We were there for a wedding at granite ridge estate and barn. It is a great location near the venue. The house was perfect and the lake was beautiful. We had everything we needed at the house. Gabe responded quickly to all my questions and provided detailed information about the house and how to get there. Thank you Gabe!
My family and I had the best time at this adorable vintage lake house for a week during Labor Day. Helpful info from Gabe and self check-in with keypad. A well lived-in space had everything we needed, including board games, a desk to work-from-home, and a fully stocked galley kitchen. Spent our time on the large waterside deck and in the water (water access is via wooden stairs with handrail). So much room inside too: living room, dining room, enclosed porch, screen porch with a table seating 8. Beds were comfortable (3 bedrooms upstairs, 1 down) and shower pressure was pleasant (1 bath upstairs with full tub; 1 bath down with walk-in shower). Plenty of parking for 4 cars and a trailer, which we used to bring our own canoe, although the dirt road to the house was a bit bumpy and muddy after the rain, we were able to maneuver it! The only caution I'd give is that the stone stairs to get from the parking area down to the house can be hard for people with mobility issues and are slippery when wet, thankfully the sturdy rope handrails help a lot. Highly recommend this lake house!
The real strengths of this house for us were the AC (heat pumps) in almost every room (since it was hot when we were there!), cleanliness of the inside spaces, the available boats (4 kayaks and 2 collapsible paddle boards), laundry facilities, seating area over the water, and beautiful clear, clean lake for swimming. Gabe was a VERY attentive and responsive host, quickly solving a problem that came up early in our stay, and answering questions about the area. I also appreciated that linens were provided, and they use unscented laundry detergent. If it were possible to give 4.5 stars, I probably would have done so, due to the fact that many windows didn't open properly (they were old, and need to be renovated), and the first floor room didn't have screens on its windows so they couldn't be opened either practically speaking. The decor and furnishings weren't really in keeping with the nature of the house, and outside areas could have used a deep cleaning (though I know that's difficult with all the beautiful trees, plants and flowers!).All in all, a very nice week with friends and family.
The check in process was seamless and the property was just as described. This is a fantastic camp to bring the whole family for a get away from it all vacation. The bedrooms are large and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well equiped. The dock provides excellent views of both beautiful sunrises and sun sets. Check out was just as seamless.
Could use lights in downstairs bedroom along with curtains on the windows. A lobster pot would have be great, but we were able to go into town and buy one. Other then those things it was a great stay.
We had an excellent stay at this breathtaking lakefront house. Everything was comfortable and clean, check-in/out was very easy and the hosts were very communicative. This is really a beautiful spot directly on a peaceful lake—the perfect setting for a long weekend getaway.
The LakeHouse was quaint with plenty of room for our group of 7. Beds were very comfortable, location was beautiful & relaxing, and the playroom area was a much utilized spot for the kids!
The house has a lot of character and the location is great. It is private and yet close to town. The lake is gorgeous, clean, relatively quiet and very relaxing. The dock is beautiful with steps to easily get into the water and great for fishing. We rented a pontoon boat so to dock it right outside was so convenient.
The house itself was nice. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was a little tight on space but certainly workable and well stocked. The only downside were the bathrooms. The first floor bathroom is small. We had to sit sideways on the toilet so our knees didn’t hit the wall and shower was very small. Upstairs bathroom the shower head is too low. I’m the shortest of our group at 5’5 and had to squat down to get underneath. The others were challenged more. The bathrooms really need adjusting.
Overall it’s a beautiful home, great location, and the owners were very responsive for anything we needed.

About the host

Hey it's Gabe! I run our family's wedding venue (Granite Ridge Estate and Barn) 10 minutes from our lake house. I also own a Hot Sauce Company (The Spicy Shark) that keeps us traveling during the summer months. My wife and are big supporters of Norway, Maine and are proud to call it home.
Why they chose this property
This particular lake house is a gem on Norway, Lake. It has old school traditional Maine Camp charm and has been redecorated and completely updated with all the modern amenities. With views second to none, this property has a grandfathered boat house and deck that you can't find anywhere else on the lake. This is a special property that we have put our heart and soul into and are excited to share it with special guests. The town of Norway has everything you would need and also allows you to feel like you can get away from it all.
