About this property
Cozy cabin on the Cedar River
Nestled by the river in the heart of Maple Valley's oldest HOA, this freshly refurbished historic cabin provides a tranquil and convenient retreat just 45 minutes from downtown Seattle. Located on a dead-end private road, the cabin shares one acre of wooded in privacy with the owners' home. Outside enjoy your own personal river-front beach and fire pit, propane BBQ, miles of biking and walking trails, along with forest and river wildlife. Depending on the season, spawning salmon, bald eagles, deer, elk, and the owner's very friendly (but vocal) sizeable yellow lab.
Inside, you will find a Jotul wood-burning stove, new appliances, and a well-appointed kitchen. Furnished with antiques, vintage pieces, along with a smart TV and DVD player. Downstairs the cozy bedroom boasts a FULL-SIZE bed, feather pillows and duvet, and a door that opens onto a sheltered patio with river views. Due to the age of the cabin the downstairs ceilings are low—6’10”. And the stairs are quite STEEP. Please ask any questions BEFORE BOOKING if you have any concerns.

About the host
Hosted by Rachel Padgett
We (Rachel, Brian, and Ziggy Stardust, our big yellow lab) look forward to welcoming you to our cabin and riverfront retreat. Rachel was born and raised in England (North Yorkshire), Brian was born in Connecticut but grew up mostly in California. Together they have lived in Connecticut, New York City, Seattle, and now Maple Valley.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this riverfront property as soon as we saw it. The cabin was a bonus we were not expecting but have embraced. In our first year here, we spent a lot of weekends "lovingly" fixing up the cabin. This included replacing the chimney and wood-burning stove, replacing the appliances, laying new carpet downstairs, painting (everything!), installing a new patio, and adding as many home comforts as we could to make the cabin convenient, welcoming, and cozy.
What makes this property unique
Located just thirty-five minutes from Sea-Tac, forty-five minutes from downtown Seattle, and ten minutes from local stores and restaurants, it's hard to believe how secluded this property feels. At the end of the resident's only low-traffic road, you find direct access to the Cedar River Trail; great for biking and walking. In the summer months, you can take a bracing dip in the river or enjoy tubing (we'll share all the best spots with you.)
