About this property

on gorgeous Great Pond (lake), great for families!

A fun A frame just steps from the lake's edge. The cabin was recently updated and has a cozy UPTA CAMP Maine vibe, but with a lot of modern conveniences like a work space, smart TVs, smart speakers and automatic lighting. Need to bring Grandma? There's a first floor bedroom and a ramp to the door. Wake up in a king bed facing the lake and watch the sun rise or meditate in the hanging hammock chairs. The bunk room can sleep a lot of kiddos, making this the perfect type of house to share with another family. The she shed has a combination exercise/meditation area with equipment and a fully appointed desk ready for remote work. Electric car? We have a Tesla charger!

We have lots of bed options to make different mixes of families work but given that we are on a small holding tank, we do not want reservations using all the beds. We want to limit adult guests to 4 (6 with no children) and prefer children not exceed 6 with their adults. Please message us for exceptions to this.

We listen to our renters and have made upgrades and fixes based on their recommendations, including blackout shades, fixing the water pump and related electric (we've been here two weeks Aug 2022 with 4-6 people and no issues, turns out there was a small leak not visible), some new deck boards, and a new queen mattress downstairs will be in place for 2023.

Our family of 4 had a wonderful week at the cabin! The lake access right outside was a constant form of entertainment for us. The area around the dock was sandy which was great for swimming and using our floats. We enjoyed taking out our paddle boards and used the canoe and kayak that was stored in the back. Sunrises were gorgeous with a front row seat in late July. Perfect spot to enjoy the Great Pond!

Great cabin

We've stayed at this cabin multiple times on our annual fishing trip. We love this place. Fantastic cabin, right on the lake with a great dock and fire pit. Erin is absolutely the best! So responsive and accommodating. To many positives to mention!Can't wait to come back again next year!

Fabulous Lake Vacation!

The Acorn Cabin was as pictured and described. Comfortable and thoughtfully appointed, everything you need for a fantastic Lake vacay is here. The host was very communicative and the cabin accommodated our group quite comfortably. Would stay there again!

Great cabin

This is our second time staying here. Great place for our annual fishing trip. Cabin is right on the water, great dock and fire pit out back. Owner is great at communicating and always got right back to us with any questions.

Little slice of heaven

We had a wonderful time at the Acorn Cabin and the owner puts so much attention into little details to make your stay smooth, like her Maine themed kids library, the board games, the maps with suggestions, etc. the view is incredible, beds comfy, wonderful updates but still enough of that charm you get in these old cabins. Being able to see escape to the she shed to meditate was a huge plus. Can’t wait to make this an annual trip.

Great Place just not for us

This was a nice cabin. The location was nice in terms of being near Belgrade Lakes. It was right near the water. It helped my sister and I to get reconnected to Maine, however my sister and I would prefer to be on the side of the lake that we were always on. I feel like this cabin is better suited for 2 or 3 people, and rather then the group that we had.

Cozy, comfy and an amazing water view!

We visited with a small group (just 3 adults and one 6 year old) but could have comfortably added another 4, at least, without feeling cramped. This cabin is the perfect waterfront location with an incredible view of Great Pond. It's so amazing to just look at the water all day if so desired! The sandy bottom of the pond was a huge plus while swimming and a perfect spot for kids to be as well. A couple of kayaks and a canoe are available to use, and the cabin is stocked with games and puzzles should a rainy day pop up. Giant jenga was a huge hit! The couch is also super comfy :) Finally, the owner (Erin) was as responsive as humanly possible to questions I had here and there. Definitely recommend this cabin!

Amazing week on Great Pond

The location is stunning and we had more than enough space for our family of 6, including 2 young children and my parents. The host was also incredibly communicative before and throughout our stay. My father has mobility issues, and Erin reached out to see if there was anything special we needed to ensure a great stay. We actually had an issue with the grill our first day and Erin had a new one out to us before lunch the following day. The location is honestly 10/5. My kids were in the lake from sun up to sundown every day. Perfect. The only negative feedback we have is that the camp could use a good scrub. The rugs and couches were dirty and I couldn’t find a vacuum. Beyond that, the house had literally everything else you could need for a week on the lake.

great stay at Great Pond

Wonderfully accommodating and communicative host! Erin definitely wants you to enjoy your stay and has thought of everything to ensure you do. It is easy to tell this place means a lot to her and her family. They come up often and so you do truly have everything you need down to band-aids. Bring your own linens and towels and you are all set for a fantastic time on a gorgeous and clean lake with beautiful views. Comfy beds, complete kitchen, cozy sofas and awesome fire pit. Acorn Cabin, cozy and compact, was just right for our family of 5 adults and young adults. Even with a day of pouring rain, we enjoyed space to connect and also had plenty of space to read, play games, work, and cook. We only wish we had more time to kayak/canoe on the lake. This camp is nestled among a few others but felt private so coffee on the deck, as well as picnics -and so nice to have a grill - were so enjoyable. We have happy memories and even art to remind us of our time at Acorn Cabin. Our stay was short, but the time spent at Acorn Cabin was special.

Waterfront Cottage

The rustic cottage was located on a lovely pond. It was comfortable, but it wasn't clean: bathroom had tampon wrappers and dirt and debris on the floor; the island had crumbs; the eating table was sticky; there were wood chips along the rug in the main sitting area all of the way up the stairs. They left there toothbrushes, hairbrushes, razors and personal items in the bathroom. Their food was in the fridge and freezer and there were food wrappers on the lawn. It was very disappointing in that we were there to celebrate our daughter's graduation and had extended family with us. The owner was responsive but didn't make arrangements to have it cleaned and in stead offered to refund us and that we could find a hotel.

An authentic Maine Cabin experience

We had a lovely time hanging out with family at the Acorn Cabin! Erin was a very responsive host. She fixed issues very promptly and was easy to talk to. The cabin was well stocked and decorated, the lake amazing, the location is perfect (right in between Augusta and Waterville) and we really had a great time! Being originally from Maine, the stay reminded me of other cabin stays we had as a family growing up. I do want to make sure that future renters know all of the details, since we were surprised by a few. These are why I gave a 4 instead of 5 star review: 1. You have to supply all of your own linens (sheets, towels, etc.) I found this odd since a lot of people fly in, and it wasn't stipulated up front in the listing (or at least I didn't see it). We ended up going to Walmart and got some cheap sheets and towels, but I think it would really up the experience if those things were provided. 2. The electricity is a little wonky. It might have been the heat, but we had a battle with the water pump the whole stay (constantly resetting the breaker or the GFCI outlet) We also changed out the bathroom outlet because it stopped working a few days in. 3. The outdoor area was not very well staged or clean when we arrived. My brother had to spend a couple of hours cleaning off the furniture and setting things up before we had our parents over. This didn't bother us too much but if you want everything perfect on arrival and ready to go, be aware. We also had to get our own propane for the grill and water for the water filter tank (all four tanks were empty). 4. Pay attention to all of the host communication! Erin has a video that outlines all of the quirks of the cabin, including the holding tank, the electricity stuff, etc. 5. Bugs are a huge issue, and some of the windows were not properly closing at night so they got into the cabin. Erin got a handy man out to fix is ASAP, but this is a fact in Maine you need to be aware of! 6. The master bedroom is comfortable but desperately needs black out curtains, we were waking up with the sun every morning at 4:30 AM. The downstairs bed is not comfortable at all, and had a ripped plastic covering on it that made it very loud to move around on. That room is stipulated for use for an elderly parent though, so maybe use the pull out couch or big sectional to sleep instead. Overall: A great stay on Great pond. Responsive host. Would recommend as an authentic Maine lakefront cabin experience.

Upscale Maine camp on beautiful great pond

Had a great stay at acorn cabin - host was very responsive to all messages, place was great for our three kids and us and overall wonderful experience. Cove it’s on is a beautiful part of the lake with little boat traffic as most head out to more open sections of the lake. Sandy bottom a few feet off shoreline and great swimming. Had everything we could need and a very comfortable stay!

Perfect Stay for the Family

This has been our 4th summer vacationing in Belgrade Lakes and this cabin did not disappoint. The cabin is situated on flat landscape, perfect for our kiddos (ages 2-5) with easy access into the lake, which is more sandy and kid-friendly than other places we’ve stayed at. The home is equipped with plenty of games / entertainment and the most comfortable couch to relax after a day of swimming in the sun. Easy access to town and excellent communication with owner. Lakefront Cabin Vacation

This is a beautiful camp with an awesome location just steps from the lake. The grounds are level and easy to navigate for kids and older adults. (We had parents in their 70's with some mobility issues). The lake was wonderful and this was by far our favorite aspect. Even though there are other camps on each side of this cabin, there is still a sense of privacy which was a big plus. As a couple previous reviews have mentioned, we unfortunately encountered various issues during our stay. Day 2 we experienced the water pump issue. We had prepared for this and reset the breakers as we were instructed. It would work for a little while and then go off again. Eventually we had to call the owner, who did send someone out to fix it within a reasonable amount of time. (Replaced the water filter we were told). The first time we used the grill was nerve wracking. There was no drip tray, and the grease tray was full from previous use and started spilling grease down onto the propane tank. This actually led to a small flame developing ON the propane tank. Thankfully we were right there and caught it quickly. We cleaned the grease tray ourselves and had no other issues. Prior to check in we watched the video on YouTube that goes over everything about this rental. We checked the holding tank as was instructed the first day we arrived. It was nowhere near being full. We checked it again on day 3 and again not even close to being full. We woke up on day 5 to the toilets not flushing. The tank was completely full. I have no idea how this happened so quickly. There had been 1 day of heavy rains and we had 4 adults and 2 kids. Again, we contacted the owner and she called someone to pump it out, which was done within an hour. Around mid day, the water stopped working again. At this point, we decided to end our stay 1 day early. During our stay, we sadly hit the dock with our boat during strong winds, causing some damage. We informed the owner of this right away, and she was very calm and understanding. The kids loved the bunkroom, and we enjoyed the comfortable couch for TV watching at night. The layout of the cabin was nice. There were some modern touches as well such as dimmable lights and electric fire places. The "she shed" would be ideal if you needed to do work on the computer. Overall, it's a beautiful place & great location.

Great place on great pond

Stayed for 5 days on our annual guys fishing trip. Great cabin, right on the lake with a great boat dock. The fire pit in the backyard is amazing! Absolute fantastic communication with Erin the owner who immediately took care of some minor issues. Can't wait to go back again next year!

Cozy Cabin

Cabin was cozy and inviting. Communication with property owner was quick, easy and pleasant. Property was right on the water with space in the back yard to still hang out or play some yard games. Look forward to coming back when the weather is more cooperative! :)
