About the host
Hosted by Guy Passmore
Hi, my name is Guy Passmore and I own the lakefront cabin. I am originally from Atlanta, but spent a significant part of my life growing up in western NC. I've fished, swam, and paddled on this lake numerous times in my life, always with family and friends. We love the NC mountains! After having 4 children, my wife and I decided to build a cabin we could stay in when we visit family a few times each year. We now live in Stuart, FL, just north of West Palm Beach. We love the mountains, especially the area around Queens Lake. My great-grandmother originally purchased the 120 acre parcel in the early 1930's. She sold approx 100 acres of the property to the power company, allowing a dam to be built and therefore create Queen's Creek Lake. This provided electricity to the Western NC area for the first time.
Why they chose this property
The lake views are gorgeous throughout the year. Our favorite times to go are in the summer and winter months. The temps are warm in the summer, but the humidity is low. In the winter, we often get some snow for the kids to play in. However, most visitors, love the Summer and especially the Fall as the leaves began to change colors in the mountains. If you haven’t already, make sure you get to the cabin in mid September through the end of October to see the foliage.
What makes this property unique
We paid attention to the details with our cabin. My wife and I have traveled significant amounts with work and we appreciate great hospitality! This cabin has excellent quality furnishings, with over-size chairs, a leather queen sleeper sofa, super comfortable memory foam mattresses, a hand-built kitchen island and cabinetry with under-lighting, and Starlink WiFi for optimum speed with Internet and streaming.
There are two fire pit areas, one is lakeside and the other by the front deck of the cabin. We provide a wine fridge that is always stocked with red, white, and bubbles if you want the convenience without having to drive to town for wine.
