Redwood Cottage is a unique, delightful and romantic getaway located amid large Redwood trees just 1.2 miles northeast of our little village. This open floor plan features a clear redwood interior; bedroom with king-sized bed and luxury linens, a ladder that takes you to the second sleeping space, a cozy loft with a full sized futon mattress, just perfect for 2 children. This charming cottage has a private sun deck, a private hot-tub, and a complete kitchen with clear Redwood slab counter-tops, and large skylights to give warmth and light in the sitting and dining areas. The sleeping area upstairs consists of a full-sized futon and — kids are thrilled by this! — can be reached with a step ladder. Finally, the cottage features a full bath, a gas fireplace, Smart TV, Dish TV, a stereo, free Wi-Fi, a gas barbecue, convenient private parking and comes stocked with Organic Big River Coffee and Teas. The word is out on this little gem; it is frequently sold out. Dog friendly w/Pet Fee. As of 02-08-22, upgraded to Xfinity/Comcast Cable Internet Service Provider! Another wonderful trip to Mendocino!

We’ve stayed at the Redwood Cottage a couple times now and have thoroughly enjoyed the quiet cabin and surrounding areas. Close to town, yet tucked away, it’s exactly what we were looking for. Listing is as described, clean, and cozy. Only thing this time around was that the hot tub was a bit dirty. Otherwise, met all our needs!

Quiet betaway

Lovely quiet cabin. It had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Enjoyed the fireplace, spa, and large king bed. It was conveniently located close to the village and many trails for walking.

Mendocino Cottage

The cottage was exactly as it was pictured. The location was a very short drive to all of the shops and restaurants in Mendocino. The cottage was very warm and inviting and we truly enjoyed our stay.

Quaint Redwood Cottage

The cottage was clean, quaint, and warm. Compact size allows for cozy accommodations for a small family of four. The loft is certainly kid friendly and the main floor bed is spacious and comfortable. Fridge was smaller than expected though as adequate as one for an RV.

Mendo Cottage

Small and cozy cottage just above Mendo village. Great location, quiet spot, friendly people. The cottage is clean, equip with most kitchen items needed. Housekeeping comes in daily to make beds, restock towels, and clean dishes which is a nice perk.

Overall ok, some things could be upgraded, and added like a toaster, silverware very very old. Tv a problem, rickety ladder to loft, best for kids to sleep in the loft.

Perfect and comfortable cottage

The home was more then we expected. It was perfect for us with our rescue dog who is scared of every unfamiliar noise. It's quiet with no in and out traffic of cars or people. The patio with the spa is a real plus. One review said it was like a studio apartment but I disagree. It's bigger then expected and there plenty of room for a small family. The town is so close, you can walk to it. It is a beautiful home where you can spend your time relaxing if what you really want is a good staycation. I would love to return next year.

Quaint cottage

Overall the cottage is adorable. Plenty of pots/pans/utensils/plates/etc. The water pressure is good. I don’t recall seeing in the listing that the little love seat opens into a bed. This was a nice surprise that I realized on our last day 😀. Also, the provided dog bowls and towels are a very nice touch. Our dog also seemed to enjoy his time away from Berkeley-he never once barked. 😀

Nice Little Cottage

This is a nice little cottage only about a mile from downtown Mendocino. it has a gas fireplace that is connected to the thermostat, so it comes on automatically. The jacuzzi is a nice feature. Very private and nice on a cold morning or evening. My only 2 complaints are that there are no instructions for the jacuzzi (it took a while to figure out how to turn it off), and that the coffee maker is old and needs replacing. It does not drip very efficiently, and the filter tends to overfill and your coffee is filled with the grounds.

Nice cottage in nature

We really liked the location of the cottage. Located on a quiet country road that's nice to walk the dogs and about a 15 minute walk to town. It's really a studio with a small loft with a steep ladder. One large room with kitchen, dining, living, bed. The cottage is cozy with lots of natural wood. It is a bit outdated and we noticed that we were bothered with some mildew/musty smell, probably from the carpet. It's a very wet area and I'm sure this may be common but it bothered both of us however we opened the windows and door and rant the fan and it was fine. The internet seemed ok but no smart TV and the remote really didn't function. It was nice to have the hot tub and private porch to relax. The kitchen was equipped OK but could use some updated dishes etc. We enjoyed the gas fireplace heater and the stove, microwave, and fridge were all good for cooking.

A little bit of a disappointment

Firstly all let me say, we had a lovely stay in Mendocino! We love the town, we love wandering around and the location was wonderful. I guess I had high hopes by the picture and by the description online. Essentially the property is a studio with a loft! We never used the loft so in essence you walk in and everything is all in one room it’s old and dated. It is clean but everything is older and could really use an uplift. The three nights that we were there, I kept saying well it has a barbecue that’s a plus. Well we can have our dog with us that’s a plus. Well it has a Jacuzzi that’s a plus. I wonder why I kept trying to talk myself into it.. I kept referring back to the pictures to see what I had missed. We were happy with our stay, but would Investigate another accommodation next time. I do need to add, my fiancé who is more of an outdoor mountain kind of guy walked away with a better opinion. Maybe I am just too girlie. Lol

Cute studio in a nice neighborhood

Its not a 2 bedroom. There is one bed and then a futon mattress in the loft above as others have mentioned so I am unsure why is says 2 bedroom in the description. Its a studio . Maybe that is a setting with in the description choices that is beyond the property owners control? So can it sleep 4? Maybe. Not 4 adults. And honestly the loft railing didn't feel super safe if you had some rambunctious kids. This is a cute little spot in a nice neighborhood. If you are just looking for a place to sleep that feels safe for you and the pups its a great spot Yard is secure and area is clean. Property manager was a INN in town and they were fast and easy to deal with if we had any issues. Some of the reviews mentioned the TV but is must have gotten upgraded because its fine and we did not use the coffee pot but it looked new so I am sure that has been fixed also. But as some of the other reviewers have stated it could use some work for the price you are paying. The coffee table was pretty rickety. Felt unsafe to use it. The shower experience was tough for 2 6 ft humans. Its very small and felt a bit precarious getting in and out. The lack of towels for the 3 days with out a way to wash and try them was tough but we ended up putting them over a chair in front of the heater to help dry them in the winter months. Worked pretty good. Now for us the bed was terrible. As some reviewers have stated they loved it. We felt it was way to firm. We almost left a day early just so we could get a good night sleep. But again this is sounds like a personal preference. I was so happy to get home and get a good night sleep I almost cried. I think if the property owners did a few things to upgrade the spot and create a vacation experience they would get a lot of return renters. It has amazing bones, quiet location, and has a ton of potential. The property manager was very nice and accommodating. The bottle of wine and a nice birthday note along with a cute basket for Dog needs was a nice touch and was very thoughtful. Overall we had a great time in Mendocino. There was a lot to do that was dog friendly and I look forward to exploring the area more.
