for our daughters graduation. Fit the 4 of us comfortably and had everything we needed (with the exception of a regular size oven, but we improvised!)
We had a comfortable stay near the Roxbury Crossing T stop. We were able to make coffee and a simple breakfast each morning before heading out to visit college campuses and tour around Boston using the T.
We loved staying at Terry’s place in Boston. I was moving my son into his college apartment near Berklee College of Music (1 1/2 mi away). My son stayed with me at this wonderful 2 bedroom home in Roxbury until we got his apartment set up. It was quick and easy to hop on the T…just a 5 min walk from Terry’s place.
We had everything we needed. The home was clean and comfortable with nice style. The small kitchen had everything we needed. Terry was wonderful and responded quickly to any request I had. He went above and beyond….He even brought me milk over at 11 pm! I have stayed at many vacation rentals and this place is top notch. Thanks Terry!!
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful and convenient location. We were just a block or so from the subway station. This made for easy access to Boston attractions. The house is roomy and our family of 5 had ample space to spread out. The owner was very helpful and quick to respond when we had any questions.
Pros & Cons - but proximity to subway was excellent.
I find reviews very helpful. I will try to be brief and fair.
Pros - Terry greeted us upon arrival. Very cordial with helpful advice and responsive to communications. 7 minute walk to subway was SO SO great! Access to Laundry facilities was much appreciated. Having a kitchen saved us $$. Grocery store w/i a short walk. Wifi for free.
Cons - This place is on a fairly busy street. The back bedroom is relatively quiet. The front bedroom hears plenty of traffic. I thought it would be quieter because it looked like the unit is on a dead end. It is, but it's the front unit and it faces the main street. Mattresses seem old. They could get a quick fix with memory foam mattress toppers. I never bathed in a shower that had half a glass divider. I wasn't sure how it would be. Turns out I was cold. Not having a full door, wall or shower curtain means most of the warmth of the shower escapes. The shower head could have been higher. We had to bend down to get our heads under the water. Owner is up front about No refunds (at all). Buying trip insurance, from an outside company, put an additional cost onto our trip.

Thank You for staying with us Kim and leaving us a review! It was so nice to meet you on arrival and host you on your first VRBO trip. Glad you enjoyed the location , kitchen and access to local amenities. Very sorry to hear about the street noise. Fort Hill where we are located is a quiet residential neighborhood compared to many locations in Boston, however it is a city, so some noise is always possible when you come to an urban area. We have made some changes and installed a sleep machine to help. Glass panels are common in modern upgrades, so sorry it did not work for you. We do have central heat, so feel free to turn that up if you are chilly. We changed the shower head for tall future guests! Unfortunately due to the popularity of Boston and our listings we sell out months in advance and like to save our listings for guests who will for sure be able to join us, so we have a no refund policy as we have had experiences that guests have reserved and held popular dates from other guests and then cancelled last minute. So unfortunately we had to adjust our cancellation policy as there is a very limited number of VRBO's in Boston and lots of travelers looking to Visit! Travel insurance offered through VRBO is a great option if you are not sure you will be able to stay and for piece of mind.
Our family of 6 enjoyed our stay here. Proximity to T stop was very convenient, orange line takes you straight in to heart of Boston. Found a few good restaurants within a mile or so. The owner was very accommodating and responsive.
Terry was great to deal with and responded to any questions we had. Apartment was clean and was accurately depicted in the pictures. Apartment is conveniently located 5 minutes from Roxbury Crossing T line station which we used as the primary source of transit during our stay. Overall it was a great experience and would stay there again.

Cozy with plenty of room
My husband and I really enjoyed our stay in Boston. The duplex had everything we needed. We loved the easy access to the train. Be aware there is a pretty good hike up a hill from the station to the duplex, but we appreciated the good cardio workout. Lyft service was also great. Never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a pick-up.
