About this property
Walk to National Park! Mountain Cabin w/ Fireplace
Relax with the whole family at the Rocky Mountain High cabin, adjacent to the Big Thompson River and a block from trailheads into Rocky Mountain National Park (Permit 20-NCD0246). This retreat has it all -- stargaze from the deck, spend a winter evening curled up in front of the fireplace, or prep a great meal for the entire family in the full kitchen.
+ 3 minutes to the town`s best restaurants + 5 minute drive to the park Visitor Center + 5 minute drive to town
Great for groups up to 6.
Real quick -- house rules:
No early check in or late checkouts. Check in is 4pm or later; check out is 10am or earlier. No smoking in the house or entire neighborhood. No parties, no pets, no open fires. 2 cars & 6 guests max. Guests must start a load of dishes and a laundry load of towels/hand towels/washcloths at checkout (we have negotiated a lower cleaning fee based on this). Accurate guest count mandatory.
Onward!
We welcome you to stay at our cozy cabin about 1.5 blocks away from the National Park boundary and trailheads winding along the base of Eagle Cliff Mountain into Moraine Park. Due to the location of our neighborhood (so close to so much open space) you will very likely see off our deck what so many other neighbors and guests have seen: elk, deer, bobcats, turkeys, birds, bears and even mountain lions if you`re lucky!
Our two story, 1000-square-foot cabin features three bedrooms, 2 baths, and an open lower floor with an attached kitchen, dining and living area. Big windows let in lots of natural light, and the design encourages gatherings of friends and family. Speedy wifi throughout ensures your entire group can stream Netflix or get a lot of work done if needed.
The newly remodeled kitchen has everything you need to prep a great meal for your family, a deck BBQ lets you grill up a storm, and a cozy fireplace in the living room gives you a place to relax when the snow begins to fall.
BEDROOMS
Bedroom 1 on the main floor features a king bed, television, and attached full bathroom that also opens into the kitchen.
Bedroom 2 on the second floor features a bunk bed with views out toward the mountains and river below, as well as a TV.
Bedroom 3, also on the second floor, also had a king bed plus a large television.
KITCHEN & DINING
Kitchen - A fully stocked kitchen features a microwave, fridge with ice maker, dishes and utensils for your group of 6, a drip coffee maker, dishwasher, and gas oven. Smaller appliances like a toaster, blender and kettle complete the package.
Dining - We have two dining areas: the kitchen features a small island to hang out while the chef cooks, and a gorgeous farmhouse dining table features seating for six.
LAUNDRY
Laundry - Feel free to our new and very large washer and dryer
Guests will have full access to our home, which includes:
3 bedrooms (2 kings, 1 bunk bed) 1 open dining/kitchen/livingroom (with fireplace) Small deck with grill Washer and dryer Neighborhood picnic area Common area access from the HOA to the riverbank 2 on-street parking spaces reserved for the cabin
We have turned over management to The Wolf Rentals, and you will see messages from our cohosts Nathan, Nancy and Matt. They have hosted more than 10,000 vacationers in Estes Park and we have entrusted them to provide you with an excellent stay!
This home is in the lovely Aspen Brook HOA, a collection of homes on the banks of the Big Thompson River. The HOA common land offers several hundred feet of river to fish in, but you can also simply walk across Highway 66, about a block away, and head into the National Park to fish in Moraine Park. Getting there is about a 20 minute hike.
The HOA has some important rules: no motorcycles, ATVs, trailers or RVs. We have neighborhood quiet hours from 9pm to 8am. No pets of any kind, and absolutely no smoking in the entire neighborhood.
There is a neighborhood picnic area and play area for kids.
Within 1.5 miles are the two best restaurants in Estes Park (Bird & Jim and the Rock Inn) or drive a few miles down 66 (past the YMCA of the Rockies) to Portal Campground and great hiking without the crowds.
The best part of this neighborhood is you can leave the house walk straight into the National Park, with the boundary being about 2 blocks away. You can also drive to the entry station without having to brave downtown traffic, as the home is on the west side of town. If you want to go downtown and don`t want to deal with parking, the town offers a free shuttle service during the summer months with a stop about a mile and a half away.
NOISE
Events, loud music and noises, and parties are strictly prohibited. Please be respectful of your noise level so I can maintain good relationships with my neighbors.
ADDITIONAL & NONPAYING GUESTS
Nonpaying and non-registered guests are not allowed on property.
AIR CONDITIONER
Like nearly every other home in town, there’s no A/C. Thankfully mountain air blows down from the high peaks and will cool down the place quickly in the evenings if you open the windows.
HOUSE AND NEIGHBORHOOD RULES
My neighborhood has rules to ensure serenity and privacy. By booking you are agreeing to them: no pets, no RVs, no motorhomes, no motorcycles, no open flames, quiet hours from 9PM to 8AM, requirement to observe 15mph on neighborhood roads, and absolutely no smoking anywhere (not inside, not outside, and not even in the neighborhood!).
BEARS
Do NOT leave food in your car! Bears frequent this area and can break in!
We use a Minut noise meter. It doesn`t record audio, but instead monitors decibel levels, temperature and humidity. This is for the safety of guests & to protect the home. It also serves to warn us about parties & prevent noise complaints from neighbors. It`s located on the cieling in the kitchen.

Property was clean and cozy, in a beautiful location right across from the Big Thompson River. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen had all the essentials we needed. The host was very responsive to any questions I had and replied promptly. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

We loved our stay here! The house was so well stocked with everything we needed - including toys and dishes for our two toddlers! We loved the grill and outdoor balconies and even caught a few trout for dinner! The house location was also very convenient…just close enough to RMNP and the Estes Park town but still felt like we were in the wilderness. Would stay again!

Our time at Aspen Brooks for our reunion was beyond our expectations. The 3 homes we rented were beautiful, clean and provided more than what we needed. Staff was very helpful, thorough and always pleasant.
Our time spent together was unforgettable. We built many new memories, shared lots of love & laughter, hiked Rocky Mountain trails and played board games late into the night. Thank you for providing a beautiful place to say!

You have a very special family. We enjoyed getting to meet many of them and hear the laughter and excitement as the days rolled along. It's always so nice to have families like yours visit and take advantage of our beautiful surroundings. Thank you for taking time to write a review for our homes. This property was pristine. The layout, furniture, linens and location could not have been more perfect for our multigenerational family to celebrate Thanksgiving. The amenities available meant we did not have to bring anything extra. We went on different hikes everyday in the National Park, but the games and hot tub in the house were super fun as well. Of course, it didn’t hurt that we had a beautiful snow on cue and that Estes Park was decorated with lights : ) Thank you for a wonderful time.

This cabin was great for our family of 4 and could easily fit 1-2 more. It had a great mountain decor and the kids loved the river flowing down the hill from the cabin. It is a very close drive to RMNP and close to lots of great restaurants and shopping at Estes Park.
This property was perfect for our stay in Estes Park. The property was well stocked for all of our necessities. The location is far enough out of the center of town to miss all the people and traffic, but close to RMNP for easy access. The sound of the river at night was peaceful and soothing. We will definitely look to stay at this property again in the future.
We’ve stayed at this house before under the previous owners and just love it! Close to the park; close to everything we need. Big smart TV in the living room is great. Everything you need in the kitchen.
The cabin was perfect for a little post Christmas getaway. So cozy and comfy, played games and hung out together. It was very clean and the check in was seamless. We very much enjoyed our time there!
Last minute get away.. Easy booking and communication between rental property. Cabin was very clean, cozy, and with updated amenities! Would return to property anytime I’m in Estes Park

This house was big and comfortable, but I was unaware it backed up to a very busy road. Not the Owner’s fault of course but I wish I had known. Property manager was responsive and house was clean. There is no AC at night and you cannot open windows if you are sensitive to noise. Pillows on king beds were queen size and flat. Kitchen did not have basic oils and condiments. For the price, I would have preferred better accommodations, but the house was generally as advertised.
We had 7 adults at our stay. We had others staying in RMNP which was a short 15 minute drive. The house is great, the best is the river in the backyard and sleeping to the sound of it. The house was well supplied with everything you may need, the appliances are all new and all worked well, and it has a great hot tub. It was awesome, we will definitely be back. We had no issues with this place at all.

I love arriving at a property that I booked online and finding it better than advertised. River Dream is exactly that property! The setting is beautiful and peaceful, on the banks of the Big Thompson, away from the crowd, yet so convenient to everything. It was well stocked with everything you would expect and then some. Truly impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin, including the garage. We loved it and highly recommend it!

We were so disappointed the weather cut your stay with us short. We did end up with about two feet of snow, but thankfully all the power stayed on and the roads are plowed. It was so nice having your family with us at Aspen Brook even though it was a very short stay. Please do come back to stay with us again. Best wishes,
