Wonderful stay. Great location near Blacksburg and Va Tech Hokie land. Beautiful area in the mountain valley. Host was very helpful and we appreciated having simple amenities.
We came in town for a football game and had an amazing experience. The house is super clean, with all the essentials and then some. Communication was almost immediate when we had questions. A little out of the way but worth it!
Stayed at this lovely home just minutes away from Virginia Tech. The host left graduation decor for our graduate which was so considerate. Communication was easy and the home had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Thank you so much!
Stayed for a few days while visiting our new cadet at Virginia Tech. The location was great in relation to Blacksburg, the house was super nice and clean, the hospitality was second to none. We really appreciated all the little extras that were provided. We will definitely be looking at this house again for future VT visits!
Just Ok. Sheets were stained, but clean. Floor registers were pushed in and dangerous - particularly for small children. The listing should have mentioned the difficult drive way and the fact that the area doesn’t have cell service. Not a “fun” house, but functional if you just need to stay in the area.
We went for my son’s college graduation. House was only 12 minutes from VT. Great host they actually left a graduation card with an Amazon gift card for my son and had written congratulations on her chalk board in the kitchen. She had cold water in the fridge for us, snacks and coffee for us to use. Great 3 bedroom 2 bath house. Would recommend for any VT family coming to a game, graduation or just to visit.
We had a wonderful stay! The hosts couldn't have been more accommodating. We rented this home for VT's 2024 graduation. It was an easy quick drive to Lane Stadium. When we checked in , we found a lovely congratulations gift and sign for our Hokie. I was also pleasantly surprised to find water in the fridge, toiletries in the bathroom and snacks in the kitchen. I would definitely rent here again. Our family was able to stay in one convenient location which made graduation extra special. Thanks for making our graduation celebration truly memorable! Go HOKIES!
My daughter &I moved my son from Durham,NC to VA to attend grad school at VT. This house is remote(no stores nearby) but so cozy&quiet. Owners put 24 pk of bottled water in the fridge & huge basket of snacks from granola bars, mini brownies, cinnamon rolls, crackers & candy. My adult kids went crazy. Beds were so comfortable, kitchen was well stocked. Only downside was driving out of the driveway as you cannot see to the right due to elevation of property and curve of the road. You're 15 minutes to Blacksburg, 20 minutes to Christiansburg, & 45 to Roanoke
Great property and location close to VT! Plenty of space to relax after a long day! Appreciated the snacks, coffee, and waters the host left for us! Great communication and hospitality!
When we rented the home I was concerned that the location was too far from the Virginia Tech Campus. After staying in the home this weekend my experience was that it literally took only a few minutes to drive from the home to the Virginia Tech Campus. The home is very neat , tidy and comfortable. Super easy access to get back and forth to campus. We enjoyed our stay and would rent again.
This house is a short drive from VT, and is clean and well-maintained. Although a little dated, it was the perfect spot for our group of parents visiting our VT students and attending the football game on Saturday.
We stayed at the house versus a hotel due to cost, convenience, and overall feeling of being home away from home. The house did not disappoint and the owner responded quick to messages.
We had gone there for my son’s college admission and it was very convenient place just 15 minutes away. The place is quite peaceful nested in hills. The best part is the host they are very nice and quite helpful. We loved the experience
Dawn was very responsive to our inquiries. House was a great short-term housing solution for our travel crew, who worked the entire summer at Virginia Tech. So much better than putting them up in hotel. The house provided them comfortable and clean accommodations as well as individual privacy, as each crew member had their own bedroom. Having a kitchen allowed for "home cooking" instead of fast food every day. We would love to return next year if work brings us back to the Blacksburg area!
We were there for a VT graduation so basically just there to sleep. Driveway tricky. We put balloon at bottom as target. House very clean but musty smell. Overall it served the purpose for us.
This is a great location for those section hiking the AT it is within 10 to 20 minutes of 6 trailheads.
Dawn is personable and easy to work with as is her nephew, brother, and especially her Mom.
It was good getting to know all of them.
Our family stayed in this roomy home to attend our daughter's graduation from VT graduate school. It was spotless and spacious (could have held much more than just our family and would be a great place for family or friends to stay for a VT game or event). It had been cutely decorated for the holidays and had homey touches like a personal welcome, snacks, waters and lots of games to play. It even had an iron that my daughter used to get the wrinkles out of her graduation gown! We were able to spend fun quality time here and would love to come back again in the summer to do more exploring and hiking in the area. My only recommendation for users is to try to check in during the day. It was a little tricky to find for the first time at night but we were fine after that. We enjoyed being close to Blacksburg but also the pretty scenery around Newport.
Our group of 3 couples spent a weekend and we liked that everyone had their own bedroom with a queen-sized bed. The owner went above an beyond to make us feel welcomed and at home -- including a personalized welcome message, snacks, and some sweets. I guarantee you'll miss the driveway the first time you go there, but once you learn the landmarks, it's easy to find. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!
I was a bridesmaid in a wedding at Mountain Lake Lodge and couldn't find a place to stay. One other bridesmaid and her family were also in the same boat. Thankfully we found this house which accommodated all of us! It was spacious and clean. It's an older home, and we knew that going in, so we expected it to be a little dusty and musty. If you've got severe allergies, bring along an air purifier! There were window units in the master and in the living area, but none in the guest rooms. However, the house stayed pretty cool (we were there over labor day weekend). All of the amenities were there, and they even provided some drinking water and snacks, which were a nice touch! You can tell a lot of love was experienced within the walls of this home over it's lifetime. Keep in mind, you're in the mountains, and it's pretty remote, so you won't have much reception. We downloaded the area map on Google maps so we could navigate when we didn't have wifi. But the house has wifi and it's adequate for being able to communicate. The driveway is hard to see, so just be careful when you're coming up the road, it sneaks up on you!
Overall we enjoyed our stay and would likely stay again if we ever needed to stay in that area of the world again. Dawn was AMAZING at communicating-- super quick and always pleasant. She was very accommodating, too. Would recommend this property to large groups looking to stay in the Newport VA area.
