About this property

Church House - Onetangi Sea Views and Spa

Summary:

Church House is a well-appointed, freshly renovated 3-bedroom home plus separate sleepout, set just above Onetangi Beach. With warm wooden floors, open-plan living, and generous outdoor spaces including a spa pool, it offers an easy, relaxed base for families or groups enjoying Waiheke’s coast and nearby vineyards.

The Space:

The main house is arranged across one level, making it simple and comfortable to live in. Open-plan living and dining areas centre around a wood-burning fire and flow easily out to the north-facing deck through bi-fold doors.

Outdoor living is a real highlight. The deck and garden are set up for long days outside, with a large outdoor dining table, gas BBQ, spa pool, and multiple seating areas for relaxing. From here, there are breathtaking sea views across the bay, with the garden providing a private, sheltered setting.

A separate sleepout located at the front of the property provides additional sleeping space and is best suited to children. It has external access and includes two sets of bunk beds, offering a sense of independence while remaining close to the main house.

Whether you are spending the day at the beach, visiting nearby vineyards, or enjoying quiet evenings soaking in the spa, the layout works easily for shared holiday living.

Guest Access:

Guests have full access to the home, outdoor areas, and on-site parking. Check in is from 2 pm and check out is at 10.30 am. Early check in or late check out may be available for a small fee, however these can only be confirmed closer to your arrival date once we know the bookings scheduled immediately before and after your stay.

The Neighborhood:

Church House sits above Onetangi Beach in an elevated, peaceful position with the coastline stretching out below. Onetangi is one of Waiheke’s longest beaches and works well for swimming, morning walks along the sand, and relaxed afternoons by the water.

At the far end of the beach, Three Seven Two offers modern coastal dining in a relaxed setting, while Charlie Farley’s sits directly across from the sand and is a popular spot for casual meals, good coffee, and easy afternoons that drift into evening.

Just inland is Vineyard Valley, home to Stonyridge, Tantalus Estate, Te Motu, and Wild on Waiheke, all known for tastings and long lunches among the vines. The Heke is also nearby, combining craft beer, spirits, and hearty food with a lively outdoor garden setting.

Groceries and everyday essentials are close by in Ostend, and Oneroa Village is a short drive away for boutiques, galleries, and dining by the water.

Getting Around:

Getting around from Church House is straightforward. The Matiatia passenger ferry terminal is around a fifteen minute drive. Local bus services run regularly from Onetangi Beach, stopping near wineries before continuing through Oneroa Village and on to the ferry terminal.

Taxis, hire cars, and e bikes are available across the island, and off street parking is available at the property.

Other Things to Note:

Church House by Stay Waiheke has an Nespresso coffee pod machine.

There is reverse cycle aircon in the property.

Waiheke Island relies entirely on rainwater tanks for its water supply. To support sustainable living on the island and help protect local resources, we ask guests to be mindful of their water use, especially during the drier summer months.

Please Note: This property only allows 6 adults

Pets considered on request only and must be approved in writing.

The property was perfect for a family holiday

The property was even better than the photos. The view and outside spaces were incredible. 5 minute walk to the beach down Jacobs ladder. The house was set up with games and puzzles for our daughter, swing, trampoline and monkey bars. She said she never wanted to leave! The house was clean and well appointed. We will definately return.

The Church house is a gorgeous character home, with a stunning view over Onetangi Beach.

The Church house is a gorgeous character home, with a stunning view over Onetangi Beach. We stayed there over our wedding weekend with our 1 year old. There was plenty of room for him to play inside while the weather wasn’t great, and a trampoline and swing which he loved being on once the sun came out. Despite the age of the house it is very warm and has a good heating system if required during the colder months. Would definitely stay here again.
