About the host

Hosted by Terry Schoneberg

Host profile image
We stayed in the Wailele Kai in September 2018 during our vacation to the Big Island and we fell absolutely in love with the house and the view of the ocean from the house and lanai. Shortly thereafter, we offered to buy the Paradise Pali Kai. After reaching an agreement with the prior owners and buying the property we renamed her Paradise Pali Kai. We are excited to be able to share our home in PARADISE with other vacationers. Terry Schoneberg, Sunrise Properties, is the property manager and having lived in the Hilo area for over 43 years can fully assist you, as he did us, in making this a trip of a lifetime.

Why they chose this property

Why The Big Island: We have visited Hawaii many times. Of all the islands, the Big Island is our favorite. The Big Island is less commercialized, and there is a greater variety of things to do and see. To name a few, Volcano National Park is a must see, the Japanese gardens, the banyan trees on Banyan Drive, jungle gardens and amazing waterfalls, pele’s lava; black, white, and green sand beaches and; at times lava flowing into the ocean near Kalapana.
Why the Hilo area: While we like the Kailua Kona area on the west side, we enjoy the lushness and beauty of the eastern side more. The eastern side is a tropical beauty and the ocean is majestic. Paradise Pali Kai is ocean front in a quiet residential neighborhood in Keaau, about 20 minutes outside Hilo. Thanks to the excellent road system, travel to the western, southern, and northern ends of the island is an easy drive from Keaau.
The Unique Benefits of this House: First, the house and views are simply stunning. The magic of the location is how close the house and lanai are to the ocean and the waves. The waves break directly on the lava cliffs IN THE BACKYARD. It is dramatic to view from the lanai, “great room”, and master bedroom, all of which are on the second floor facing the ocean. Every room upstairs and downstairs, has a view of the ocean.

What makes this property unique

The Finest quality luxury in every corner of our home. In the front of the house, in a beautifully landscaped and protected private courtyard, is a gorgeous lagoon pool with lanai and covered patio. While the tropics are beautiful, it can at times be unbearably hot and humid, particularly to those accustomed to a cooler or drier environment or central air conditioning. To eliminate this problem, the home has an air-conditioning system that cools, filters and dehumidifies the air. It is a zoned system and the temperature of each bedroom and the “great room” can be individually controlled. Most vacation homes in Hawaii do not have air conditioning, but this vacation home defines luxury. In addition, there are fans throughout the house for ambiance and use on cooler days. Paradise Pali Kai is true luxury. Mahalo
