Great Rental Property
We had a great stay at this property. Large enough for a few families to vacation together. Lots of indoor and outdoor space. Very convenient location. Beds were very comfortable and the house was extremely clean. Lots of great amenities. We would definitely consider renting this property again, and highly recommend it to others. The property owner was extremely helpful and accessible.

Great Multi-Family Getaway!
We came in from California to meet up with our friends from back home, just to have a "Grown Ups" Movie style vacation. And we did. Jill was great to work with, the house was clean and perfect for what we needed. Close to the boat launch, close to town and easy to find. Thank you for the hospitality and we definitely left with great memories.

Thanks, Aaron. We are glad that you enjoyed your time at the house!
We had a wonderful stay in this Adirondack home. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and there was plenty of space to accommodate our family's needs. We were pleasantly surprised to find the essentials, plus a few thoughtful extras. Having foil and cling wrap in the kitchen was especially convenient. The soft toilet paper was a nice touch and much appreciated. We can’t wait to return!

Thank you for the great review. We are happy that you enjoyed your stay!
What a great place! The house was huge! It comfortably fit our party of 20. There were plenty of places for us to all hang out together or separately. The communication with the owner was great and all the check in went so smooth. The location was awesome too, with beautiful view of the lake and great fishing! So awesome!
With the four bedrooms this fit our four individual families perfectly. The owners were very responsive to our needs. The beach was perfect for the little ones. We housed our canoe in the boat house and that was great for us. The outdoor fire pit was good and we brought extra beach chairs to fit our whole party. Great week!
The good:
- beds were cozy.
- plenty of space to spread out.
- nice fireplace and firepit.
- kitchen was well stocked with cookware and utensils.
- very fun fishing on Tupper Lake! (I caught a northern in September)
The less than good:
- mice came around everynight and left droppings all over the kitchen and on our produce and vitamins, sunblock, etc.
- the dust and mustiness of some areas of the house definitely triggered our allergies.
- Due to the times, I ran disinfectant wipes on surfaces upon arrival and found that common surfaces were not completely clean.
- we had a rental pontoon in the boat house and the boat house doorframe was tricky to manuever in and out of especially with wind/waves. lots of caked on pigeon poop in the boathouse.

Hello Emily—Thank you for your review. A high standard of care and cleanliness has always been a priority for us. Generally, I spend two or so hours after our housekeeper leaves to make sure everything is up to our standards. I get it—why you took that step to make sure things were clean, as I am the one who wipes down surfaces when we are away from home (even before COVID). If I am not available—as I wasn’t for your stay—other family members (mostly husband) have that duty. Concerning the mice (and chipmunks)—this is our first year having to address this problem. What we have learned—from our person at the hardware store and others—is that this is a problem that many are dealing with because last year the food supply was plentiful so these little critters could spent their time mating. We have been proactively dealing with this, even setting traps in the garage to correct this as best we can. The pigeons are another story—plenty to deal with in the Adirondacks.
We often try to check in with our guests in various ways after they arrive--such as we did with you while delivering firewood--now, though, it has become apparent that we need to be sure our guests know to contact us for any issues that may arise.
The sunsets were amazing, beautiful view. Living room space was big and nice comfy couches! The lawn and landscape was not well kept, the beach was smaller than pictured. We let them know weeks ahead we’d need the boat house…it was not available our first day and then the boat was pulled up to the beach which took away from the smaller beach to begin with! The beach upon arrival had a bag of garbage on what looked to be where someone previous had been having fires, broken glass and a lot of it the first few days til we picked it up. These were all fairly minor issues as we were able to be around the fire, play music, as we are a louder family!! We enjoyed our trip! We enjoyed our stay and the house fit all of us comfortably! Nice place for a large family and friends to rent and enjoy!
The Tupper Lake property was a nice place in a great location. It was perfect for a fall getaway. It fit three couples very comfortably. It is rustic but comfortable and it is accessible to hiking and boating and all the outdoor activities the Adirondacks have to offer. We enjoyed our stay there very much.
We absolutely adored this house and our two week stay on Tupper Lake. The view is spectacular and the house is super comfortable. Mike could not have been more helpful. Having the owner close by gave us a really good sense of security. The swimming was great and there's a lot to explore in the area both culturally as well as of course in the Great Outdoors.
Great house for our large family gathering ,enough room for all. WE enjoyed the fire pit at night, swimming and boating during the day and great family meals. Great view of the lake, the sunsets were beautiful. This was our second time staying at this house and hopefully we will return.
Beautiful and spacious house on Tupper Lake. Used the boathouse for our 17 foot boat. Walk to waterfront is down a slope and 2 sets of stairs. Beach is sandy and nice for swimming. Floating dock was described in the listing but was not there which was a disappointment. Indoor fireplace is beautiful. Lovely large lawn with lots of some wooden chairs to use.
We had a wonderful weekend in this cozy lake house. Check-in, kitchen accommodations and property were great! The owner checked in on us and the neighbors were friendly. Thank you!
We really enjoyed it,. There were 10 of us (4 kids 8 and under). The house was very comfortable - spacious; comfortable bedding; very clean; nice kitchen (we cooked a lot); good space for everybody to get together (living room; large dining table). We especially liked the picnic area - fire pit, large table for everybody, comfortable chairs. Kids had a lot of fun (friendly chipmunks was the highlight + fire pit). Lake and the beach are very nice (we slimmed; we also had kayaks). Everything is very kid-friendly, from floaties for the beach to a huge set of board games. Hikes in the area are excellent (2 that we enjoyed the most are Raquette Falls Trail and Black&Bridge Brook Ponds). Thank you !
The house is in a wonderful location right across the street from your own private beach. The kids lived it! We were able to rent a boat for the whole week from the The Red Top Inn and had a blast going on the beautiful lake. Large home with plenty of space for kids (6) to have their own beds. Able to go to the local park and play and hike local trail up Coney Mountain. Loved everything about it.

Mike left this position that he enjoyed immensely to assist his wife Dr. Lauren Gillis develop The Justice Center—a not-for-profit. The impetus for The Justice Center was Dr. Lauren’s work with persons struggling with serious mentally illness and substance abuse in community mental health centers, psychiatric hospitals and prisons. It was Dr. Lauren’s prison work that involved implementing different programs—such as the Behavioral Health Unit-- that eventually led her to earn a degree in clinical psychology at Antioch NE. Since Dr. Gillis completed her program in 2017, both Mike and Dr. Lauren devote their time and energies in creating alternatives to fund the vision and mission of The Justice Center, (see below about what is Unique to this property) such as The Way to Stay. Mike and Lauren began The Way to Stay in 2016, identifying special properties such as The Adirondack Lodge at the Lake where you are literally in a old-timey cabin (built in 1930s) so that our guests have a very special time with family and friends. We are as devoted to our guests as we are to those we are working for. Please feel free to contact Mike or Lauren if you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions. We love to hear from our guests!
Why they chose this property
