House was clean, host’s communication was clear and respectful. Property was tidy and as expected. No special requests, although I felt the host would try to accommodate. A bbq would have made it even better.
Had a great stay! Would absolutely recommend this house for a vacation stay with a group of friends. And Yvonne was so responsive and a pleasure to deal with. Thanks!
The house was large, clean and well equipped kitchen.
Plenty of space to sit out side by the fire and relax after our bike ride from Ottawa. We enjoyed the ample fire wood
Yvonne was great to deal with and very timely in her responses.
It was clean and in a nice area. There was plenty of room for all of us and we would reco to others traveling this area. Loved the fluorescent bears that lite up at night,The bedrooms did get a bit hot at night,…. Would have appreciated more than 2 bath towels as the ones that showered after the first two had to use hand towels. Thanks

Thank you for your kind review! We’re glad you enjoyed the space, location, and the glowing bears!
Just to clarify, the listing notes that bath towels aren’t provided, but we’re always happy to try to accommodate special requests if we’re contacted. Each bedroom has a fan, and we encourage guests to reach out during their stay if anything is needed — we’re here to help!
Thanks again for staying with us and for the recommendation!

Wedding stay
this property was beautiful and in a great location, but it was rented bc of my grand daughter's wedding was being held in Kingston. As normal we had contracted professionals come in for make up and hair etc. You can imagine the stress I was caused when.... during the middle of the reception dinner at Fort Henry I get a call demading $300 more on top of the already exorbitant costs and bc of the people coming and going. The house rules were ridiculous, for example....
.don't touch the AC, no visitors to name a few. We would not recommend this property to anyone. My daughter is a travel agent with CAA and you can be guaranteed she wont recommend either.

Karen was our first VRBO customer (after over 2 years of very happy Airbnb guests - check us out on Airbnb!), so we offered a heavy discount on her booking. She booked a three day stay with us for 6 people. Ultimately, she had 14 people stay the first night; furthermore, they were driving and parking vehicles all over the lawn. We attempted to contact Karen through the channels available to us, but our outreaches and messages were ignored. Our primary reason for reaching out was because River Ridge Cottage is licensed through the City of Kingston for up to 8 overnight guests --which she far exceeded. Our failed attempts to reach Karen resulted in us contacting VRBO. VRBO attempted to contact Karen on our behalf, which (according to VRBO) was ignored as well. We were directed by VRBO to charge Karen for all the additional guests. VRBO's position was that if they didn’t pay, then they would cancel the reservation and ask them to leave the property. We did not charge for all 14 guests, and the following nights there was only 9 and we did not charge her extra. It is unfortunate that she felt the need to leave this review, given the circumstance...
The property was clean, host extremely responsive.Great space for six adults and a toddler. There is no bbq if you were hoping to grill food. Also said sleeps 8, cutlery wise, only 6 forks.Aside from those two things, a great spot to stay.
