About this property
Secluded home-away-from-home with cook's kitchen, serving Ann Arbor & Ypsilanti
Unwind at this newly renovated mid-century home. It is surrounded by woods, so it feels very private. You can eat in the cathedral dining area, or on the back patio in the warmer seasons. The mattresses are memory foam, and there are many extra pillows. Each room has ample charging stations, the Amazon Smart TV is connected to Wi-Fi, and the large kitchen offers anything you’ll need. Perfect for families, friend groups, or teams, the three bedrooms can hold up to 6 guests comfortably. *Host occupies first floor apartment, which is totally separate. No parties of more than 10!
A door with a lock separates my space from the vacation rental you see in the photos. We each have separate entrances. I'm available to help you with the fire pit or the grill, or if you have any other questions. Otherwise, I'll be out of your way. However, if you prefer to meet and talk, I'm always happy to do so. I'm often out in the yard working in the garden!

Lovely home in a lovely neighborhood. The home had everything we needed to make a thanksgiving dinner. The host thought of everything to make sure that the guests were happy. We loved the games that were provided. Highly recommend.
We stopped overnight here before a CrossFit competition. It had everything we needed and the beds were super comfortable!!! We made a quick breakfast and coffee and headed out. Highly recommend and would stay again!
The property was great, and had everything we could need and more! Loved the array of coffees to choose from, and the basket of snacks. Super close to Ann Arbor. Will definitely stay again.

Thanks, Kelly! So glad it worked out for you and I look forward to hosting your crew again when you're in town. :)
We had a fabulous stay at this property. The beds were super comfortable, the kitchen & bathroom very well equipped and we felt right “at home”. The hammock in the yard was a relaxing treat.
My family loved staying here! The place is very clean, beautifully decorated, stocked with all the comforts, and convenient to a lot of stuff. Natalie is a great host and quick to communicate. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

Thank you, James! I loved meeting you and Vita. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for leaving everything so clean, and for the food! I've been enjoying salami and cheese sandwiches! I'd love to host you all in again in the future. :-)
This was the cleanest VRBO I’ve ever stayed in. Everything we needed (and more) was provided. Would definitely stay again. The checkin process was simple. Thanks for a great stay!!

About the host
Hosted by Natalie M Bruno
I don't know which I love more - traveling and staying in VRBOs or hosting guests in my own VRBO at Hillside Manor! I love the sharing economy and participate in any way I can. I also love meeting people, hearing their stories, hosting, serving, exploring, and going on adventures.
On the home front, I enjoy every aspect of hosting - communicating with guests, helping to plan outings in the area, recommending restaurants and hikes, preparing the rooms, renovating the house, tending the garden, and listening to feedback to make this a most enjoyable stay.
I work as the head of HR for a Detroit-based IT company called Macro Connect Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays, and I work at home on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
My travels have brought me to many National Parks. I'm currently working toward the goal of visiting all 50 states by my 50th year! I have 12 left and 3 years. I've also visited countries such as Greece, Italy, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Amsterdam, Spain, Honduras, Ecuador, & Peru. Suffice it to say, I love to travel!
I'm a total foodie, a yogi, a reader, writer, and photographer, a gardener, a cook, a musician (trumpet), and real estate investor. Can't wait to meet you and talk about life, food, and travels. Namaste.
Why they chose this property
I bought this property in August of 2021 specifically to turn it into a vacation rental It is a tri-level with a first floor that is perfect for me, so I'm onsite to care for the house and make sure it always feels like home.
The Golfside neighborhood is quiet and family-friendly with lots of dogs walking their owners! It will feel like a getaway for you and it will feel very safe. We can park on the street in my neighborhood, which is helpful too!
Hillside Manor is 15 minutes from Michigan Stadium, so a nice getaway from the craziness of downtown Ann Arbor on game days. It's also minutes from Washtenaw Golf Course, which is beautiful. Eastern Michigan University and Ypsi's Depot town are under 10 minutes away. There is a fresh grocer, Fresh Thyme Market, down the street, and ample hiking opportunities in Ypsil, Ann Arbor, and Pittsfield Township, mostly 10-15 minutes away.
There is a walking path by a creek just down Hillside Drive, where you can walk for 30 minutes in a forested area - out and back, so you don't get lost!
This will feel like a retreat of sorts and is for those who want to feel at home away from home. If you like to cook - bonus - you should have everything you need to make an awesome meal!
What makes this property unique
In the warmer months, there is a hammock out front There is also a brick fire pit and charcoal Weber Grill in the back with seating for 4-6.
The fire-pit comes with hot dog / marshmallow skewers and fire starter material. I most often have treated wood you can use that burns easily.
In the winter snow season, the front yard is on a hill and great for sledding for younger kids. There are four blue saucers in the screened in porch (that doubles as my gardening shed (for now).
The comments in reviews that stand out the most is how much my place feels like home and that I've thought of every detail and have lots of extras. I love communicating with guests, and providing outstanding service. You will likely feel this.
I also love to promote the area, so I offer suggestions for hikes, local kayaking, great restaurants, and unique local experiences. If you look for Brick & Cedar Homes and Hillside Manor online, you'll likely find my blog with many posts about dining, drinking, and exploring the area!
