Quick Charleston Getaway

Our family had a great quick trip to Charleston. The home was cozy and adorable. We were there for a college tour and the location was in close proximity to the college. We also appreciated off road parking.

A delightful place to stay. Just perfect!

This spot was just the right place to stay. The space is very clean and comfortable. You will love the outdoor space on the porch. The bedrooms are plenty big, the kitchen has everything you would need and the living room/dining room is a comfy space to relax, eat and gather. The location is just a block away from some really cool restaurants, wine bar and close to King Street.

Daughter’s Senior Trip

This place was just what we were wanting when we were thinking of charm. The two bedrooms were spacious and the kitchen was fully stocked- the owners even supplied the coffee and filters too! There were also plenty of dishwasher pods to cleanup after we cooked dinner (we chose not to eat out at every meal to save money), as well as laundry pods. It was a trip we’ll never forget.

Charleston getaway

We stayed in Charleston for three days, wish we had had more time. This apartment is a lovely getaway, quaint and feels a lot like home. It was quiet, even though it is on a relatively busy street. Met by an owl hooting away when we first arrived. I definitely recommend to anyone wanting easy access to the historic district and a place to crash and get rest after a busy day.

Very nice accommodation

I was unable to go....but friends stayed in my stead....the report I got was that the apt was a basic, very clean accommodation in a great location. I appreciated the professionalism of the owner Lois who gifted my husband and I One night free because we were unable to attend and we had paid for the accommodation. We look forward to staying there at a later time when we can go.

Needs updating

Living area furniture was very uncomfortable and outdated. Bed mattress sunk in places. Needs seating in bedrooms and more appealing decor. Towel rack in bathroom is broken. Kitchen was fine. Very interesting old house - just needs to be more updated and comfortable inside

Great Neighborhood

My son and I really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was ample sized for us with two large bedrooms. I really enjoyed the neighborhood as there was a delightful mix of homes and businesses, restaurants. The recommendations Lois provided were spot on. We were close enough to King street to walk there but far enough away to not be bothered by all the noise, traffic etc. My dad also attended the medical school so it was nice to be close to that as well. I hope to come back to visit with my wife and I’d love to stay here again.

Pure Charelston

We really liked this cozy rental...very old Charelston style house, fully updated with everything you would need for a few days in Charleston. The neighborhood at first seemed a little worn down, but it is just part of the old Charleston charm. Lots of houses and buildings getting redone. Lots of great restaurants within a few blocks, and .king st. is a 15 minute walk. Very clean, very comfortable beds. Decorated just enough, leaving a lot if space which we like. Coffee on the piazza was great. One suggestion..a good full length mirror near the bathroom and a few windows that can be opened......

Lovely apartment within walking distance of all the King Street activities.

We loved the apartment and the location was perfect for our weekend in Charleston. We parked our car when we arrived and didn't get in it again until we left. King Street is just a few short blocks away - we took advantage of all the activities it has to offer. The area surrounding the apartment is becoming known for its dining. We had Sunday brunch at The Garage (just a few blocks away) and tried the Green Eggs and Ham - delicious! We also stopped into Fuel and had an adult beverage on their outdoor patio. The apartment is stocked with everything you will need. It was nice to be able to make coffee before we set out for the day. Thanks for the hospitality Lois! We loved the city and will be back soon!

Charming Apartment

Overall the apartment was great. We loved the old charm. Every doorknob needs to be replaced or fixed. We had several fall off. I gave the check in process only 4 stars because we never received check in info from VRBO. I contacted the owner directly to get it. She responded very fast and since the unit was ready allowed us to check in early.

Perfect!

We have stayed in many homeaway properties and this has to be one of our favorites. We had an amazing time and the apartment fit all of our needs plus more. We loved the area and we liked being able to walk everywhere we went. The river market area is a little hike but there are free trollies that run and the pick up spot is right down the street. If you like a quiet morning drinking coffee and reading, the outdoor porch is a perfect spot. Lois, you were a fantastic host and we loved the maps with restaurants highlighted for us. We definitely used that as our guide to eat our way through Charleston. We want to thank you for such a great weekend and highly recommend this apartment to anyone who needs a quiet getaway or just loves the Charleston architecture and charm... you will find it all here.

Downtown Charleston Stay

Waned to stay somewhere close to downtown action. This place was a historic house with rentals on two floor plus a stand alone cottage type place on tge grounds. Off road parking for 3 guests. It had everything we needed for a one night stay in town. Nothing fancy, but Comfortable beds and large soft bath towels. Two seperate bedrooms with sitting area in between with full kitchen and bathroom. Outdoor sitting area on porch. We stayed in the upper suite B. Easy check-in with lock box. Expensive cleaning fee of $150. I guess with Covid protecols, everything is well cleaned for each new guest? Washer & dryer if needed for those staying longer. Less than 2 miles from carriage tours.

Enjoyable - Great Location for some great local up restaurants.

I truly enjoyed the location. It is about a mile walk to downtown, or you can take the free trolley. There are a good number of restuarants within two blocks that are excellent, and well worth eating at whether you want local fare, italian, Mexican, even sushi. Easy access to the freeway, and quick drive downtown to market street if you'd prefer to drive. King Street is about six blocks down for even more food and shopping options. The offstreet parking had plenty of room. The beds were very comfotable. The kitchen is small, but usable. Could use a couple more pots and pans, but that's all. There was cable tv and wi-fi internet which worked throughout the apartment. I would suggest light sleepers take the back bedroom, as some of the traffic noise can be loud in the front bedroom, but I slept in the front myself, and only had an issue when drivers felt the need to honk. There was a detour that sent a lot more rush hour traffic on the road than normal, and according to the locals, it should be done shortly. Runners - make sure you run the Ravenel Bridge. Great workout. 6 mile run to the top of the bridge and back...and easy to follow.

Basic

The location is good but it appears everything is close in Charleston. The interior photos of the home are fairly accurate but the exterior of the home shows a lot more wear and looks run down overall; from dust, spider webs to un manicured landscaping. On the interior it is basic but still charming . The towels were past there useful life and if you have 5 guests in a home ensure you have enough towels for all. In the kitchen there was no sponge. The stove top plates were dirty and should be replaced and spaghetti noodles should’ve been cleaned up. When our kids pulled the sheets back in the back bedroom to go to bed there were red stains on the sheets. We called and they replaced them the right away the next day. Then when we were leaving I was looking under the beds to see if anything was left behind and found condemn wrappers under the bed. So gross! All in all if the basic amenities were updated and the unit was clean it’d be a great place for a work trip. Not ideal for a family.

Up and coming neighborhood

The house itself was clean, but had a musty smell. The rooms were a nice size, but the front bedroom gets a lot of street noise and light from a very bright street light. During a thunderstorm, we noticed a leak in the roof in the front bedroom. That is also when we noticed the condition of the wall in the bedroom-cracked and moldy with severe water damage. When we contacted the owner, we did not receive a response until the next morning, an unsatisfactory response at that. The house needs more outside lighting for safety purposes and the living room furniture is quite uncomfortable. Construction on the house next door begins every morning at 7:30 am, so there is no sleeping in. The neighborhood is a little hit and miss with places to eat and relax-some, like King Street, is quite a walk, especially in the heat. The bathroom was a little small and only four towels were available for two guest for four nights. Very disappointing for the amount we paid for the rental.
