About this property
Somewhere... for Birding and Boating
“Somewhere…” is a beautiful haven on the scenic Rainbow River in Dunnellon, Florida. The home commands a hilltop with a long view to the river below. Just blocks from downtown Dunnellon, Somewhere… feels like miles from everywhere. It is tastefully decorated with three spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, top of the line appliances, a big open plan living and dining room with a gas fireplace, a separate TV room/den, laundry room with Samsung large capacity washer and dryer and two-car garage. Each bedroom overlooks the river and the wall of french doors in the living room opens onto the perfect view. A large deck that wraps the river side of the house and provides fresh breezes from the spring fed river to the accompaniment of dozens of varieties of birds. There is even a dock on the water.
The deep water dock is a great place to tie up your boat. A city ramp nearby makes it easy to load and unload your trailer. To the north, the Rainbow River is cold, clear and teeming with wildlife (there is a bridge to go under). To the south, the Withlacoochee is home to some of the best fresh water fishing in Florida.
We've seen dozens of varieties of birds in our own backyard and the nearby Ocala forest and other wilderness areas have some of the best birdwatching in the state. We've logged birds of prey like hawks, osprey and owls; waterfowl like great blue and great white herons, coots, anhingas and cormorants; songbirds like chickadees, tufted titmouse and mockingbirds; woodpeckers large and small including the stunning pileated variety. Bluebirds nest every year in their very own birdhouse.
The master bedroom with en suite bath is furnished with a king bed. One guest room holds a queen and the other is decorated with twins. There is a queen sofa bed, bringing the sleeping capacity comfortably to eight.
The kitchen is well-appointed with GE Profile and Kitchenaid appliances including a gas range. There is also a gas grill on the deck. Careful attention to detail means you’ll find everything you need to prepare meals here.
The living room/dining room overlooks the large back deck. It is open and airy with french doors and a vaulted ceiling. The sleeper sofa is in the living room. The warmly furnished den holds a new 55-inch smart TV and Blu-ray player. Internet and TV are provided.
A newly prepared quilting, sewing and crafting room with tables, swivel chairs, 2 ironing stations, cutting stations and space for your design walls seats 8 comfortably. It is air conditioned, bright and clean. Sewing machines are available to rent, classes can be arranged and additional services and information can be reviewed at somewhereforquilting.com.
The Rainbow River is fed by the fourth-largest spring in Florida and pours up to 600 million gallons of crystal clear, ice cold water into the Withlacoochee River daily just downstream from Somewhere…. The Rainbow flows at a constant 74° year-round. It may be a little warmer by the time it gets to Somewhere… about 5 miles downstream from the spring, but it is always bracingly refreshing. Tubing is the most popular activity on the river and the fishing on both the Rainbow and Withlacoochee Rivers is excellent. Rainbow Springs State Park, at the river’s head spring, is just a few miles away and easily accessible from Highway 41, the main road through town. On the river you’re likely to see otters, turtles, deer, osprey, eagles and the occasional alligator. Local tour operators and rental companies can provide everything your party needs to spend a wonderful day on the water.
Dunnellon is about 30 minutes from Ocala and Crystal River, and less than 2 hours from Orlando, Tampa and St. Petersburg.
The minimum stay at Somewhere… is seven nights except for quilting, sewing or crafting retreats for whom shorter stays can be arranged. Pets can be accommodated; contact the owner to discuss.

I cannot say "wonderful", "lovely", "perfect" enough times to due this home justice. My family gets together one week a year so we look for a special place. We found it! Location, cleanliness, communication, amenities, kitchen and cooking equipment all on point. The beds and linens are top tier. Thank you for a memorable time. We will be back.
We were a group of five consisting of ages from 12 to 70 and two large dogs. The property is situated in an established residential area with beautiful old growth, landscaping and trees. The house provided a stunning view of the river from just about every room in the house and the huge back deck. From the back deck, it is an easy slightly downhill walk to the dock on the river. Even though the property is an older home it is extremely well maintained and beautifully decorated with handmade quilts hanging on many of the walls. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need for cooking family meals. Our family was extremely comfortable with everything about the house and it's location.
Andrea’s home is very comfortable and had everything we needed. Quiet neighborhood, beautiful views and our dog really appreciated having a large safe fenced in area to romp and play.
We spent a lot of time at the house since we had medical problems to attend to. The chairs by the river became our go to place
The owner was very helpful for all our needs..
Greatly appreciate the property manager help at this wonderful property. Would/will stay here again if available. the entire family enjoyed staying here. No complaints. The crystal clear river out back was wonderful.
Loved the location, house and river. Brought our boat and dock was perfect. House was clean and view was awesome. Highly recommend.

This property was out of this world. We use it as a home base for a big photo and video shoot. It was perfect. The owner and neighbours were so friendly and nice. Amazing location, quiet. We hope we'll have the chance to go there again one day.
This quiet, riverside retreat is absolutely beautiful. We are a family of four with a medium sized dog, and stayed here last year. We were all so pleased to see that it was just as wonderful this year too. There is plenty of space with gorgeous river views, and if you like to cook, the cooking utensils are plentiful. We love it here, and Andrea is wonderful. Look toward to returning again.

Thanks; it was a pleasure to host you and I hope to do it again next year.
This property has a great location on the Rainbow River so that you can travel upstream to the springs or connect with the Withlacoochee River. Both rivers are very different and very interesting. The interior is nicely decorated with art and has a well supplied kitchen. Plenty of room for friends and additional family. The property is very spacious and the driveway will accommodate long trailers if you have a boat

Tranquility, beautiful nature
We are had great time. Chrystal river was refreshing and truly beautiful. We enjoyed outside patio area at night with a glass of wine. We did tubing and kayaking from KP hole. Kids jumped of the dock in clear water, that felt refreshing after the hot temperatures of the day.
I want to thank the owners for thoughtfulness of making us welcome and the house comfortable to stay.
Julia from Seminole, Florida.
We stayed for eleven days and it was amazing!! Amazing view from every bedroom, direct access to the rainbow river, house has everything you need!! We will definitely stay again!!
This house is absolutely beautiful inside and out. Great place to stay away from the main river activities but close enough to paddle with ease!
The dock is wonderful to tie your boat to and/or to fish from.
Swimming from the dock was a bonus as the water is clear and clean.
We enjoyed paddling the river and riding the nearby bike trails.
Andrea Wilson, the host, was wonderful with answering any and all questions prior to check-in. The house is so fully stocked, that we only needed our bathing suits to enjoy the week. Nearby restaurants and grocery stores added to the convenience of the location.,
If you have a large family or just want a large house to rent on the Rainbow River, this is the place for you!!
The property was exactly as advertised, but even more stunning upon arrival. The house was well-stocked, clean, and everything was in working order. The view was phenomenal, and the new fenced in area at the front was exactly what our dog needed. As for the owner. Andrea, she was exceptional. She made everything easy and communicated promptly. Our only nit was that we couldn’t stay longer. We absolutely fell in love with the place! Andrea, thank you ever so much for allowing us to stay. We’d love to come back.
My family and I had a great stay. All we had to bring was our clothes, food and river toys. The house is beautiful and well maintained. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat this is the place!
The house, the location, the panorama. Everything was perfect. The house had everything our family needed from a fully equipped kitchen to a beautiful backyard with its own boat dock where we fished and docked our boat and rented kayaks. The morning coffee watching the birds and squirrels play was a plus. The location was perfect with everything within close distance. This was truly a wonderful relaxing getaway for our family. Thank you Andrea for sharing your beautiful home.
We had a wonderful week full of delightful memories in this very special house by the river. The house is perfect for families traveling together. We thoroughly enjoyed the dock and the rear deck. We rented kayaks for the week from Blue Run Cart Master and River Rat Rentals. (They were great!) We also rented a pontoon boat for the day from Captain Bob's, which was wonderful! We were able to go back to the house and leave the boat at the dock while we had lunch.
This house is AMAZING! We loved it! The kitchen is one of the most well stocked kitchens I have ever seen in a vacation rental. (And we rent vacation homes 6+ times a year) It had EVERYTHING we needed. It was very clean, cozy and plenty of space. The host was very easy to work with. And the view from all of the rooms in the house and on the back deck is absolutely perfect!

About the host
Hosted by Andrea Wilson
Born and raised in Florida, I fell in love with the Rainbow River when a friend who lives upstream invited me to spend a few weekends. These days we live in St. Petersburg and spend as much of our leisure time as we can on the river.
I've been a quilter for more than 15 years and, having enjoyed traveling to retreats with friends, decided that Somewhere... would be the perfect spot for a group getaway. We've made a special place just for those who want to spend some time creating and enjoying each others' company. Now, Somewhere... is offered as a quilting, sewing and crafting retreat as well as a vacation rental.
Why they chose this property
We knew that Somewhere... was the one for us the minute we walked in and saw the amazing river views from the open living room and each bedroom. Everything about the property seemed just right and now that we have redecorated, we love it even more.
What makes this property unique
Somewhere... is close to town and the conveniences that it provides yet it is all country living at it's best. We are downstream from the typical tubing take-outs, so it is peaceful and quiet even at the height of the summer vacation season. The house is open and spacious; comfortable for all ages. Additional discount applies to stays of one months or longer.
