East Fork Cottage is a little gem, surrounded by woods with a river view. Our grandkids loved the loft and hallway bunkbeds. Beds were comfortable, bathroom roomy & spotless. Kitchen acconmodating with a couple minor exceptions (communicated to host.) Do note, kayaks are an additional rental. Seth & Emmye were attentive & communicative hosts. We want to return & stay more than two nights!

Perfect Anniversary Weekend

We had a great time at the cottage. It is very well-appointed. We had everything we needed for our stay. The location is excellent on what was a lazy river while we were there. We didn't get to kayak because of the rain, but it was very relaxing listening to the rain hit the tree canopy. We were a short drive to tons of trails and several waterfalls. We also had better Verizon coverage in the cottage than we had in town at Mentone!

Weekend getaway

Great little cabin for a weekend getaway. Plenty of room for 2 people. Lovely spot on the river and so close to all that the Mentone area has to offer. Having the kayaks for our use was perfect for exploring up and down the quiet river. I have no problem recommending this cabin.

Relaxing tiny home experience

Nice, tiny home, clean property. Close to attractions in the Lookout Mountain area and very quiet at a fork of Little River. Since no internet and cell connection available, communication with property owner difficult. We had questions on the heating, but finally figured it out.

Short getaway

Property was not very clean on arrival. Lots of huge black flies inside and dead bugs on the window seals. Moldy bathroom ceiling and shower faucet. Also the shower doesn’t drain well. Porch was not cleaned off either, but the grill was handy. The A/C was locked to only hold cool for like 3 hours so it would reset back to 76 and get super hot in there. However, the tiny home was super cute and we enjoyed the kayaks and the back porch. The cell service was fine for us with Verizon and ATT. Didn’t find a TV in the house but we didn’t need one anyway. We made a trip over to DeSoto Falls and Cathedral Caverns. We enjoyed the trip but wish the property was cleaned better and the A/C would have stayed cooler.

Mixed bag on this trip

We arrived at our original booking and unloaded the car and unpacked. We were getting ready for bed and my wife noticed a green film on the wall near the roof of our bedroom. Turns out it was mold! Well, that's unacceptable. We notified the owners and to their credit they quickly moved us down the road to one of their other properties. That one was mold free, thankfully. The only issue we had with the new place is that it didn't have a microwave, which is highly unusual. (The listing said that it DID have a microwave). It also didn't have Wifi, but we had service so that wasn't a huge deal. I gave it three stars because the owners remedied the problem quickly but the fact that there is mold in the house and they weren't aware is pretty awful. And the lack of a microwave was a drag.

We arrived to find the cabin in very poor condition. It was dusty, with hair and dead bugs in several areas. The fridge and stovetop hadn’t been cleaned, and the floors were filthy, our feet turned black after walking barefoot. There was no clean mop, only a Swiffer pad caked with dirt and hair. We spent about two hours cleaning just to make it livable.Outside, there were beer boxes and food wrappers near the cabin despite warnings about bears. The bedroom surfaces were covered in dust, which triggered our allergies. On top of that, the ice maker and water filter were broken, and the microwave was missing a handle. The listing emphasized a cleaning fee and a professional service, but if there is one, it’s not doing an acceptable or sanitary job. We messaged the owner within two hours and never received a response. The directions were clear and the cabin itself could be great, but arriving to a dirty rental completely dampened the experience.
Hair and unknown scum in fridge. A very basic cleaning should have gotten it up
Soiled chair
Further soiling in fridge/freezer
One of the many locations of dead bugs. I understand the rental is in the woods, but it’s obvious the dead bugs had been ignored for quite some time, and hadn’t been cleaned before our arrival.
