Beautiful quaint cottage with a picturesque garden! Very comfortable and quiet! Set in a lovely village near the coast!Would highly recommend Townsend cottage!Looking forward to returning!!Mrs D Davidson
We loved our stay in Northbourne. The house and garden were perfect. Everyone in town was very welcoming. Even invited us to their coronation party. We will definitely be back.
We stayed nine days in Northbourne and we had a wonderful time. The house is cosy, the garden amazing and the vincinty very beautiful. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and most of the time we just enjoyed the lovely garden. It was a bit surprising that there is no shower. Deal can be reached in 10 minutes by car. The sandy beaches in Margate or Broadstairs are good for swimming with children. We are looking forward to coming again next year. Thanks for everything.
Our stay in de cottage was very very nice. There is a beautiful garden en the surrounding was stunning.
However, the couch was very bad. You sink very deep into it. It is quite a problem for elderly people.
Because we have a lot of pain in our back, it was a problem.
That was a pity.
But we still enjoyed it
Lovely cottage, clean and comfortable. Well equipped but suggest a first aid box would be beneficial.
One member had an accident in the cottage during our stay and unfortunately damaged a radiator. Communication with the owner was good and the problem was dealt with very swiftly.
Would highly recommend Townsend cottage.
We greatly enjoyed the Townsend Cottage. It was a perfect hub for our family (2 grandparents, parents, and 2 children - 8 & 5yrs old). There were plenty of great walking paths close by, the lovely Hare & Hounds Pub right across the street with a traditional Sunday Roast, a playground and field down the street for the kids and many friendly folks in the village.
We appreciated the proximity to the ocean and many towns (& castles) to explore all within 30 minutes or less drive.
If you’re looking for a place that is quiet and remote but still close enough to get out and see the sights, we’d highly recommend.
The owners were very responsive as well whenever we reached out with questions.
We had a fabulous week at Townsend Cottage. It’s a beautiful cottage with a lovely garden and has everything you’d need for a comfortable stay. The pub opposite was closed when we were there but is reopening soon. The cottage is a short drive from Deal and we found loads of interesting places to visit for day trips.
The cottage was the perfect size for a family of four (or five). The lounge was its best feature - comfortable sofas, a cozy feel and inglenook fireplace. The basics were provided ie. towels, utensils. One of the double beds was not the most comfortable for two people but the other was fine.
A little extra thought to the finer details and those staying would give it a five star rating eg. A welcome note or pack, but most importantly the removal of large limited edition paintings by Rolf Harris; not at all something that would make those who have had unwanted experiences feel comfortable (or those with a moral compass) whilst having dinner or going to bed (where the pictures are situated). Two of the three paintings are screwed to the wals so cannot be temporarily removed if preferred by visitors.
Otherwise, a nice property and lovely garden.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, in a perfect quiet location close to the coast. The cottage is spacious and very comfortable indeed, it has a gorgeous garden and a well equipped kitchen + utility room. All the bedrooms are of a good size and layout, the bedding is heavenly!
With 5-6 people in our group it was great to have both a bath upstairs (delightfully relaxing with birdsong from the garden!) and a shower downstairs (note only one toilet though). And there is plenty of seating in the dining room and lounge.
Nice big TV with Netflix and other apps for evenings in.
It's a shame the pub across the road is closed at present but there are other very good ones a short drive or 30 minute walk away.
Very good communication from the owners and the lovely housekeeper.
Highly recommended!
This was a great property with a beautiful mature garden. We had a minor problem which the owners dealt with immediately. A mirror in the second bedroom would be nice.
Sweet little cottage, unfortunately our beds were damp and therefore had to have the heating in dry.
A real shame for our family holiday as the cottage is sweet but not a place in my view for under 5’s as there were a few unsafe problems in the house and garden. Feather bedding not suitable for vegans/allergy sufferers.

Hi Bernie,
Thank you for your feedback, I know this has been discussed already via HomeAway, but to re-address your points publicly:
When the housekeeper arrived shortly after you reported damp beds they were unable to detect any moisture, regardless, a dehumidifier was provided, fresh sheets made available and the offer to put on the heating - having been one of the hottest and humid weeks of the summer, sometimes the contrast of coolness can give the impression of moisture. In any case, everything was done to resolve the issue promptly.
Over the years, we have had many young children stay and your concerns are the first we have received in this respect. Any environment of course needs responsible parents to guide their children, but the items you raised of the greenhouse in the garden (fully intact - no broken glass), a heavy door to the boiler room and washing line holes in the lawn have not been a concern for any parents over the previous years.
I confirm that the bedding is high quality down and feather, we do not advertise vegan/allergen-free bedding and given preferences and requirements are so subjective in this area, we would have been more than happy to confirm this had you raised it at any point prior to booking or arrival.
When the housekeeper when to provide a complimentary mid stay service, no further issues were raised to them, ourselves or the owner, so we were confused to subsequently receive the points you raised, however, I am glad you liked the cottage overall.
This was a break to end the horrible lock down that we have all experienced in these last few months.. Townsend Cottage is idyllic, every thing that a family needs.. We could not have asked for more..Thank you Tim and Julie...
Excellent, property was everything we'd hoped for, the pub over the road was very helpful and accommodating, local area had loads of things to do. Will be coming again.

A Lovely Gem of a Cottage ........but.....
A time warp of a cottage - looks so tiny from the exterior but once inside the rooms were large and nicely furnished. On a sunny day the garden would be idyllic with birds and squirrels in abundance.
The whole atmosphere was however ruined on a Saturday Night by people leaving the pub (very late). A taxi arrived to collect people, and kept the engine on for at least five minutes. The time was about 12.30 a.m. It does not matter how people try to be quiet there 'Goodbyes' and 'Nice to see you again' sound very loud when a person is trying to sleep.
Also it transpires that the road outside, as far as I am concerned, is a rat-run first thing in the morning. The owners would find perfection if double glazing/secondary glazing/wooden shutters fitted which could be closed at night to keep out the noise.
So we vacated the cottage early to come home to get some sleep!!!!!!!!!
We enjoyed our days visiting Deal, Broadstairs and Sandwich.

Dear Nicole,
Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased you enjoyed the space of the garden and the property was cosy. We would be really interested to know what it was about the carpet you found impractical?
Glad you enjoyed your stay overall!
Kind regards,
Tim.
