Noisy and not meeting expectation

The pictures looked okay and the location sounded good. The actual condition of the unit was a bit of a letdown. A movable AC in the living room vented through a window and attached with blue painters masking tape looked pretty bad (not shown in pics). The unit had holes and nails in the walls left from previous curtain rods and things hanging on the wall. Some of the picture frames were falling apart. We were unable to roll up/down the blinds in the kitchen (strings broken/mechanism not functional). Overall the unit seemed like it had received a quick makeover after somebody moved out, to make it passable for VRBO rental - including an abundance of fake flowers. Street parking was available, and unit had a toaster + coffee maker — though we were surprised to wake up and find no coffee or tea (we would have brought these had we known). We could have lived with the above, but the host failed to mention that this unit is noisy! A note on the door told us to call the host if neighbors were too noisy (which they were, playing loud music most of the day and when returning home at 3am from the bars). The bedroom faces a busy street; with single pane windows we might as well have been sleeping on the sidewalk - we would hear every single car and bus speeding by. Morning surfers arrived at 5am, parked their cars out front and spoke loudly while preparing to hit the waves (good for them, bad for us). Maybe we should have been clued in by the white noise machine in the bedroom and

Great location

We enjoyed our stay. The property is in a great location! We were within walking distance of the beach, restaurants, etc. The host was super responsive with any requests or questions that we had.

Why they chose this property

Pacific Beach and Mission Beach are two of the most popular neighborhoods in San Diego, and for good reason. Located just a few miles north of downtown, these beach communities are home to some of the best beaches, restaurants, and nightlife in the city. Pacific Beach is known for its lively atmosphere and long stretches of sand. Here you'll find a wide variety of restaurants, bars, and shops, as well as a popular boardwalk that runs along the beach. The neighborhood is particularly popular with young people and surfers, and you'll often see people riding bikes, walking dogs, or playing volleyball on the sand. Mission Beach, just south of Pacific Beach, is a slightly quieter but still bustling neighborhood. The centerpiece of Mission Beach is its namesake beach, which is a long, wide stretch of sand that's perfect for sunbathing, swimming, and surfing. Along the beach, you'll find a lively boardwalk that's perfect for strolling or biking, as well as a few great restaurants and bars. Both Pacific Beach and Mission Beach are popular destinations for tourists and locals alike, and they offer a wide range of activities and attractions. Whether you want to spend your days lounging on the beach, trying out new restaurants, or exploring the local nightlife, these neighborhoods have something for everyone.
