Waterfront Chalet with Hot Tub & Fireplace

Waterfront days, mountain adventures, and cozy evenings by the fire—Mountain Lake Retreat puts you close to some of Western Maine's best four-season experiences, with Round Pond right outside and Sunday River just 16 minutes away.

In summer, make the most of the waterfront setting. Step down to the dock for a morning paddle, spend an afternoon exploring the water by kayak or paddleboard, or simply enjoy the outdoors with family and friends. The lawn and picnic area create a natural gathering spot, while the hot tub offers a relaxing way to end the day. Come fall, the pond and surrounding mountains become a backdrop for brilliant foliage and crisp-weather adventures. Spend the day hiking nearby trails, exploring the Bethel area, or enjoying the changing colors before returning to the chalet for dinner and an evening around the fireplace.

In winter, the focus shifts to the mountains. Mt Abram is 3 minutes away and Sunday River Resort just 16 minutes, making Mountain Lake Retreat a convenient home base for a ski or snowboard vacation.

Inside, the beautiful chalet blends modern style with classic Maine character. The light-filled living room features a stone fireplace and large windows, while the well-equipped kitchen makes everything from quick breakfasts to group dinners easy. With four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and space for up to 10 guests, there's plenty of room for families, friends, and multi-generational groups to spread out.

Downtown Bethel is less than 10 minutes away, with restaurants, shops, groceries, and local activities close at hand.

Such a beautiful home where so many wonderful memories were made! We enjoyed every minute of our vacation.Everything we could have asked for was there. A beautiful kitchen to make delicious meals, comfortable beds for resting after fun days on the water, board games that brought about lots of laughs, paddle boards and kayaks to explore with, the best air conditioning we have ever experienced, and a beautiful fire pit for s’mores. And don’t forget the stargazing! We had an amazing time and we can’t wait to go back! Thank you for sharing your home with us!

House was great for our family trip. It was close to Sunday River which we skied every day we were there. The master bedroom had a huge walk in closet with a window where we could set up my two year old's pack and play without waking her up. Would love to stay again.

Great rental as it has everything you would ever need. A few comments: There is a regular coffee maker with filters, no K-cup machine, as Previous people have said. Second thing the street is very busy with a lot of loud trucks, but it did not bother us. The street light across the street disturbed our star and satellite watch somewhat. The small pier where the ladder and paddle boat are was very shaky and did not feel very safe, making it hard to get in and out of the water.Other than those few thing stay was great.

An Excellent Ski House

We really had a great week in the house. Large enough for 10 to spread out and all the amenities we could want for a stay. this is the first house we've rented that had enough pans, tools and sharp knifes to cook whatever we wanted. The views of the pond and Mt. Abrams are wonderful. especially from the hot tubOur only negative was the house is on the main road and can be a little loud in the early mornings, the locals begin the workday at 6.We would most definitely return for another family vacation.Brian M.

We had a wonderful stay at this Greenwood, Maine home and would highly recommend it. The house was incredibly clean and comfortable from the moment we walked in. Everything was thoughtfully labeled, which made settling in so easy — no guessing where anything belonged. The hot tub was spotless and perfectly hot, just what you want after a long day on the slopes. Speaking of snow, we were lucky enough to get about six inches one night, and by morning the driveway was plowed and the snow was cleared off the deck. That kind of attention really stood out.The house is located on the main road, so the traffic and occasional train were a bit loud at times. That said, every bedroom had a sound machine, which made a huge difference and ensured a good night’s sleep. We skied at Mt. Abram, which was less than a five-minute drive — you truly couldn’t ask for a better location for skiing. All in all, a fantastic stay. Clean, comfortable, well-maintained, and thoughtfully managed. We’d absolutely come back again!

Family summer vacation

We had a wonderful stay, the house is beautiful and has everything you need, including beach towels, life jackets, s’more sticks, fire starting supplies and wood. We loved being right on the water and having access to the paddle boards, kayaks and canoe. We spent 3 hot days enjoying the water and hanging out with the loon. Unfortunately the house is on a busy and loud road, which took away from the quietness. Also the train is quite close and loud, but pretty infrequent, just a surprise that 1st time it passed. There was a lot of geese pop on the lawn, but we weren’t to bothered by that, however some folks could be. We did have a wonderful time and it it a lovely home with everything you need, which was wonderful.
The loon came by everyday!

Had issues with hot tub temperature the first night but we’re fixed the next day. Front steps and driveway were all ice and snowy and did not have ice melt till the next day. A bag was left for us to spread ourselves but thought property management would have done that while we were not there during the day since it was still all ice when we got home causing issues entering home in addition to creating a mess tracking in the snow.
