We have stayed at this property multiple times and always enjoy ourselves. This was our first time going in the winter and it was great. Really loved having the fire going, and watching the cranes outside. Spotted a bald eagle soaring by too. Highly recommend.
The location, the property and the entire experience combined to make for a peaceful retreat. Sunshine, birdsong, cozy place in the woods. We hope to return again soon!
This was our second stay here and we loved it just as much as last year. The view out on the water is amazing and it is such a peaceful place to stay, listen to the birds, and enjoy nature. The many windows and screen doors allow you to enjoy the view even if it is rainy or too hot outside.
The pictures do not do this place justice. The house was such a relaxing experience. Half of the house is nothing but windows, and you can lay in your bed and watch the sunrise. The screened in porch is a such a great amenity. They even have a porch swing down by the water. It is such serene and tranquil place to stay, would definitely stay there again!!!
This is our second visit and we have loved both our stays here. The views are amazing and it really feels like you are somewhere serene, peaceful and relaxing. We have loved the porch to enjoy our meals with the birds. The hot tub, kayak and fire pit are also favorites. A very cozy home away from home.
Cute place with lots of birds. Lynda was very flexible and helpful in this Covid situation. Loved the location with so many locations to hike in the area, plus close to the beach. We'd like to come back when we are able to kayak too!
The home was perfect for my husband, dog, and I. Very clean and the location was exactly as pictured. We enjoyed all of the birds and animals along the river. Felt remote even though downtown Saugatuck and the area wineries were very close drives away. Communication with the host was excellent. Definitely recommend.

We stayed for 5 days and the place was all we could have asked for. The weather was outstanding and we took full advantage of being outdoors in the hot tub or down by the water. Breakfast and lunch was always on the screened in porch. We will be back!
This lovely, secluded cottage was the perfect getaway for my husband's birthday. We got takeout dinner from The Butler in nearby Saugatuck, and enjoyed it on the beautiful screened-in porch listening to the sounds of birds on the marsh. The view of the river is breathtaking. This cottage has everything you need for a vacation.

Thanks Sandi! We are so happy the house worked well for your husband’s birthday! Hope we’ll see you again next year 😉
My wife and I had a wonderful time during a long weekend. The owners truly try to give an opportunity to enjoy their home. It has a wonderful view throughout the home, especially nice in the hot tub. The home was clean, checking in and out was simple. Just a nice place to hang at. Highly recommended
The house was clean and had all the necessary accessories needed. We loved the location but was very close to the neighbors. As a family of four, we needed to use the pull out beds. They were not very comfortable so I would recommend this property for only two people
Had a wonderful stay and will definitely try to come again next year. All the windows and screen doors made it so easy to enjoy the weather and sounds of nature while still inside. Spent lots of time reading, relaxing, and working on our hobby projects (sewing for me, miniature painting for my husband). Loved eating out on the screened in porch, kayaking up and down the river, bird watching, and the easy convenience of nearby restaurants for food.
This is one of our favorite places we have ever stayed. Everything about it is wonderful. We had everything we needed plus more. I honestly could have stayed at the cabin the entire day and I would have been content. I especially loved the surrounding neighborhoods to take our dogs on a daily walk. Everything was quiet, wooded, and people were very friendly. If I have to say anything negative I guess the bed is not very comfortable and after a lot of rain, the cottage smelled a little funky. I quickly found a couple of plug-in air fresheners to take care of the smell. Neither of these things were a big deal at all for us, but I guess it could bother others. We hope to return to this place in the future!

Thanks so much for reviewing our home! I’m so happy you enjoyed the stay! Was the bed too soft for you? We have that memory foam topper, which the guest book notes can be removed, if that was the issue. I hope that didn’t put a damper on your visit! The rain had been relentless I’m glad you enjoyed yourselves despite the lack of sunshine!

Great views, peaceful and quiet
We love the Saugatuck/Douglas area and have stayed at several different rentals. There is no doubt that this home has beautiful views! You walk in the door and before you are nothing but windows that look out to the beautiful marsh. No one and nothing to block the view. If you are looking for peace, quiet and being close to nature, this IS the place! We enjoyed feeding the birds and watching them and the gray and black squirrels. We spent a lot of time looking through our binoculars over to the marsh to watch young Blue Herrons and deer play in the grasses. We took out the kayak for a relaxing afternoon and was in awe when a bald eagle flew over our heads. If you have health issues, be careful as the path down to the water is somewhat steep and cumbersome. The king bed is very comfortable and provided a good nights sleep, but the lack of curtains or darkening filters on the windows directly over the bed and facing the mirrored wall behind the bed, was a schock to the system upon waking up. We had difficulty lighting the grill and it took a long time to cook our steaks. We hope to go back and enjoy the peace, quiet, nature and relaxation we found there. The house is clean, but needs updating from the 60's feel. This could be idyllic with some updates.

Thanks for the input. This is our first comment about the grill, but it is older so we will replace it! Probably won't be covering the skylights in the bedroom; but we are sorry they bothered you.

Was any one here before we came?
All in all, a lovely area to vist. Quaint townships to explore and very well located for a quiet getaway. Spending time outside the cottage there were some downsides.
The outdoor furniture was in disarray and dirty. The windows, and there are many, provide a senic view. Grill worked well, and conveniently located off kitchen. You had to shut the doors fast or a herd of mosquitoes would follow you in. And an incredible variety of spiders were outside and inside, if you are into that sort of company. Unfortunately we were not, and we were bitten by many. Maybe we were not outdoorsy enough for this place. Cool architecture in the 1967 house. Reminiscent of a Frank Lloyd Wright design, there were very streamlined details. That was very pleasant for the time spent indoors. But it felt as if the interior was very clean but not visited for some time. Huge bed, comfortable and 60% of the attraction here.
Odd light switches, but eventually figured out what turned on what, even though labeled. Needed to turn on lights to turn on lights.
Back to outside...hot tub. Had it been cleaned all summer? No attention to our arrival was put into its use.
Kayak....We had asked about it before we came so we didn't bring ours. Big mistake. Plan for bringing your own or don't bother. And that was a focus for us. And we asked ahead. Not sure what happened there.
There is an "induction" stove. Be sure you read up before you try to cook on this one.
We planned to eat in 50% of the time. Thank goodness the grill was working well. Easier to use than the stove.
We think the place has charm and unique features. The lack of outdoor organization was a disappointing factor.
TV was not working well, if you need one. Blacked out between signals. We read more and had quiet time that was better anyway.

Thanks so much for taking time to review our home. I do want to reassure you that the hot tub is cleaned, shocked and chemically balanced between every guest; but that being said, I’m sorry you didn’t reach out to me or the maintenance number provided if you felt attention was needed. We are always available and would have welcomed the chance to make your stay more enjoyable.
Second time staying at this wonderful home w/ our Standard Poodle. Beautiful views, setting and location. We highly recommend this VRBO for those looking for week in SW Michigan.
My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and had a fabulous time! Very clean and peaceful, and was just right for two. We LOVED the hot tub. Kind of close to other homes, but still feels pretty private. We had a great trip!

About the host
Hosted by Tammy Davis
Joe and Lynda Petty moved to Saugatuck in 1983 when they purchased The Park House and converted it into a bed and breakfast. Falling in love with the area, we purchased the property at Indian Point to have a place to 'retire' once our innkeeping days were done. Indian Point was the first property in our rental program and it became such a successful rental that we only get to use it ourselves a few weeks a year.
Why they chose this property
The first time we took a drive down 131st Street we both said, 'Boy, we could sure live here!' Ten years later we needed a break from the inn so we took a drive to an advertised open house. When we walked in the door and looked over the marsh we decided we had to have the house. Even though it was the Saturday of Labor Day , we put the deal together before the end of the weekend.
What makes this property unique
Our 2 favorite activities are relaxing in front of the fireplace and sitting in the hot tub! We never even turn the jets on, preferring instead to hear all the sounds of the marsh at night. The grandsons really like fishing from the seawall and taking the 2 person kayak around the marsh is a wonderful way to touch nature. New in 2016, patio deck overlooking the marsh and flag stone patio with fire pit at the waterfront.
