This was the perfect home to stay in with our 2 families. It was so nice to have a big grassy yard with a berm that protected the kids from going into the road. We spent most of the time out on the grass and enjoyed being able to walk right into town. The owners were very accommodating and easy-going and responsive. Would love to come back again.
This quaint home was comfortable and full of many amenities! We found it's location perfect for our needs with parks, restaurants, and shops within walking distance. Northport is a such a beautiful community with lots to see and do! The host was very helpful and responsive, we would definitely stay here again!
My family love Northport! Our first time during the 4th. What a fun time. Great home, location and property. Owner is super communicative and very accommodating. Will definitely be back!
Went to Northport for a large family gathering. A bit cool outside but this home was warm and cozy. The hosts were so accommodating with local recommendations for dining and seeing the sights. I can’t wait to visit again. Fingers crossed this place is available next time.

Thanks! We are glad you enjoyed your stay and our house. Please come back again!
The rental home was perfect for our young grandchildren. The upstairs bedroom with three twins worked for the kids. There was plenty of space and lots of outdoor space for playing. The house is convenient to everything. The landlords were very professional and at ease with us! We are already thinking about going back next year!!!

Beautiful place short walk from the Northport Marina
The interior of the house is recently renovated with nice materials. The kitchen appliances are all new and spotless. The furnishings are very comfortable and clean. The wifi is speedy. The house is one block away from the grocery store and restaurant/bars. The neighborhood is very quiet at night. The owners John & Carol couldn't be nicer. It was a wonderful experience.

Thank you for the nice review. We are glad that you enjoyed your stay, it was a pleasure having you as our guest.
My family loves Northport and we tend to stay at hotels when we visit, but this time we decided on a rental home. The house could not have pleased us more, it is in a very nice neighborhood for taking walks and is only a short distance from the center of town. It was very clean (The owners said they use a cleaning crew between rentals and it shows), spacious, and great for lounging around outside. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook a couple of our meals. The bedrooms were tidy and comfortable and the bathrooms were spotless. The house has a lot of personality and we could not have had a better time! The owners were easy to communicate with and very pleasant. We recommend Barb's Bakery if you get up there! Absolutely wonderful vacation, will definitely be doing it again!
The house was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The location was great for walking to town and walking to visit family. There were 7 of us and the bed situation worked out well. One thing to note is that the bedroom with the 3 twin beds has a half bath located upstairs, the master has a full bath (main floor) and the other full bath is also on the main floor so anyone wanting to shower will be doing so on the main floor. The kitchen was well equipped with nice dishes and the outdoor grill had a full tank of gas and was newer. Due to COVID and a shortage of workers, many/most restaurants were only open Wednesday thru Saturday/Sunday so plan on fixing meals in on those off days. The owners were easy to work with and take pride in the home. Beautiful flowers were planted in pots and around the house. I highly recommend this place and would rent it again.

Bright,clean,everything was perfect!
This is the first time I have made use of VRBO, and if other owners are as responsible as John and Carol I will make use of the service again and again. Everything in this house was clean neat and organized. I joked that of all the places I have vacationed at this was the first place my Mom would have given her ok for clean. The little town of Northport is charming, just a short walk from this house. One morning the farmers' market was set up right by the shore; friendly folks and fresh Michigan products and a great view. There were four of us sharing this house which could accommodate several more with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen is all new top to bottom; appliances, cabinets, countertops, floors. This flows into a large dinning room with a table large enough for a full family gathering. The living room is a comfy spot to watch TV or just relax. There is also a sitting room ideal for reading just off the front door. There is parking for several cars, which you will not need in this walkable town. There are four bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms and a half bathroom-all were clean and ready for our stay. I do not have one single negative to site-we had a wonderful stay; as I write this review fond memories of our time up north keep streaming through my head. Thanks to John and Carol for running such a fine business, we hope to be able to rent from you in the future. Loved everything about this place!

Severe health issues after stay
I am sorry to have to write this review. I normally let bad events just go, but because I am so sick I couldn’t just ignore this one. We turned on the heat, which is located in the basement, one cold night and out of the 8 of us staying in the home, 6 of us all had various extreme issues - vertigo, sore throats, coughing, breathing problems, within an hour of the system being turned on. My elderly mother and myself all have gotten the most severe effects and we were both sleeping on the main level. We were also the ones that decided to stay. 5 others in our group left since they had other arrangements. Once we figured out that the hvac system was most likely the cause we turned it off thinking we would be ok and decided to remain in the house. We were in the area for my dad’s funeral and really had nowhere else to go. It was a bad idea to stay. Since leaving this house my mother and I have been severely ill. I have had constant histamine reactions to everything. I have been to the ER and to multiple doctors since and so has my mother. I have not been getting better. All doctors I have talked with have all asked me if I have talked to the owner of the house. I have. My mother lost her hearing for many weeks and continues to have inner ear, vomiting and bowel issues. If you have any kind of allergies, or not, I would highly suggest NOT staying at this property unless major changes have been made since our stay. So sorry this happened but it looks like this will be an “event”, as the doctors are titling it, that will effect the rest of my life. There is no recourse for us and we cannot prove that this house is for sure the cause, but after multiple people got sick on the same night we have suspected the house to be to blame.

We are very sorry that you feel that your ongoing health problems are related to our vacation rental home and wish that you had reached out to us during your stay. When you did contact us 3 weeks later, the HVAC system was checked out and no problem found. We have had hundreds of guests, including family and friends stay at this house and no one has reported problems with the heating system or air quality. We also checked back with the family who rented the past 2 winters and they report no problems. We pride ourselves in running a first class rental with meticulous cleanliness and don’t want anyone to ever become ill while staying at our place. Our numerous good reviews back that.
We traveled for 3 nights in Northport. This is wonderful property with in a great location. Family of 4 with a small dog.
***tall people warning: I’m 6’5 and if I didn’t slightly duck going into the family room and bedroom I would hit my head.
The house was amazing and everything was within walking distance. The deck has multiple levels that were difficult to maneuver in the dark, but not in the daylight! Some additional lighting could easily remedy that.
The home is well taken care of, one of the cleanest properties I have ever been. North port is a quiet alternative to the hustle of the surrounding towns. We will book again
One of the cleanest rentals we have stayed in, and that is so important to me and my family. The location is great - walkable to everything in downtown Northport. House is maintained very well and has very nice furnishings. Host was very accessible and responsive when we needed him. Would stay here again!
We enjoyed our stay, it was walking distance from the marina, shopping & bakery & much more. Everyone in town was very friendly. The house we rented was spotless, very comfortable & had all the comforts of home!
We had a fantastic stay at this property! The house was spacious, clean, and wonderfully appointed, and includes a nice deck for outdoor living space. The location is a block from downtown, and we were able to walk to anywhere in Northport. We’re looking forward to being able to stay at this property again in the future.
The cleanest property I have ever rented! It was very comfortable, too.
No surprises here. Plenty of room for food storage. Plenty of closet and dresser storage. A nice patio for dining with friends with lots of flowers. A very short walk to Barb’s bakery and the rest of town.
This is a great house for vacation. It was comfortable, very clean and walking distance to so many things! I highly recommend.

About the host
Hosted by John Lesperance
Our names are John and Carol Lesperance. We are both retired and work occasionally at odd jobs. John also maintains his real estate license and does some property management. We live nearby and love the outdoors! We enjoy hiking, biking, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and swimming. We moved to Leelanau county from San Diego in 1994 but are both born and raise Michiganders.
Why they chose this property
We love the village of Northport! It is charming, warm and inviting and is not over run with tourists like some of the other towns in Leelanau county. It is a beautiful village to just stroll around and look at the beautiful gardens and nice neighborhoods. It is not simply a resort town as it has a fair share of local residents as well. It is picturesque and looks as if it is in New England versus northern Michigan.
What makes this property unique
Because of the location, everything is walkable, including the grocery store which is 3 blocks away. Suttons Bay is just 12 miles south, Leland (Fishtown) 12 miles southeast and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is 30 minutes away. Traverse City is 30 miles south. There are many vineyards in Leelanau county and wine tasting trips are a great way to spend an afternoon.
