You can't beat the location of this cottage. We could hear the waves lapping from our bed at night. The windows give such a breathtaking panoramic view that we felt like we were camping. We also felt amazingly isolated from the nearby cottages.
The furnishings were not fancy, but functional. Some of the appliances and furniture were pretty old, and the floors slope (we had food roll down hill off the kitchen table more than once), but the place was clean and full of seasonal nick-nacks. It was clear that the owners take pride in their cottage.
We spent a weekend here in early October and found many businesses still open. We were surprised that, for such a beautiful and easily accessible lake, the surrounding areas remain so rural and non-touristy.
We were glad this cottage was so close to Bristol for easy access to pizza shops and groceries. This lake is probably not the place to go if you want to spend your days browsing quaint shops and trying a variety of restaurants, though -- unless you're willing to drive beyond the lake for that sort of thing. It IS the right place if you want to spend your time on the water. I can't think of a more ideal location for swimming (especially with kids, it's a perfect little beach), boating, grilling on the deck, fishing and just relaxing with your family. You can do so much without getting in the car, including shopping at a well-stocked mini grocery/convenience store without even crossing a road.
I would definitely recommend this cottage to a friend. In fact, my only hesitation is that I want this place to remain our secret treasure.
